When are the EPL going to enforce this agreement? "Clubs have agreed to a new Premier League Rule where away supporters will be seated together at all stadiums and at least one block of away fan seats will be made available pitchside." https://www.premierleague.com/news/137864 For example, Leeds, Man Utd, Newcastle do not give away supporters a block pitchside.
The actual rule says: So in essence if the local stadium safety advisory group (council, police etc) don't give permission, a club isn't obliged to do it. Which without doing any other research is how I suspect some clubs get out of it. Plus don't Leeds have lower tier seats available in the usual away section? We presumably returned that bit of the allocation...
Yes, but the design of the ground will determine what the safety people say. It should be down to the clubs to make the required changes to comply with the rule. This may cost them money, but it is wrong to sign up to something you have no intension of complying with. The EPL should insist on this being done if/when any stadium improvements are being made or after say 3 seasons in the EPL.
Yeah but as with the EFL, the EPL is simply a collection of 20 clubs who vote for the rules. Outside of legal requirements they're never going to agree to rules that oblige them to spend cash for nothing. And this is the epitome of nothing - it doesn't raise extra cash, caters to a group of fans who don't support the club so won't spend any more cash there and will probably involve annoying home fans by relocating them. Is it even that great an idea anyway? Seats low down next to the pitch tend to be crap. Do players think it helps?
I don't disagree with your comments. To me its just another example of ********, saying you are doing something that most have no intension of doing. This happens in many things in life and it annoys me.
There was one small block, the furthest right section in the lower tier just in front of the disabled viewing. Usually we'd have the whole of that lower tier, but we returned them - clearly most of our fans are smarter than I.
Ok, I was on the far left of the upper section so only saw the Leeds supporters in the lower section in front of us.
I was very surprised when I tried to buy tickets a couple of weeks before the Leeds game - only to find that we had sold out. In retrospect it wasn't the worst game to be forced to miss.
I would much rather be on the half way line, gives a much better prospective of the game. I don't expect the home team to give us these prime seats but at least could do what Norwich, Everton, and a few others do and give us end of side stand, still better than behind the goal IMO.
