Not entirely serious no. But it further damages his nice innocent image that people tend to associate with him.
Why Messi is better than Ronaldo if it needed any explanation. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/lionel-messi-is-impossible/ 58 goals and 21 assists this year. And having broken several more records in the process. The one disappointment being not being able to secure the World Cup despite the absence of di Maria and having an unfit Aguero and Higuain. The best player in the world. And he's starting to use his right foot recently......
I choose to ignore the Messi/Ronaldo debate - for me, they're both absolutely world class players, some of the best to have ever played the game, and to compare them would just detract from their genius. Still, I'd prefer Ronaldo on my team.
Ronaldo's been better in the past two years overall, ignoring the abysmal World Cup for him, but I still don't think he's as good as Messi was a few years back.
Nonsense. CL final di Maria propelled Real Madrid to the title. Messi's statistics are just as good and as a player in terms of his passing, vision, dribbling he has been and always will be superior. Messi offers far more to any team in a variety of aspects and I would always choose him first.
In what way ? He will never be as naturally gifted as Messi. Leo has been hampered by some injuries and fatigue but he looks as if he is coming back to his best.
He may not be more naturally gifted but 25 goals in like what 15 games? Can't argue with that surely!
How does being naturally gifted have anything to do with how they've played this year? If Ronaldo has worked particularly hard to get to where he is, he deserves even more plaudits in my opinion.
If Ronaldo could pass, show vision and dribble as well as Messi he might be regarded as a more complete player. He isn't. Messi is superior and always will be no matter how hard he works at his game. He does not have those abilities.
It's a very good scoring record but overall what has his other contributions been ? He was missing when it mattered most in the CL final. Injury hampered him in the WC which was unfortunate for himself. However in the past several players have been overlooked when their overall contribution has been overlooked in favour of goal tallies. Someone like Franco Baresi for instance. A supreme reader of the game whose defensive play was just as important in securing numerous serie A and CL titles as the more flashier players in those Milanese teams.
Could Messi be on his way out of the Nou Camp? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...el-Messi-fell-out-of-love-with-Barcelona.html How many of ours are currently complaining of ‘gastroenteritis’ ?
They'll drop Enrique before they let Messi go. Apparently Enrique is a bit of a **** who plays too defensive. No word on whether he sees his face on the pitch though.

Bah....It was only against Eibar....... Well that is what his critics will say. Ignoring the fact he can do this against most teams if allowed one one one and turn into space. It's such a shame he was not fully fit last season and struggled for fitness during the World Cup (not to mention losing di Maria, and having unfit and rusty players in Higuain and Aguero from the so called fantastic four). He looks back to his best. As they say form is temporary class is permanent even though he outperformed Ronaldo last year (media perception swayed the Ballon voting). As for his dribbling success compared to others it is phenomenally successful.
Could have had four assists comfortably last night and missed a couple of chances himself. So much for La Liga being pitiful. Manchester City were made to look like Rayo Vallecano....... On a pitch filled with star names one player still stood out head and shoulders above the rest. He makes the game look so simple and easy.
Another masterclass from the little maestro. It will be a sad day for football when he retires. People said he had a poor game. Bizarre considering that Suarez and Neymar messed up two gilt edged chances. Like Maradona he would have far more assists if his team mates could actually finish the chances he creates. It's nuts that we live in a time where two of the greatest players to ever have lived are playing. Scoring 30 league goals a season was considered good, these two are scoring 40/50 league goals for fun. It's amazing.
I can't understand anyone that puts Maradona above him. Messi could have easily played in Maradona's era, but Maradona would have struggled nowadays. Just keeping drink and drug-free would have been too much for him. Oh, and Maradona was a cheat, pure and simple. That said, Messi was shocking in the world cup - and looked suitably embarrassed when he went to pick up his golden bollox trophy that had his name engraved on before a ball had even been kicked. It was one of a few amusing things to happen in the tournament.
Forget the H.O.G. forget the drink and drugs which ruined his career, Maradonna was more skillful. I think it was Stuart Pearce that mentioned seeing DM pre match kick the ball 60 foot in the air and controlling it's return from one spot, not once but six times in succession and with both feet. Now I'm not saying he isn't fantastic but much of Messi's success is due to the quality and understanding of the players around him and that defenders are scared of touching him. Maradonna would effortlessly plow through defenders who's only intention was to stop him. Much heavier balls in those days too.
Maradona also was kicked to pieces by defenders and refs did nothing. I doubt many people who think messi is better are over the age of 30.
