Not a clue, hasn't been in the squad for any of their games (or their youth squad) and no mention of him on their official site about injuries or anything. 10 games left of their season and they're 9 points off making it to the finals and 3 points off the playoffs so his game-time is gonna be very limited even if he does start making their squads. What a great idea this was.
Looks like he hadn't even arrived in New York as of a few days ago! https://twitter.com/MostlyBullNY/status/1692578280870756498?t=H7-3BOhJ-EmUNxvUjeHCMQ&s=19
Christ, good use of time for everyone involved then. I can see it now - being bought on for his debut in the 88th minute of their final game
Bizarre. Would've been better to send him to a League Two side, I'm sure we could get one of them to take a Colombian U20 'star' on loan.
NYRB crashed out the playoffs the other night which ends his loan spell. He played 117 minutes for NYRB and 258 minutes for NYRB II. A waste of time for all involved.
What’s up with this guy - does he exist? His loan has officially expired now. Surely he’s not just been sitting in a hotel room in New York up until now
He's been attending home games recently so I assume he's training. I saw @LouOrns said on Twitter the club want to keep him here and get him on a strength and conditioning programme.
It'd be fantastic if he's ready, but I tend to think it unlikely. Seemed to get virtually no first team action in MLS - plus a few runouts in MLS next (which is essentially a development league). Presumably those were trying to work on fitness and acclimation, but will be a big step up from what amounts to MLS U-21 teams to the Championship. I think we'll have a look at him and send him off for another loan somewhere. Lad needs games.
If the plan is to send him out on loan again, can he play tomorrow? I believe there's a rule where you can't play for more than 2 professional clubs in a season, not sure how it works for two leagues with different calendars
As you say it would be a surprise if he's ready given his recent lack of games, it's interesting that he's been given the number 17 shirt already. That would suggest they've seen enough of him to think he should be part of the first team plans in the near future.
Got an assist. Ran around a bit , got stuck in . Seemed to be another who did one good thing but then tried too much and didn’t shoot when well placed on on occasion.
The general term I’m hearing, even from the manager himself, is “raw”. He’ll do one or two good things then will do a few crap things. Not totally hopeless, but I suspect not up to the level to be a force in the Championship just yet. I see him as a punt to nothing. Use him as a wildcard from the bench. Clubs won’t know much, if anything, about him, so he could take some by surprise before he’s worked out, like is the case with Martins.
Out of all the south american exports he is the weakest ive seen based on his debut. He just didn’t have that spark for me and it was against non-league opposition. Not writing anyone off but I don’t see him having the sell on value like others have unless he has a successful loan like Lukebakio
He did struggle in the MLS which isn’t a good sign. Val likes to polish a turd though. He might get something out of him, and if anyone can, Val can.
Bit harsh! Wasn't exactly a defence splitter but he did play it at the perfect pace so a defender was drawn out but couldn't intercept it and it wasn't so heavy so that Dele-Bashiru couldn't control it.
Mildly promising debut, I would say. He's only 20, looks pretty quick, lively and fairly tall. There's a lot of potential there, so it could go either way over the next two or three years.
