Looks like Planet Tory is a place far, far, away (from reality)... Boris Johnson memoir insists he would have won July election Former PM argues in Unleashed he was victim of ‘witch-hunt’ and broke no rules with lockdown parties
Unfortunately watched the fat piece of sheet on ITV last night. Brexit being a disaster was Cameron's fault for walking away. Fatty and Gove just wanted to 'win the argument'. What a reprehensible ****.
https://x.com/Conservatives/status/1842167118990823595 Tories have released a video with some hard-up pensioners slating Keir for slashing the winter allowance. Except one of them is wearing a £5000 Rolex and is sitting in front of a £1200 lamp. My heart bleeds.
What lovely big houses they all have. I'd at least expected then to find some of the actually poor pensioners
A bunch of actors and actresses on a set somewhere, never real pensioners in their own homes. Never the less someone must have approved the script, talking about their tennis club and one of their communications team must have had a look around the set and thought that this stinks of Surberton and Sunnindale. Common sense says you have them kitted out in knitted cardigans, a frilly pinny, blanket over their knees, making tea in a 1970s avocado kitchen. Really bad production by the tories
Yeah but he might have got the Rolex as a retirement gift after working 50 years in a factory or inherited it from his father or something. At least that's what the wise owls on X say. Oh and the lamp too. He got that from the factory as an employee of the month gift.
I've seen those responses too. I imagine most factory workers get £7k Rolex watches for retirement gifts and £1.3k lamps for being employee of the month May be the Tory tweet should be changed to say that they will have to choose from heating, eating or selling ridiculously valuable assets this winter.
Maybe he got it as a donation? Remember, donations of expensive items are absolutely fine #twotierTories
I wouldn't be surprised if their next video focuses on a widow who struggles to pay the heating as it's really expensive to heat her 5 bedroom house - and she can't insulate it low either because it's grade 1 listed. The AGA isn't cheap!
They worked hard all there lifes there entitled to there rolexes, their 5 bedroom houses, their expensive lamps and there free bills!
He shouldn't have to consider selling his luxury watch to pay for the heating, just so young families can have smashed avocado on toast and frothy coffees!
These people are a disgrace. Waste all their money on poppies and gardening gadgets, then complain they can't afford to heat their homes!
To be fair: Sounds like she's not sitting on her arse or turning up to sign in then going home again like some of them. Having a few youngsters in the HoL might actually make them it a bit more relevent.
I don't disagree. The Lords needs massive reform but, if it is to stay as it is, then a younger and more varied influx of new peers would be welcome imho. What needs to change though is the political appointments that are "rewards" for political allies and "advisors". I think appointing experts and youngsters, perhaps selected by an independent body, for a specific term as a peer, might work better.
Isn't there a danger that too many 'independents' would reduce the efficacy of the Lords as a legislative body?
Tories **** up by too many Cleverly/ Tugendhat moderates voting tactically, assuming Cleverly a shoo-in, and Generic and Bad Enoch make it through to the finals. Most sophisticated electorate in the world.
Not the first time they've shot themselves in the foot regarding their leadership election rules. Infact the last 3 times they fcked it up. I spose consistency is something.
So yesterday almost exactly 50% of the Tory MPs voted for the "One Nation" candidates (with no particular incentive for tactical voting) but today they send two Reform-lite candidates to the membership. I reckon this could be an existential crisis for the Tories . If the eventual leader decides to fill the front bench with other Rwanda obsessives, I can see the possibility of a rival camp of back-benchers coalescing around figures such as Cleverly, Tugendhat, Hunt, etc. The parliamentary party could be quite evenly split.
It's an outstanding result for Labour and Starmer. So much so that I'd suggest it now doesn't even matter who wins the contest.
The membership love Badenoch because she "speaks her mind". Which is great until you realise that literally nothing inside that mind addresses any of the fundamental issues facing the country and is mainly culture war ********. And she is terrible in interviews, totally unable to think on her feet, and prone to saying things that are manifestly untrue. She'll win by a mile. Tories deserved a hiding but it's obviously better for the country if we have an opposition party that is competent and fundamentally decent. They've left themselves with a choice of two nasty, thin-skinned, vacuous clowns. Great work.
