Esther McVey under fire from the Board of Deputies (and most others) for this spectacularly daft tweet.
I see the latest season of Tory Leadership Wars premieres on Wednesday. First round voting and elimination due to take place.
The Tory Leadership candidates can either promise to head down the familiar road of anti-immigration, anti-woke extremism that has brought the Country so much joy or steer towards the centre ground currently occupied by Sir Kier’s tanks. If they do the latter, a further chunk of supporters will head to Reform.
Apparently the leadership contest is now a two horse race between Jenrick and Badenoch. Out of these two, difficult to now which one the membership will select. Both probably believe that the Tory party has to move further to the right, so are unlikely to boost Tory support in the foreseeable future.....
Watford's adopted Dame knocked out in R1: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1d7y92n31zo Jenrick leads the charge.
How on Earth did Patel think she could win the backing of an immigration obsessed party following her record as Home Secretary?
He's disgraced and 'retired' yet those "clarifications" surrounding a myriad of "misunderstandings" keep on coming... Boris Johnson faces ‘serious questions’ over new business with uranium entrepreneur Former prime minister also under fire for hiring ex-aide Charlotte Owen as VP despite her lack of energy sector experience
How did she think she would win a nation over, when she's in a cluster along with Braverman, Streeting, Lammy and Sturgeon of simply not being nice human beings.
All I can see is placeholder leadership candidates. The Tories need someone new and a complete rebuild.
It’s a new idea they need. Their candidates simply want to carry on in the same way but promise harsher rhetoric against immigration and those terrible woke people. The problem is that the potential conservative support is split between those who got fed up with all of that and went to the Lib Dems and those who are now quite mad and could never get enough anti immigration, anti woke, anti WEF, anti whatever is sane and rational. Who to pivot towards?
Apparently BoJo is going to do an interview on the BBC promoting his book. Is he going to apologise for breaking all the COVID rules his Government set?
Excellent let me know when it's on so I can record it then delete it without watching. Somehow this feels like more of a snub to me than just avoiding it.
Seems to be prime time even knocking off Eastenders! https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/soaps/eastenders/eastenders-schedule-change-boris-johnson-newsupdate/
Meanwhile, on planet Tory: Liz Truss: Tories would have done better in UK election if I had stayed PM
I suspect that having lost the last election, the natural conclusion of the Tories during this leadership election, is that they need someone more nasty and particularly unpleasant to lead them next.
Apparently, political aides had a secret nickname for Truss - they called her ‘Daggers’ - (short for Dagenham, two stops past Barking)
Hold those thoughts... Tory gasps as Robert Jenrick reveals daughter’s middle name is Thatcher Leadership candidate tells party conference he thought it was a good way to remind daughter of a great PM
Didn't clock that when I posted it. I definitely recognise him. Whether he taught me though is lost to the mists of time.
Oops ! How awkward . https://metro.co.uk/2024/10/02/emba...-johnson-bbc-interview-huge-blunder-21724381/ If true and it's not a red herring for something else.
Another deluded idiot I don't think they have twigged yet that they aren't going to move forward until they untie themselves with Thatcher. She stepped down 34 years ago but they still try to hang on to her petticoat tails. 34 yeas ago anyone who is now 50 was only 16 and had no idea of who Thatcher was, they know her through what their parents told them. The need to get over her and move on.
