Well you've added the weapons in now which completely changes it! Simply chanting "God is Great" in a different language is not going to get you charged with a section 5 offence.

    With or without.

Let's be grown up and honest with ourselves....rightly or wrongly, the chanting of 'alluah Akhbar' in the street is synonymous with terror incidents for a lot of people.

I can't say for sure whether or not I would feel alarmed or distressed if I saw or heard Islamists/Jihadi's/Muslims, whatever you want to label them as, doing this. I would understand if some people would.

    Works both ways.

  3. Keighley

    Keighley First Team

I think it could do, depending on the context. For example if it was in the context of an episode of violent disorder.

Whether it should do is another matter.

You'd just charge violent disorder then and not bother with section 5.

  5. Keighley

Yes, probably true. But technically it could constitute a separate offence.

True, but the Union Jack is synonymous with racist aggression for some people.

We rightly reject any notion that the flag should be appropriated in this way and continue to use it.

Although I understand the point you're trying to make, it's hardly a fair comparison!

Technically there's a theft in most burglaries but you wouldn't add it as another charge...

The point I was making is that simply chanting "allahu akhbar" is never, ever going to be enough for a s5 offence as initially stated. You'd need other behaviour alongside it which would mean other offences would be the preferred charges.

  9. I would say a horde of marauding Muslim's running down the streets with swords and machete's chanting 'Bah Bah Black Sheep' would be pretty distressing to most sane people!

What would Allahu Akbar make worse?

I don't think it is fair to make the apparently seamless link between 'Muslims' and Islamists or Jihadis. Most Muslims are neither.

You mean a bit like most British citizens that have a concern about unsafe streets aren’t right wing thugs?

If you're worried about unsafe streets, white people commit more crimes and make up a higher percentage of the prison population in the UK than all other ethnicities put together.

And why is so much of the anger directed towards Muslim people when there's nothing to say the Southport attacker was Muslim? In fact it's highly likely he isn't.

And why weren't there riots when that white criminal shot and killed five children in Plymouth in 2021.

This reaction has only happened because social media spread incorrect information giving an Arabic name as the culprit. Which wasn't true.

    Wow, what a weird post.

Can you please point out where I said Muslims are at fault for unsafe streets and where I’ve said that white people aren’t at fault?

I think you’ll find people have been worried about knife crime in particular for years and it’s gotten out of hand massively in the last couple of years!

The protests this week have been about knife crime have they? Right oh.

Nice try, Bubble, but your display of mental gymnastics is worthy of an Olympic gold medal.

Yes, but the recent 'protests' are not anything to do with 'unsafe streets' now are they? If so, why did we not see this type of 'protest' when Olivia Pratt-Korbel was shot in her own house by a white drug dealer gang member, or when Elle Edwards was shot outside a pub in Wallasey by another white gang member shooting in an uncontrolled manner at a group of people as part of a feud? All happened quite recently on Merseyside and the victims were white, so I wonder what the difference may be this time?
I also don't remember all the 'concerned' right wing twitterati expounding upon the threat these type of events pose to the fundamental values of British society and how WE REALLY NEED TO ACT NOW.

I’m not talking about this weeks protests, I’m talking general concerns! And actually yes, you could argue anyway that this weeks protests were about knife crime as the incident with the 3 girls was due to a knife crime, was it not?

  17. No.
    https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula... an estimated 0.9,2020 (1.2 million offences).

Is it on the rise or the decline? The only year it declined was the year we were all locked down.

Looking at the trend over a longer period and taking covid into account I'd suggest the rate of increase is slowing.

The statistics for London alone seem to show a levelling off a year or two in advance of this trend.

If nothing else gives Elon the hint he's gone too far, support from the lettuce should. I thought he was some sort of genius.

Talk of the lettuce. This was unveiled by Led By Donkeys at Beccles Public Hall as part of her book tour. The lettuce stormed off the stage. LOL.

She's still clearly the most bangable female PM we've ever had.

Who's the best man for the ladies out there? Ham face? Blair? I reckon Major actually.

I thought you would have been up for a bit of slap & tickle from Thatcher.

For me Ramsay McDonald and only because he looks a bit like will Ferrell.
