So, I have a wake tomorrow and was planning on wearing a pair of tan leather shoes I last wore to a wedding in September. Got home that night and just chucked them straight back in the box they came in. I've pulled them out today and seen they're covered in stains - presumably from spilling drinks all over myself for most of the night - and I now have A. no time to go and buy any products and B. no clue exactly what I'd need to clean them with. Any tan leather cleaning experts on here who can tell me there's some magic concoction I can cook up with standard household items?
Hey Nath If you really have not got the time to buy a Leather Conditioner, you can use a DIY version that is very effective on Tan leather. All you need is warm water and vinegar. Take out the laces, remove any logo stickers for removable parts (i.e ring pullies) Mix two parts water and one part vinegar in a bowl. Soak the corner of a cloth in the mixture and dab it onto any stains on the leather shoes. If the stain doesn't lift, gently rub the mixture into the stain with the cloth. Wipe off the vinegar mixture with a different damp cloth and let the shoes dry.
Kill two birds with one stone by wearing clown shoes. Fixes your lack of shoe issue, AND brings more colour. On a more serious note, I absolutely hate wakes. They just feel horribly stilted and awkward, and worrying about what you're going to wear on top of it just completes the misery.
