I've already made my thoughts known on the main boards, but what I'd like to know is what do you think of Heidar's goal celebration last night?

Personally I think very highly of Heidar, he was absolute quality for us when we had him, and left with goodwill. Last night he got a great reception, probably one of the best I've heard for a returning player.

However, and I know the draw still hurts so emotions are up, but I really wish he hadn't celebrated like he did. It was the celebration of someone who left the club with a bad taste, sort of like I'd expect Cook to celebrate if he scored for QPR against us. I have no problem with an opposing player celebrating, none whatsoever, but something about it left me with a bad taste in my mouth this morning. I'd like to know your views.

correct me if I am wrong but he just ran with his arm up.

I think the own goal was celebrated by fulham a bit ott, weather that is what you mean as I didn't see who was at the bottom of the bundle.

I feel your a little over sensitive about this issue, trying to claim the own goal and almost gloating about it was off but i feel that any player scoring against his old club no matter how they left has a right to celebrate, you must also consider that though he was once a hornet and left under no cloud what so ever and the reception he got he is now a fulham player and fighting for a place in the first team, if he hadnt celebrated like he did it would have seemed that he was not a "Fulham" team player, and the celebration he did was not over the top or what you wouldnt expect from any player.

but to add... i understand your frustrations, to see any old player score against us hurts, especially one who was loved as much as heider was.

At the match it looked like he ran off with his arm in the air, bit like Alan Shearer, but watching it on the TV you could see him much more animated than it appeared from behind him in the Rookery. I agree about the first team place and showing the manager that he's commited, but I thought he'd show a bit more respect to the fans who used to worship him week in and week out. As I said it's a bit raw right now, I still respect the player and I'd be glad to see him back. It surprised me that's all.

I fully understand your sentiments, i just feel that he scored a nice goal and deserved to be able to celebrate, i thought he showed alot of respect before and after the game, and as was shown on sky sports had a lot of time for the fans and players he knew from his time with us.
I dont feel it was over the top, but given the circumstances of his first return to the vic I can fully understand why he would have been expected to show a little more respect and compassion.
The only critisism i would have about him last night was the celebration after the own goal, i feel he could have shown a little more sympathy for that than celebrating it in such a way.

It's good to hear others views. I feel like I'm in therapy :) Wierd thing is that it was his headed goal that I'm talking about, the own goal celebration doesn't bother me. Certainly seems to have stirred up a hornest nest, (no pun intended), on the main boards.

this was taken from the official club boards:

Just listened to Heidar on the Radio: Icelandic Footy show, talking about the game yesterday.

    The extract:

He says it was the strangest game he has ever played in. Was so proud to walk onto the pitch.

Said the Watford time was without a doubt his best of his life.

Did not mind the jeering at time from fans, at all. "the supporters should support their team and I was the enemy yesterday."

He said when he scored the goal the adrenaline was too much. He didnt know what to do, he was just glad to get off the mark this season and he had eqialized having been 2-0 down. He did not intend to put the Watford supporters down as "they are the greatest in the world." But he said he is a Fulham player and the fans would not like it if he was casual having scored that goal.

Also said it had been too long since he had played at Vicarage Road.

Also after the game, one Watford supporter tried to spit in his face.

its a sad state of affairs when a supporter forgets how much Heider meant to us that he spits in his face... thats deigusting and i hope they got him and ban him from future games.
Given what heider said you can fully understand his celebration last night and all credit to him about how he felt about it.
considering how much he loved playing at watford it must have been very hard for him to know how to react to it.

That is true, it was good to see Helguson back at the vic and I gave him a cheer when his name was announced and he came on the pitch.

Don't blame him for his celebration as it is always good to score but wished it was against another team though.

After reading that I have no choice but to stand down from the argument. He was a great player for us and will always be welcomed back.

Yes, his celebrations were a bit over the top and i was dissapointed to see them, but getting back from 2 goals down must be fantastic; he deserved that goal and was just happy to get it- he wasn't being intentionally arragont. :)

Just seen the difference between here and fishal boards- here it is a good discussion, over there its like "f*ck off back to iceland you c*nt!!!"

when he scored that equaliser and i saw him running off with his arms raised and he was jumping aroud, i got so annoyed. But bless him, now ive read that above statement i think i now realise why he did it and stuff. Im not as angry and upset as i was but still when i see it on watford world, he did go a bit mad...

    Is it just me?
I cant see a problem with the celebration, he scored he deserved to celebrate!

It's quite strange, people either got really pi55ed off or were not bothered. Nobody seems to be slightly irritated! ???

It's not just you, just wished Fulham hadn't scored. Was more peeved off about losing the lead than how Helguson celebrated.

I am impressed with the discussion that has been had about this and how peoples opinions and views on it have changed in here.
I too went and had a look in the official boards and was disgusted at how it was portrayed in there, they seem more concerned with his celebration than they do about our lacklustre defending that lead to the macbride goal.
    makes me sick!

Be warned that as time passes we will undoubtedly attract some not so subtle members here. The popularity of the clubs boards is also part of it's undoing. As we get busier then it will be down to trusted moderators to keep conversations flowing without the abuse and small minded cr4p. Over there people know that they can say what they like, get banned and come back right away with another user name. I struggle to see how the club let it go on without obvious moderation.

I hope that you are able to remove posts that are of a bad nature!! the last thing we need is an influx of mindless morons destroying the great harmony we have here now.
