He was a bit unlucky with the booking as we should have had a foul about 5 seconds earlier.

Trouble is that was on Sarr so no chance of getting it.

Doesn’t qualify as a footballer for me given his complete inability to play a simple pass more than a few yards. Completely the good bits of his game for me. Seriously hope we don’t mistake undoubted hard work for skill and potential and sign him in the summer. Building a team around him would be potentially ruinous.

Said something similar in the match thread. He's a headless chicken, and one of the main reasons we have zero control of games

To be fair, he seems to know his limitations, so when he gets the ball in a half decent bit of space he just stops and waits for a teammate to run towards him, rather than attempt and fail a longer pass. Then when there’s a couple of yards between them he plays the nailed on obvious pass that everyone can see coming. Naturally the opposition disrupt it a fair percentage of the time because it’s so blatant. It kills a lot of moves dead before they even get going.

He's clearly a great ball winner, but you only have to look at the amount of times we're cut open because he's made a mad dash to the wings to try and win the ball.

If he was 21/22 then I'd say he's worth the money, as a lot of his bad habits could be coached out of him.

Yep, it's impossible to have any kind of shape with him in the team. He makes some great blocks and challenges, but half the time he was the reason the opposition got the space in the first place.

It's a shame, because I actually like him.

Yep. He's got the footballing equivalent of ADHD unfortunately.

I actually think he's not too bad on the ball. He can carry it and he's fairly athletic, it's just he lacks any quality with his passing

£8m option to buy isn't it? Not sure if that's reliant on us going up, but I think we can safely say he won't be here next season

Admitted earlier in the season he didn’t really have much footballing ability which says it all .

He is good at winning the ball then passing it straight back to our opponents!

Kayembe was better than this total dud, and that is saying something

Certainly been off the pace losing his man a lot recently.

Where is Kayembe? Does he still play for us? I’d totally forgotten he existed until this post.

Honestly, what does the future hold for the big-haired one? A very good ball-winner at this level, but not good enough for the Prem, and with very little else, you'd think he'd be best in a Championship team who accept they won't have much of the ball, but would his ego (or his wallet) accept that sort of team?

Probably be playing for Leicester in the Championship at this rate .

I don’t think we will pay 6 million for him .

I hope we don’t pay £6m. Has virtually no footballing ability yet he is chosen to take the ball of the defenders and start our attacks!

I agree. I like his energy and ball winning, but he’s substandard on the ball. Just gives it away far too often. For £6m I’m sure there are better options for a midfielder with a better combo of a passing and tackling ratio.

I'm amazed he's been at Leicester as long as he has been considering their style of play vs his ability on the ball.

If they're completely skint, then maybe, but if not you'd think they'd challenge for promotion and will look to be on the front foot in games in which case he'd just hold them back

Partially at fault for all three goals at the weekend. First one went haring out wide to provide cover and left a gaping hole in the middle of the box (although no idea where Hoedt was who was somehow miles behind the play). Second one, let his man go for the tap in. Third one the scorer got across the front of him (bit of sympathy here as it was really good movement and an excellent finish).

£6m can buy you more than one Bayo, no way should we be spending that on Choudhury.

I don’t think we will be spending £6m on any player. I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t spend £6m in total.

    Yeah, I'd hope so anyway.

Out of CMs in comparable leagues (from fbref) he's:
He's 89th percentile for tackles, 99th percentile for interceptions and 80th percentile for blocks.

But just 19th percentile for progressive passes, 9th percentile for progressive carries and 1st percentile for shot creating actions.

It's really from the sublime to the ridiculous, and kind of defies the point of winning the ball back if you then can't do anything with it.

I wouldn't rule him out doing well somewhere else, but considering our major issue with breaking down deep-lying Championship defences this season I'm not convinced he'd be a good signing for us for the money.

You could probably get Gustavo Hamer for the same money for example, providing a promoted PL side doesn't sign him - same age as Choudhury, 1 year left on his contract.

He's 82nd percentile for tackles, 47th percentile for interceptions, 80th percentile for blocks.
Plus 91st percentile for progressive passes, 77th percentile for progressive carries, 96th percentile for shot creating actions.

He seems easily one of the most well-rounded DM/CMs in the division.

Will be interesting to see how the two compare against each other today.

Would it be seen as an upwards step though, vs staying put at a team on the up with manager, players and structure he's used to ? I doubt with our debt we can a much better package.

We could still surely offer better wages than Coventry, but there could well be other clubs who could offer better wages than us.

I very much doubt he'd renew at Coventry, the question is surely more where he goes.

We will probably see Choudhury in a Leicester shirt at the Vic next season - signed a new deal there .

If you'd told him when he signed that he'd get a place back in the Leicester team next season I'm sure he'd have been delighted...not sure he'd have wanted it like this though!

Think his contract was up this summer so they’ve taken an option to extend it by 1yr to avoid losing him for free. Agree they’ll want him for their squad though.
