I really liked 1883 - we seem to forget that today's equivalent of a waggon train to the new lands of the west is a trip the the ISS. 1923 I didn't really enjoy - all the one dimensional characters, plots and Helen Mirren's 'Oirish' accept. I didn't have much interest in 'Yellowstone'as one of my American friends in Vilnius was an ex-Federal Park Ranger (Ohio) - he gave up the job of 'interacting' with those who 'ranched' and prospected (mostly illegally) on federal lands to become a TEFL teacher after years of receiving death threats...

New series of Taskmaster starts tonight. Could be epic with Frankie Boyle or he could just be a miserable grumpy git.
Time will tell and generally how a series fares depends on the interation between contestants.

I very rarely watch actual TV these days but there is a decent number of things I like on atm.

Race Across the World on BBC is class. Love that show. Taskmaster as you say is one of the best. Would I lie to you is brilliant. Gogglebox is my guilty pleasure. Quite enjoy Celeb bake off & hunted and of course the new season of Succession has started!

Hunted for me was a bit of a novelty the first series but it got too contrived and scripted. I suppose it was a necessity as those going on it could just have a stash of cash & tinned food somewhere for when the time comes and then just camp in the wilderness for a month.

Currently watching Rise and Fall on Channel Four, it's got a great premise but lacking in something, possibly over produced. I think it's like The Traitors where the second season is massive but for different reasons.

Blue Lights is the Beebs rookie cop drama set in Northern Ireland and it’s pretty darn good. The first, scene setting episode is a little slow, but by the end there is a growing sense of menace that builds in subsequent episodes. It’s not The Wire but it is, in that, like that great series, it reveals the interplay between social strata through crime.

The cast is excellent, particularly John Lynch, who has gone full Cantona and especially because there is no obligatory role for James Nesbitt. IMDB says 8.3.

In this clip, officers respond to reports of a woman with a knife in a Nationalist area of Belfast.

It’s by the same people but I just don’t like it. I prefer tempting fortune which has a better premise.

It’s nowhere near as good as the Traitors but I much prefer it to Rise and Fall. The dynamic is quite interesting when it comes to spending the money and reducing the prize pot.

    Absolutely brilliant show!

One of the worst things about the pandemic was this show being a victim :D

If you are interested in Northern Ireland dramas the film ‘71 was a riveting, hard hitting thriller.

After enjoying The Traitors, my 16 yr old and I just binge watched The Mole on Netflix. Both really enjoyed it to the extent that we actually preferred it to The Traitors. We liked the fact that, as viewers, we didn’t know who “the mole” was and so were guessing along with the contestants. We also preferred the challenges to those on The Traitors (thought they were more interesting to watch) and liked the fact that the mole had to try to reduce the money pot so that there was the likelihood of sabotage on the missions which added another element.

Would also add my name to the list of those who are fans of Race Against The World. I like the fact that the contestants on it generally seem like decent, genuine people there for the right reasons, rather than people trying to become famous through reality tv. Plus it reaffirms your faith in human nature - and opens your eyes to how many amazing places there are to explore out there; makes me wish I was a more adventurous traveller.

The fact that you don't know who the mole is sounds like a much better watch. I'll look that up later.

Much to my shame I started watching Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins USA in a moment of weakness. It's so much better than our one and I'm hooked. One episode to go.

Been watching the Night Agent on the Netflix.

Can't decide if it's excellent or horse manure yet. Suspense every 5 minutes but at the cost of credibility in a too convenient roller coaster storyline.

Wrong thread but I've just seen an abomination of a performance of Phaedra at the Lyttleton.

My friend didn't make the second half!

Having had forty five/fifty years on the terraces I can take a little profanity.

This however was just a **** fest and a waste of Janet Mcteer.

    Shame.

To Janet Mcteer, what a waste of money and cry in a minute, she’s going to cry in a minute…

I only saw the advert for this, but what I thought was revealing was that if you become rich (presumably through exploiting, cheating and being an all round git to the others), then you are able to take it easy.

If you are 'poor' in the program, you have to do hard labour. You have to get your shirt sweaty. Put in some graft.

This is not reality! Loads of rich people have absolutely assured me that *nobody* works harder than them. They slog and sweat all hours in return for their riches.

Surely the 'rich' ones on the program ought to be the ones made to do all the hard work, whilst the 'poor' ones would all sit around drinking gin, scratching lottery cards and watching wide-screen TVs?
