Finished This is Going to Hurt and it was excellent. Probably the most in your face TV in ages.

Not recommended for first time parents. Save it for the long evenings in to come.

TBF, RG's is exactly very much the same as it has always been: "...will this do?". But the supporting characters he's created...

Sorry, yeah I meant I started series 3. 2 episodes in so far.

It's just so repetitive. Really could have been done and dusted in one series.

    They're all a caricatures out of a 70s sitcom.

For research purposes, could you please point me in the direction of a/the 70's sitcom that had a big blond Norf Landon Paddy 'bird' playing a prostitute? I must have missed that episode of "The Good Life" or "Bless this House".

You have the tart with the heart - wow. Extremely amazing and innovative
You have the stuttering boss, who just wants to be his friend
You have the posh, mourning old lady - but wait a minute, she swears! OMG!
You have the fat best mate. He's fat and he's his best mate.
You have the fat young lad who wants to be an actor. He's fat, he's young and he wants to be an actor.
You have the bearded weirdo. He's weird and he has a beard.

    Yeah amazing characters in Afterlife.

First series was OK, I think I got bored halfway through the second series when it came out and ditched it.

Yep. About the same, but Mrs Moog and I have very different tastes, so we tend to watch a lot of things that neither of us likes or hates. I'd say if seiries two was a drop off for you, then series 3 continues that trend.

Started watching Lovecraft Country. Interesting if somewhat disjointed storyline, but some great horror on show so far in the early episodes, much better than any recent big budget movies (and none of the cheap jump scares/cheesy high pitched string music).

As mentioned above, the plot is a little disjointed in places, but it's not too jarring. The monster-horrors have been largely excellent so far, with some pretty nasty gore/kills in places. Worth a look if you like horror, avoid if you can't handle pretty graphic gore.

Wife watched Love is Blind 2 earlier.

Predictably, half an hour in and the show is so cheap and stupid that I almost feel embarrassed to be part of the human race. And so, so smug that I’m not the kind of person that like such shows.

Two hours in and I’m gripped.

    FFS.

Wheras I've stopped watching it as it's just too miserable listening the daily accounts of how many more cities Putin's mob have taken and how many more are killed. The quicker they take over the whole country the better.

Watching The Responder at the moment and whilst I am enjoying it, Martin Freeman does not suit the main role. Had it been Stephen Graham I think it would be exponentially better.

Banned! The Mary Whitehouse Story (BBC iPlayer) was a fascinating overview of the campaigning career of Mary Whitehouse, a figure of huge notoriety over the 1960s-80s who campaigned against sexual explicitness on TV, pornography, sexual liberation and against gay freedom of expression.

The two part series does well to draw on the documentary record to place her within the historical context. She was, undoubtedly, a prude and a bigot who espoused a chauvinistic model of female protection, while enjoying her own power to hobnob with the rich and powerful. She was also not wrong about entirely everything, for example the downsides of the porn industry or where sexual predation dressed up as permissiveness.

Ultimately she lost. She never ‘cleaned up’ TV or there would be no Naked Attraction now. God spared her from the Internet, though you can only imagine the worldwide following she would have on Twitter.

I'm working my way through the Ken Burns documentary on Muhammad Ali, which is on iPlayer at the moment. Fascinating stuff, particularly his relationship with the civil rights movement. Some great boxing footage as well, if you're into that.

I suddenly got in to watching this type of series after watching the one on Bill Cosby:

Apparently Ricky Gervais come out of this Saville one really, really badly (from Popbitch):

This has been a great series with incredible characters. It’s completely different to shows I’ll usually watch and I didn’t think I’d enjoy it, but have been hooked every week.

Watched this last night, what a monster. Amazing he had the whole country fooled for years, and regularly seemingly revelled in making comments essentially admitting what he was doing, but nobody took them seriously.

Saville, incidentally I wouldn’t say Gervais comes out of it particularly badly, he just comes out of it as badly as pretty much anyone who interacted with Saville throughout his entire life.

I like Gervais well enough, but afterlife feels like he's believed all his good reviews and just phoned in a schmaltzy sitcom with stock characters and no actual point. The first series was good, but let down by the fact it led into the dreary 2nd and pointless 3rd.
