Dennis is looking increasingly like a signing purely to appease the fans, only made possible by the player himself taking a pay cut. The club will be hoping that the signing masks the fact that we're going to finish the window with a weaker squad. This will lead to a terrible second half of the season, Pozzo can blame the head coach and continue his reign of terror by sacking Ismael in the summer.
Heaven knows I am no COG but to say 'increasingly' when the player has played 20 minutes of football seems to verge on extreme bed-wetting.
Once fit, can he play centre-forward? And central midfield? And holding midfield? And left back? And right back? Simultaneously?
'Increasingly' had nothing to do with his performance yesterday, more the fact that we have glaring problem areas that don't look like being addressed. Dennis is a great signing which Pozzo will no doubt hope the happy clappers lap up for the rest of the season, while we're playing Dele-Bashiru at right back and Sierralta in midfield.
It's a bit dramatic; whilst I agree we may need one or two new signings, we have key players returning from injury, and Dennis arguably makes our squad much better and is a gigantic improvement on Healey. The only other player to have left so far is Louza, right? Who seemed to be more problematic, Louza seemingly couldn't be arsed and has offered us very little this season.
Tbf he needs time and we were under a lot of pressure defending so not able to get out and attack . Wasn’t the most ideal situation to come on really . EDIT: Or do you mean Healey ?
Dennis was signed because there's the potential Gino can get him in on the cheap over the Summer and then shift him on for profit if he finds some form this season/further down the line. Whilst it does appease the fans I doubt it was their top priority, it's quite clear to Gino that the peasants don't really have the appetite to topple the emperor anytime soon.
Write him off after 3 half game if that? Some did say he hadn't played for a few months - maybe its showing?
The optimism around him assumed two things, he was ready to come in and make an immediate impact, and our form wouldn’t completely collapse at the point he signed. Unfortunately in both respects it probably couldn’t have gone much worse. That said, as unfit as he may be, I think he should just be played into fitness, even unfit he’s way better than anything else we’ve got, and the season is basically over so what exactly do we have to lose? He’s not even our player so it’s not like we’ve got to think about next season. The problem of course though is that Val never really wanted him and his post match comments about subs losing the ball further confirm that.
Of course the club didn’t help themselves with all and hype and PR about him coming .. Maybe got people a bit too excited and optimistic?
It's clear that even prime Deulofeu couldn't rescue this shower of shyt, so it was unrealistic to expect Dennis to be the Messiah. Even though I did expect that. He must start every match. We've got nothing to lose at this point. Even at 60% he's better than whatever hapless terd he's replaced. We're total shyt you see.
He was dog droppings but there is a 1% chance he'll do something ace and win a match for us. For the rest of the duds it's 0.01%. This is where we are now.
What has happened to him ? Is he just unfit, or has he always been rubbish bar half a season of excellence with us ?
He's clearly nowhere near full match fitness having barely played for god knows how long. If we can get him up to speed he's the best attacker at the club. Needs to be playing centrally instead of out wide though.
Trouble is some as usual probably aided by the club videos expected him to come in and bang the goals in straight away .
I’d take Dennis at 5% over Bayo or Rajovic at 100%. The fact that Ismael wouldn’t is kinda symptomatic of everything that is both bad and good with the team currently.
He's definitely not fit but fitness was nothing to do with how bad he was the other night - he just looked clueless. He looked better in his sub appearance against Cardiff.
Wouldn't surprise me if Pozzo only brought him back in the hope that he has an amazing few months and Forest sell him for a big fee in the summer. Assuming we're due money from any sale, Dennis rotting in Turkey isn't going to tempt anyone to spend big on him.
I think Forest destroyed his confidence as he was never really given a chance. He needs to spend the rest of this season getting fit and then get a move to a club like Norwich where their style of attacking play would suit.
And that’s when we had above average players for him to play with. I can’t imagine what he must think of this lot.
