Might be off to Everton according to LouOrns. That said LouOrns goes full Walter Mitty during transfer window.

We might get an over inflated fee then knowing Everton history .

I predict Dennis will flop wherever he goes. None of the top sides with the top coaches will want want him - so he will go to a mid-range side somewhere who won’t be able to deal with his complex character.

Can’t see him carving out a consistent career at a top level to be honest.

I bet you said the same thing when he signed for us. I really hope he joins Villa, W Ham or Villarreal. Can't see him scoring less than 10 goals in a season with the type of manager they have.

    Why them particularly?

Are Moyes and Emery knows for their attacking at all costs football?

    Not sure...

He'd probably be on the bench at Villa at times.

He's his own worst enemy, though it seems that that doesn't deter him from trying to collect more.

Go back and try and find evidence of me saying that - I guarantee you won’t find any.

If Villarreal keep their squad together - he won’t get in their side regularly.
West Ham - he’ll fall out with Moyes.
    Villa - Ditto Gerrard.

He’s a good player. But his attitude simply cannot be ignored. It worked for the main part for us because we could choose to ignore his character when he was so cheap. Clubs being asked to spend £20m+ on him would be wise to be very very careful.

Seems they agree he is a risk at £20 million!

According to WD18, some shmuck on SSN has claimed that no clubs are willing to meet our £20m asking price.

If he really goes for less it’s on Hodgson. Easily gets another 2/3 goals under a competent manager and his season looks much better (and more consistent).

I'd say it's as much on the player himself. Widely known that he wasn't a team player even by our 'teams' standards. The guy has huge questions over his mentality and his career to date backs that up firmly.

Isn’t Bridges talking about last summer? Quote is oddly worded but reads like that to me.

We stopped attacking, almost entirely. What are the goal scoring stats under Hodgson? I’d guess Cucho possibly the best?

Dennis did become more selfish, which was frustrating, but kinda understandable imo. Everyone else was steaming garbage. I’ve played amateur games where I was better than my teammates. I’d mostly pass the ball to be kind, but if something needed doing it was far more efficient to do it myself!

But then why would clubs be neglecting to pay £20m, if this was the agents saying ‘his value will increase to £20m in 1 season’? They wouldn’t have to pass on that fee, because he was available for £3m last summer.

  18. UEA_Hornet

But then why would Bridges say ‘and not one club wanted to pay £20m’ when we’re only 4 weeks into this summer? As I say, to me it’s oddly worded. Probably clearer in an actual clip of him speaking.

You’ve mentioned his mentality a couple of times. Beyond the obvious public stuff we know, is there an implication in your recent posts that more stuff happened with him this year?

Or it could just be a case of Watford fans over valuing their players again. Sarr £70m, Dennis £35m. Pretty sure people think that Louza will eventually go for £25m-£30m as well. Chalobah £50m :) :)

I think ‘nobody has indicated they will be willing to pay the £20m Watford want this summer’ makes a lot more sense than ‘nobody wanted to pay £20m last summer for a player who was for sale for £3m’

No, just I see what’s happened previously at his other clubs, then the AFCON thing, and then finally the story about him failing to integrate with our squad/playing for himself/ignoring instructions and I figure there comes a time when you have to comfortably assume the player is a problem to handle…

To be fair, Darwin Nunez would have been available for far less than £100m last summer but Liverpool have still paid that (or will do after clauses).

I suspect it’s a case of Watford sending agents out far and wide and saying ‘Do you want Dennis? The bidding starts at £20m…’ and there’s not been a single club that’s perked up.

Clubs will probably think they can get him for £12m-£16m if they wait. And I think they’d be right.

This has all the hallmarks of one of those classic forum back and forths over nothing so happy to park it. Hopefully we can both agree there's no obvious reason Michael Bridges would have any special insight regardless!

Yeah I have no idea who he is and SSN aren’t great at getting exclusive scoops, so hopefully it’s bull****, whatever it is he’s trying to say.

I am certain one of the barmies on here or Twitter said he could still be a £50m player about 6 months before we released him for free. May we’ll be talking gibberish though and can’t remember who it was. Just remember I burst out laughing when I read it,

Oh sure sure, undoubtedly that will have happened - sort of get the feeling it might even have been Troy originating it, along the lines of 'if he reaches his potential'

Ok so it was him, but it was 4 years ago, when he'd only been at the club for a year and everything was very rosy in the (front) garden!

To be fair, Chalobah was the most capped U21 player under Southgate and had just broken into the full national side when Deeney said this. Wasn’t beyond the realms of possibility at the time until his injury.

No, not particularly surprising at the time.

Even then it was only because of his "Chelsea grounding". It's the same reason that Fletch will one day be a £50m player due to his MU grounding. Just hope he realises that potential while still on our books.

  34. Chumlax

Well, by the looks of his recent MLS disciplinary charge, grounding is strongly embedded in him.
