This Tuesday evening, the Saints are once again in Emirates FA Cup replay action at Clarence Park after a 94th equaliser on Saturday earned them a 1-1 draw at Corinthian-Casuals. The winner of the fixture will make their way through to the First Round Proper.

We will have our two food areas - the main area, at the York Road end of the ground, will be serving a range of hot food options, including beef, lamb, chicken burgers, and a vegan option - with a second area selling a range of wraps from the FanZone at the Hatfield Road end. Both our Satellites** and 1908 pitchside bars will also be open and serving Carlsberg, San Miguel, and 3 Brewers' Golden Ale - all on draught (card payments only) - throughout the evening. The clubhouse will also be open from 6.15pm onwards.

The club shop, located at the York Road end of the main stand, will also have plenty of Saints merchandise available for purchase.

The turnstiles will be open from 6.15 pm. Kick-off is 7.45 pm.

Watford ST holders get admission at the £11 concession price (students and under 16s are £6 and under 12s go free) - pre-purchase tickets here:
    https://fanzone.stalbanscityfc.com/...p-replay-st-albans-city-v-corinthian-casuals/

Or purchase by card at the turnstiles (show your season ticket to get the concession price)

If St Albans get through and are drawn at home to, say, Sunderland, where would that game be played?

No need to worry about that as - if we get past Corinthian-Casuals - we will host Forest Green Rovers. It was FGR that prevented the Saints from having a day out at Wembley when they beat us over two legs in the semi finals of the FA Trophy

Good chance of a TV game if you get through ?

Certainly a decent chance for that with FGR top of League 2. However, we do first of all need to get past the Casuals on Tuesday evening...

Would be nice to see St Albans make it to the top flight of non-league football again and stay there this time, but obviously it's going to be tough as you're competing against some strong teams (I imagine Dartford and Maidstone are favourites, Ebbsfleet are up there as usual, and maybe Hampton can finally get that elusive promotion?). Sadly the money driving football today has recently filtered down to non-league, as witnessed when you get a phoenix club King's Lynn instead of a proper club with real history like York in the National League, Forest Green and Harrogate in the top two of League 2, Fleetwood in their eighth successive season in League 1 and Crawley still in the FL. So it would be good to see a club like St Albans doing it the good old-fashioned way with hard graft and good management rather than throwing money at everything.

And of course the most famous of them all Salford!

An odd decision in many ways for the "Class of 92" when some of them had Bury connections and obviously needed the investment at the time before their sad demise.

To be fair, the "Class of 92" bought Salford in 2014 at which time Bury were being relatively successful and gained promotion to League 1 that season, where they remained for three years. It was from 2018 onwards that their financial problems really came to the fore under their last two owners.

There have been a few threads on Saints (not the Hampshire lot!) on this forum.

Is this something to do with the fact there are good vibes at the club and a feeling this season could be their year (for only the second time in their history), as reflected by their excellent start with another win this weekend?

Had a look at their recent history (FCHD is a great resource, seems to cover every club both league and non-league in England and Scotland, though it’s not mobile-friendly) - since coming back up from the Southern League they’ve made generally steady progress, with the exception of 2019/20 (no idea what went wrong there, the Wikipedia article is missing recent history). 2020/21 was excellent but unfortunately like all the others below Step 1 abandoned due to COVID, looks like the Saints are carrying on that good form.

Well done St Albans to beat FGR and in the hat for FA Cup round 2
    A few hangovers tomorrow.

Amusing watching their fans chanting “City, City ...”
The proper big Hertfordshire club, poor Watford only a town.

Very good quality football and the stamina to last out against full-timers.

Looks like they'll win promotion to the National League as well, though that might break up the squad as they'll have to go full-time. And is Clarence Park big enough to support a full-time team?

Third* vs fourth team in Hertfordshire (used to be the other way round for a long time). And I learned recently the two are rivals, don't know how intense it is though in non-league terms.

*Could be second sooner rather than later the way Stevenage are going!

I've watched a fair bit of St Albans over the years, right back to the days when they were ruled out of promotion to the Conference because they had a tree on the terrace at one end, and especially the season they got promoted to the National League South via the play-offs. That year Hemel won the title and went up automatically. Saints won a brilliant play-off final at Chesham United in front of about 3,000 fans. And Wealdstone went up the same year as champions of the Isthmian League.

It'll be a long slog to win promotion. There's some strong clubs in National League South – Dartford, Ebbsfleet, Maidstone, who've all been in the top division of non-league football. But they've got a strong chance of making the play-offs.

Not sure they'd have to go full-time if they went up. Last time they were in the Conference (around 2006) they stayed part-time. Wealdstone are also part-time and are just about holding their own in the National League.

Watford fans of a certain vintage will know that the Saints manager, Ian Allinson, scored the opening goal for Arsenal in our 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final win at Highbury in 1987. Bit of a mix-up between Coton and McClelland and Allinson nipped in to score. However, we tore them to bits in the second half and there was the last minute controversy where they all stood round shouting for a penalty while Blissett ran up the other end and stuck it in the net.

Would be surprised if that’s true, the two are quite close but have barely played each other. If it’s not the Wood, Hitchin Town would make more sense as they have played in the same division as St Albans a fair few times and have been Hertfordshire’s third team on occasion (though they haven’t been that for a long time).
