Bangladesh is a BIG country - 172 million population. The female president, Sheikh Hasina, has just been driven out after violent protests.

She is the daughter of the founding president of the country and has had two spells in power lasting over 20 years. She won a lot of acclaim for taking in a huge number of Rohingya refugees fleeing the slaughter in Myanmar What an alien culture where the public is happy about refugees coming in.

On the (very) negative side, according to Wikipedia, there was violence, fixed elections, lots of disappearances, economic mismanagement, unemployment and rampant, rampant corruption.

Maybe this might have attracted the attention of certain western media and governments? Like in Venezuela or Cuba for example? Imagine if Cuba had that sort of record. It is indefensible. But no sanctions or blockades or attacks or invasions or why oh why tear-stained newspaper articles about the poor oppressed Bangladeshi.

I have to say, dear reader, that this is the first time I had even heard of the Sheikh and her apparent misrule.

The reason she came to my attention, is that she was going along fine but then the Yankees (who else....) decided they would like one of their military bases on a little 3km island close to China that belongs to Bangladesh, called Saint Martin. A beautiful unspoiled paradise. They would like to buy it they said, with that perfect toothy US shark grin.

The previous president was up for it. He was going to sell. But then the Sheikh got back into power and with a female obstinance that is global, told Uncle Sam he could do one. National territory and not for sale.

A fatal mistake. She was told the US now wanted her out and violent protests were fired up and she was chased away in to India. Well good riddance I suppose.

And the new President? Well he's a neo-liberal business friendly sort. You know. A 'moderate'.

When the dust settles, we shall see whether the new 'guy' is more open to US assistance with both national and international security. As well as some USAID perhaps?

In fact 95% of the British public will not hear anything about it and wouldn't be interested even if they did. Not when there are the concerns about whether Katie Celebrity's skirt is too short or if a new royal baby has popped out.

Meanwhile China fumes. There is no reason for US aggression towards China and it makes the world a more dangerous place.

Finally also to note that China has overtaken the US in public perception in large parts of the globe according to a new survey that came out. In Africa for the first time and increasing in Latin America and South Asia (obviously not every country in those regions but overall).

US 'help' comes with violence, bombs, invasion, domination, fruitcake 'missionaries' oddballs building churches, exploitative private investment, massive debt payments etc. Much of what they give goes wrongly and encourages corruption which ruins those countries.

China builds infrastructure, forgives 3rd world debts, ships food, sends locomotives and buses and technology.
