Yep. Because Deeney will take credit for wins but no responsibility for losses.

The Kid is in the Zola category of mediocre to poor tactician, but much better manager of personalities than Ivic/Sannino, which might just be enough...

Javi was and is a fantastic boss, got the best out of a mediocre squad, but with Deeney around, we were stuck playing 4-4-2 which has its limitations...

What annoyed a lot of people about Javi was his silly grin and tactics. I began to lose faith in him when we lost at home to Burnley. Ben Mee was coming on for them and I knew he would cause problems. Javi made more or less no
countering subs and low and behold we lost. It wasn't just that game - the prep for the start of last season was abysmal, if that really was all down to him. He seemed a nice bloke to have a pint with in the pub - but by the end I think
most fans wanted to smash said glass over his head.

Xisco appears to me to be cut from the same cloth.

To motivate these players and get a push together with some monentum, it's fine, but that's not enough to be a sustainably successful coach. Time will tell.

A nomination for the sporting turnaround of the season upcoming.
I thought you did the gardening or went for a walk or something most of the last ten games.
I’m sure the Xisco Kid will welcome your new found support for his team.

I disagree about Javi he managed us to our highest ever Premier league finish and a major cup final, and we were a relatively average squad, we were mostly organised and hard working under him. If Gino would have bought some players and improved the areas we needed to do he would have been fine in his final season.
I think we need to give Xisco more credit also he has an incredible record. I am not sure what he does on the training ground but the system often looks a bit like something you would see in Spain with he way the front players move around, so that makes me think that there is a level of coaching involved. He certainly deserves more respect than being called an idiot by our own fans when he is winning almost every week.

There is definitely a lot of rotation between the front 3 + Zinck with Hughes & Chalobah anchoring behind which I think is probably down to his Spanish background and he deserves credit for getting that through to the players. Not sure his tactical acumen is up to significant tweaking when required, but what we’re seeing is much more in tune with the players available.

Has to be said that the wind yesterday did neither side any favours in the end. Cardiff couldn't lean on set pieces and crosses as reliably as they would have liked but it also led to an increased amount of errors in our passing / judgement as well on the floor.

To be totally honest I cannot remember fully, but I do remember the subs in that game were not what was required at that particular time. It's just one example anyway. I am sure there are a few more people could pluck from the past too.

I might be doing Munoz a disservice, but I get the strong impression that it was the players who took it upon themselves to change the mindset of the team and employ more of an attacking intent which has been evident from the Bristol City game onwards. By then we had already played eight largely turgid games under him. I assume it was his decision to move to 4-3-3 once Deeney was injured, so all credit to him for that, and I’m sure he has encouraged a better atmosphere at the training ground but I do think the change in our season is mostly down to the players themselves.

I actually rate Javi as our best Pozzo manager after Joka (hard to judge Pearson as IMO he wasn't here long enough). There was a team spirit and sense of pride felt watching them that otherwise hasn't been there over a sustained period since the Arsenal quarter final (jury is obviously still out on Munoz). And interestingly, Deeney was in the team for much of that era, so it shows he hasn't always been a bad influence since 2015/16.

Jokanovic was only Watford manager for 13 games more than Pearson (36 vs 23).

Joka was here for well over half a season, a long enough period for him to be judged, in his case extremely positively. The difference between him and Pearson may have only been 13 games, but for me that's enough, especially when you consider Pearson was severely hampered by a combination of key players being out and COVID.

I said before the season we should pay Deeney to play for Birmingham if no one else wanted him. At the start of the season everyone was talking about the great team spirit. Deeney came back and everything went to sh1t with Ivic and then Xisco. Xisco wouldve been sacked if Deeney hadnt got injured. Without Deeney suddenly we have a great team spirit again. The biggest threat to our promotion chances this season is Deeney returning to the squad. Ivic without Deeney = great team spirit
Ivic with Deeney = toxic environment/divided dressing room
Xisco with Deeney = toxic environment/divided dressing room
Xisco without Deeney = great team spirit, 2nd in the league.
It's very obvious what the problem is. We have a great squad and Troy is the problem.
Last season the bad apples were Turncoat Doucoure and Deeney.
Really hoping Gino is on top of the current situation with Troy. We cant risk jeopardising the current team spirit if we wanna get promoted.

They may have called the meeting but it's unlikely Deeney or Foster had any input on the switch to 433. It mustve been the talented players in the squad like Sarr. Our 3 Z list celebrities - the cycling youtuber, the pop star's girlfriend and the rentamouth thug have done us more harm then good this season. It's been mainly younger players that have been key under Xisco like Hughes Sarr JP and Sierralta. Kiko and Clevs being notable exceptions. Players like Foster and Deeney weren't focussed on the job in hand. WFC is just one of their interests.

Just watched the extended highlights .
At the end when the handbags started yes FS had a dig at the
Cardiff honeymonster no. 5 and run away . It's what I would tell
my players to do . Hit and run . Mick McCarthy was a little vague
with his version of events tho as he never mentioned Cardiff players
being very diplomatic when Isaac Success weighed in.
Anywho . This team of ours seem to have a sense of togetherness and
have become the "likeable lads" unlike recent teams . IMO.

I don't agree. They could have changed before Munoz arrived if it was that easy. The players under Ivic were saying things like "Well he certainly knows what he wants", whereas instantly players were saying that they were starting to enjoy playing again when Munoz arrived. You can't expect everything to click on the pitch straight away, particularly when you've got Deeney demanding "forget about trying to play football" get the long ball up to him so he "can do the rest", etc. I reckon Deeney was so powerful that the only way to get rid was through an injury. The fact that Deeney has been so quiet recently speaks volumes.

I cannot see Deeney starting again for us as he doesn't fit the mobile 4-3-3 system.
However the new slimline Success I can see slotting in across the front 3

I respect what Deeney has done for us I really do, but I’ll be glad if we never see him play for us ever again. If he starts a game between now and the end of the season Gino deserves everything he’ll get as a result.

Well, I think the increased attacking intent was evident well before Bristol City, but it wasn't yet working very well - Ivic had spent quite a bit of time and effort inculcating a totally defensive outlook and they found it hard to sustain the changes through the 90 minutes.
I believe you're right about the players' involvement, but I don't think it is really down to managerial weakness: It looks very much like Munoz has adopted a collegial approach: This will give the players a great deal more 'ownership' of the decisions.
Ivic was very much 'old-school', draconian, 'my-way-or-the-highway'. I'm sure Munoz was a breath of fresh air after that, both on and off the pitch. Anyway, 21st Century players, who each earn a ton of money and will be pretty independent, would find it difficult to respond positively to Ivic. Watching them play strongly indicated that.
Ivic must be given credit for setting up our defensive strength and, by the way, for helping nudge a number of expensive want-aways out the door. Munoz has built on that.
Those with plenty of faith, which certainly doesn't include all of you, might be tempted to think Pozzo and the hierarchy plotted it that way: First the heavy, 'bad-cop', followed by the liberating, friendly, 'good cop'. Machiavellian? But then he was also an Italian.

Masina's goal was a brilliant moment.

Makes it easy to forget how amazing Chalobah's skill and strike was for the first (in the right net). Top quality.

His best goal since Leicester away?

Yes, it's a great feeling to like the players in yellow again. If we get promoted we really shouldnt go back down the path of accommodating egos like Deeney and Doucoure, part timers like Pereyra and spineless fanny merchants like Deulofeu. We need hungry players who would die for each other on the pitch not entitled prima donnas who think they r bigger/better than the club. The top earners should be the most committed players not individuals 'slumming it' at watford. Doucoure thought he was going to a top PL club or PSG ended up at a club thats gonna spend a billion quid just to get back to the level they were at under Moyes LOL. Deeney claimed Mourinho might buy him or that he'd score 20 goals in the champo, ended up with 1 goal from open play and nearly destroying our promotion hopes. Let's face it the reason players like Pereyra and Deulofeu ended up at Watford is cos they are Mentality Midgets. They have the skills but not the mental strength to be top players. I didn't see any mentality midgets out on the pitch in Cardiff. Foster admitted this week he had the ability but not the mentality to play for Man United. Thats why he's been relegated 4 times from the prem. Bachmann isnt as good a keeper as Foster but he wants it, he really fookin wants it. Imagine what its like playing with that booming werewolf growling behind you instead of Troy's incessant bitching and whining! And we are finally in a position where our most talented players on the pitch are totally committed to the cause.

Add to that the pace he showed to get back at Murphy to sheppard the ball out of play first half. He looks totally rejuvenated and long may it last.
I wasn't happy with the Xisco appointment and still believe he stumbled across the formation due to DeeKnees perfectly timed injury. But he Xisco is definitely making me eat my words, the togetherness, passion and desire is just a joy to watch and I for one give him massive credit for this. I'm actually looking forward to watching them again Instead of dreading. Two more cup finals before a well deserved break for the boys. Credit to Zinckernagel too for not shirking his responsibilities in the engine room, not his favoured position but is growing into the team.
