When you first joined WFC Forums, you had to think up a username on the spur of the moment. Then you're stuck with it forever.

Are you happy with your choice? Are you at peace with it?

If you had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would you? Could you?

Would you adjust it, or change it altogether?

For my part, I'd probably change mine for the time being to 'Bacari-Bronze of the Kremlin'

  2. Ilkley

Ilkley Formerly known as An Ilkley Orn Baht 'at

At the time "An Ilkley Orn Baht 'at" seemed like a clever play on "On Ilkley Moor Baht 'at" for a hornet fan living near Ilkley. But now it seems unnecessarily long. In the light of the Chief Superintendent of the Grammar Police being called simply "Keighley" (which is just a few miles away from Ilkley), perhaps I should just ask for my name to be just "Ilkley", seeing as how I am, by inclination, a Sergeant in said force.

I still get the odd PM from folk wanting to know about UEA, because they or their child is thinking of going there. I have to explain I haven’t set foot there in nearly 15 years…

My original name was 20-20Vision, but I left for a while and when I returned technical incompetence prevented me from using it again. A flood of Udinese reserves was pouring into Watford and I was unhappy as I'd never heard of any of them. Later, things were going well so I amended it.

My first thought was undoubtedly the best.

When I first signed up in 2014 I had the user name watfordfemale but got a lot of stick and slander for that. Eventually it got too much so I changed it to my first and middle name. Actually prefer this one. I can change it anytime but I very much doubt I will.

I adopted my username after an attempted insult by a Luton fan 20 odd years ago, when I signed up (maybe 2008?) I was still in the MSN/Hotmail phase and thought it was funny. Can't say I like it now, but also I'm not creative enough to think of anything better!

My name is Dave. I support Watford Football Club.

I wouldn't change it because I don't have an original thought in my head.

Simple, straightforward and hugely uninteresting. I'm sorry you've wasted your time reading this.

Nothing wrong with that Dave, nothing wrong at all. I used to moderate a Java forum and one of the members had the user name of "somebody". It was pretty strange, but then again it was computer forum.

I wouldn’t have called myself my username if I was to do it all again. But not sure I can be bothered to change it now.

Especially given all of the work I’ve put into building my brand.

Can it be that it was all so simple then ?
Or has time rewritten every line ?

That’s correct our user names are our brands built up over many years, think of the chaos which would be caused if members swapped user names it would be like supporting WFC not knowing what was happening, posters would have personality changes overnight!

    Not really.

I chose it as it was the pub we went to before games. Now it's shut and half the people on here probably don't know it existed. I imagine people think I'm some sort of authoritarian who gives a thumbs up to slavery.

I associate the persons avatar to them much more than the username if that makes sense. I can scroll quickly through a thread and see an avatar that I know makes good posts and will stop to read. People changing avatars makes it weird for me, not usernames.

I'm not a fan of my 2nd username but love the avatar of Tony Coton.

Mine was initially named after a website I made for a school project, that I gave thought to actually trying to get off the ground - I didn’t, meaning it’s superfluous, but I’m used to it now and have nothing clever to change it to.

I chose mine as the 1963/4 season was the first one in which I went to nearly every home game. Then I got reminded the first game I actually went to was in October 1962, but I couldn’t be bothered to change it.

I chose mine after watching/reading Lord of the Rings for the umpteenth time and thought it would make trolls and Orcs beware.
Hadn't even thought of the obvious association with the singer

(my being about the size of a hobbit had nothing to do with it either)

But people do change their avatars!
What happened to the cute redhead Skyla?

I used to be a hornet avatar but changed to a moose - to reflect our club’s split personality schizoid identity.

And I used to live in SA so Sahorn is obviously a very clever play (lol) on horn and hornet although it should really be an antler from a hart not a moose which is on Watford’s crest which is of course different to a horn as horns are for life but antlers grow back but most us identify as horns for life but some may have shed their support this season in antler like fashion and I’m beginning lose my mind and disappear up my own ….

That was Princess Daisy from Super Mario Bros. I had that for ages but wanted a change so that went to Wednesday Addams and now this one. It was never about the avatar for me back then, it was more the very unplesant stick I got for pointing out my gender within my screen name, which possibly was a mistake on my part for doing that, but in no way did it warrent the grief I got for it from certain members.

Yes it was you, so thank you for that. If I remember, also Burnsy and a few of the Moderators (before I was one) were all very kind to me through that period. I've moved on now from that, and I hope nobody else gets that sort of mindless harassment.
