    Thanks Ben.

    Seattle 0-0 Houston

Seattle was at home, had a HUGE home field advantage tonight with great support and couldn't get a win. Like a W for Houston...

    Chivas 2-2 Galaxy

Keeper Ricketts got hung up to dry on two defender Omar Gonzalez mistakes, and the Galaxy failed to put away 3 really good chances...

Anyway, no violence or strangeness, apart from the local High School Marching Band being placed right next to the Away supporters section...we had to cheer louder to overcome them...

11 games for Beckham as a G next year...I'm sooooo done with him swallowing up the Galaxy salary cap...

One of my LARS friends met Beckham at the Lakers game:
I really like this. I've known Samo since he was 3. He's a worldly kid and knows the deal with Beckham, so he really had to be on his best behavior, and he was. Getting to see this side of David is refreshing and helps me forget all the crap that's gone down if just for a while.

    Cheers David!

Nov 8th, the Galaxy host their first home playoff game in 3 years.

    I will not be there.

My STUPID job has me in Nashville form about 4 hours before the game until 90 minutes before the next playoff game, should we win, on Friday the 13th.

    Goddammit!

    I am so p*ssed off...

I want to say the F word repeatedly and loudly.

Sorry to hear that Fitz. That really is a kick in the nuts.

    Thanks Lukey.
Good luck to Houston today against Seattle.

Real Salt Lake, the 5th place western team defeated the defending champs and #1 eastern seed Columbus Crew already to advance to the Eastern Conference final.

The Fire beat New England to put the Revolution out of it already, too.

Looks like Beckham has gone on record saying he is happy not to go to Qatar, while still being respectful to the England team. I approve.

    Houston wins in overtime...congrats Lukey.

They move on to face the winner of the Galaxy/Chivas currently in progress 0-0 in the 43'.

1-0 to the Gs on a PK....1 minute plus stoppage left...

    EDIT:
    G's win!
Houston to face LA in LA on Friday.
Godammit, I hate Nashville. I have never missed LA more than I do now.

    Firstly,
Congrats on progressing - great news. And a good match-up it seems - for this place as well with you and Luke being on opposite sides.

As for the "missing the event" bit - let me tell you a story.

In the olden days - 1991-1992, I finished the DK equivalent of high school - worked for 6 months and had a choice of two things to do with the cash.
    A. The European Championships were to be held in Sweden so if Denmark qualified I could go to see the matches.
    B. Should Denmark fail to qualify I had decided to go travelling in Australia.

Well Denmark missed out to Yugoslavia and I booked my ticket and travelled round Australia in a 1973 Ford Cortina. Lovely.

As luck would have it, my DK team Lyngby were doing quite well while I was out there. Furthermore, Yugoslavia were kicked out due to the civil war and Denmark were suddenly in Euro92.

Well Lyngby won the Danish Chamionships with a last day win against our fiercest rivals. And - as we all know - Denmark were crowned champions of Europe.

All this I missed - the Euro92 final is something which rivals the Kennedy shooting in the "I remember exactly where I was when..." category for Danes. 1mio people in the city hall square in the center of copenhagen.

The greatest moments in Danish footballing history and I missed it all. I got back home 2 weeks after the final. So just because you miss a match...

Ha ha, great story. I needed that. This training meeting SUCKS!! It makes missing the game a small deal in comparison.

    I have a BAD ATTITUDE!

May the best team in orange win.

I'm going to have to sort myself out somewhere to view this online. In honesty, i dont even know how it works for the play-offs. Is it a one-off clash? Two legs? Or what?

All in all i am just glad that i managed to nail my colours to the mast of a winner! Makes a change for once.

And Kris, that is a tale of savage heartbreak!

Yes, you've done well with your MLS front running.

They really are a good franchise.
This will be a tough game for both teams.

The first round, which has just been completed, is a home and home series.
The second round is single elimination. The winner advances to the MLS Cup on Nov. 22.

The four teams left are LA & Houston and Real Salt Lake & Chicago.

Chicago and LA have the home field advantage.

I have no prediction. I hope the Galaxy win!

Isaac alludes to Dema Kovalenko and Chivas coach Preki's attempt to fight him after the match.

When the final whistle blew, apparently Dema look over at Preki, put his hands on his hips and thrust his pelvis towards him, then turned around to walk across the field into the locker room. Provocative, but hardly worth fighting over, yet we are talking about the most classless of all MLS teams, Chivas.

Preki blew a gasket and rushed him. Galaxy coach Bruce Arena got to Preki before Preki could get to Dema. I believe my friend Karen snapped this photo of Bruce in the brown jacket taking it to Preki in the Comex trackie:

Bruce is fat and old, but he'd still kick the bejeezis out of Preki because he is smarter and tougher.

Good old MLS...half English football, half Mexican futbol, half Australian rules football, and 150% American.

    Hi Fitz,

We got back home late last night.

What a bummer you could not go to the 2nd leg at your place, but brilliant that the Galaxy made it through :jumping1: I bet you would rather quit your job than miss the next game, good luck with that.

It was great to meet up with you in Santa Monica, see you in Newcastle!!!

I'll PM you about the Friday night etc. soon.

I land at LAX Friday at 8pm and the game kicks off at 8pm...it takes about 20 minutes to get to Victoria Street.

This game was almost scheduled for Thursday...someone would have been killed in that case.

The Los Angeles Galaxy reached the MLS Cup final after a 2-0 extra-time victory over the Houston Dynamo in a game halted twice for floodlight failure on Friday.
The Galaxy will meet the winner of the Eastern Conference final on Saturday between Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake City in next Sunday's final in Seattle to determine the MLS champions. The floodlights went out in the 18th minute, causing an almost 20-minute break, and the same happened again six minutes after the interval with stadium officials blaming the local grid for the failure. Houston came close to taking the lead in the 78th minute when Brian Ching's header was spectacularly tipped over by L.A. keeper Donovan Ricketts and from the resulting corner Andrew Hainault headed home but the effort was ruled out for an infringement.
After the game ended goalless in regulation time, it was L.A. who went in front in the 13th minute of extra time when Beckham floated a free-kick into the box, Omar Gonzalez headed the ball down and defender Gregg Berhalter slid the ball home. The Galaxy wrapped up the win when Houston midfielder Ricardo Clark brought down Alan Gordon and Landon Donovan confidently converted the penalty in the second period of extra time.
The Galaxy, MLS winners in 2005, are now one win away from being crowned champions in a season that saw Beckham jeered by his own fans amid reports of dressing room unease.
Beckham, who will join AC Milan on loan in January, said that period had helped the team gel. "There is nothing wrong with a bit of controversy in a club -- it brings players together and it did that," he told ESPN television.
"Its so important for us to do well, we have had so many disappointments over the past four years ... we have a great bunch of guys who work hard for each other," he added.
