Very poor not to ensure that a representative from the local media can be there to document what is said.

I'll declare an interest here, as a journalist. Back in the day, local media was always invited – or at least allowed – to attend the fans forum. Having an independent, professional person there to take an accurate record of who says what is not something any party should fear.

FTRE end have portrayed themselves as the self labelled voice of the fans for a long time now and their approach to this speaks volumes.

Is anyone surprised? This is the most exciting thing to happen to most these old blokes running the fans pages, they run fan pages for crying out loud! Of course they are wetting themselves at the chance to finally break some exclusive news.

Fair play to them but it really isn’t surprising, the world runs on self interest.

 

Personally I think the availability of audio means that supporters unable to attend will receive much more coverage than they would from a live blog or an article writing it up. I don’t know why/if such a trade off was necessary, but I am looking forward to listening to the audio which will provide much greater transparency than those brief summaries the club put up of fans’ forums in the past.

For those on here complaining that this is just another fans forum; when was the last one? Isn’t the point that the club be available and transparent and accountable as they have not been for some time.

I hope the lucky attendees turn up laser focussed on the important issues regarding Mogi Bayat and club finances and don’t faff around/waste this opportunity demanding responses on the format of the event (which the club did not appear to set).

It's an astonishing win for Gino. An obligatory piece of openess that is BAU for every other club in the league, has been blown up to such an extent and allowed to divide the fanbase so conclusively. Gino must be rubbing his hands at the fall out.

He has played these podders like a pennywhistle and they have danced to his tune.

It will be hilarious if he doesn't even show up.

 

He will turn up. The recorded bit will be bland, the unrecorded "you had to be there" section will have them lapping it up.

 

If the audio release is a spliced and diced version of what gets said that’s disappointing - but I don’t have an issue with podcasts/YT channels benefitting from being in the room and subsequent engagement as they’ve organised this event. Nobody else was going to do it.

Makes sense. Just hope it's more than a 'highlights' compilation. If it's basically a full account, this saga is a whole lot of noise about nothing and the fanbase just eating itself a few days before quite a major event.

 

This entire exercise is about appeasing angry fans who are just caught up in the herd mentality without any critical thought.
Dangle something shiny in front of one, get them going “wow Watford are BACK” and watch the mob change tac and go along with that train of thought.

The club want to control the narrative and buy some good-will whilst divulging as little as possible and making as few commitments as they possibly can.

No grown-ups allowed in the room. No professional journalists. Just bloggers. Offer them a signed shirt and they’ll report back whatever you tell them to.

And there’s not a chance the full event is recorded and shared. There will be ‘off the record’ discussions (nothing juicy, just lies with no accountability) and the recordings will be heavily edited before release.

The whole thing’s a farce.

Off the record Dux will woo the attendees with transfer hints and derogatory remarks about Luton and Hodgson so they’re eating out his hand when the recorder goes on and the careful, bland answers to the curated questions begin

Then the recorder will go off at the end and man of the people Dux will hand behind and give some more off the record chat to the chosen few, ensure they all take to social media afterwards parroting the “we’re in good hands” narrative

 

Just wait until the podders find out the whole thing has to be conducted in Italian.
