Ofner has a remarkable likeness to John Stape, husband of Fiz in Coronation Street.

In this era one would have to say Djokovic at present because of the spread of his achievements.

Nadal certainly most admired and liked along with Federer. Djokovic much less so but has to have the respect. Oddly enough he craves the love but people just don't like him,he tries too hard and appears false.

Laver as ever should be considered due to missing six years and twelve possible titles due to turning pro. In the days when you won a couple of grand and a Lillywhites voucher for winning a major!

    Oh thanks for mentioning it.

Didn't know it was on but will do.

"Days of Grace" by dear Arthur Ashe is a fabulous book and extremely sad, especially the note to his daughter as he is dying from AIDS infected blood due to a transfusion for his heart condition.

"Jo Dhurie" as Alistair McIver from Pentland called her was spot on!

Entertaining Mr Sloane DID "wander" into the net just now!

Playing very well now 0-5 to 5 all v Nurse Diesel.

    Jeepers!

Bobby Wilson you silly old misogynistic ****!

Used to see him at Finchley Manor club.

    Great programme!

Like a rewind to my youth this is. Torben Ulrich, now best known as Lars' dad. He hired a practice court to "empty his mind" and meditate. Much to Abe Segal's bemusement!

'A Handful of Summers' by Gordon Forbes.

If you haven't read it do so.

    Jabeur through easily.

Sorribes Tormo beguiling Haddad Maia having been 2-5 down.

Pretty comfortable for the favourites in the ladies - Iga didn't even have to finish a set!

Ruud easily though as well but Rune had to win a 5th set tie break.

    Shame for Cerundolo.

Saw he was up in the fourth.

Did he have chances in the fifth?

Shame for Tsurenko too as she's had a lot of injuries.

Hannah Klugman qualified and won a round, lost 6&5 to 2 seed from States today. McDonald also out. That's the girls done I think. Others lost yesterday.

    Not sure about boys.

Few break points at 4-4 then he lost his serve before breaking back so probably be very frustrated there.

Looks like the last 2 mens games will be over soon.

    Saba and Muchova into semis.

Saba seems unstoppable at present. Perhaps Swiatek can?

Djokovic. The numbers stack up. And one more Grand Slam will 'seal the deal'. Best opportunity probably Wimbledon.

Alcatraz humiliating Tsitsi infront of the tennis world tonight.

A horrible situation but a broken man at present.

Yes a brutal demonstration of tennis.

    Total demolition.

Mind you Tsitsipas has broken back so showing some resistance.

He'll never give up and that's the beauty of tennis, you can always come back.

I would liken it up until 5-2 in the third to Lew Hoad destroying Ashley Cooper before Hoad turned pro in 1957. Cooper had been Wimbledon champion,a 57 minute final!

    Ruud health restored.
    Four sets.
I don't care for Rune but he's some player. Pity it took him two sets to get going.

This is a wonderful first semi final

Sabalenka back to the old Sabalenka, after seemingly getting over her choking exploits with her win in Melbourne.

    Bonkers.

The long expected era of the Czech girls is maybe about to begin.

    Begin?!

    Where have you been?!

They've been at it since Martina.

Novotna,Tomanova,Hingis was Czech by all but a flag, Kvitova, Pliskova x 2, Nostrova, Muchova Vondrousova, Fruhvitova x 2,Krejcikova,Siniakova and countless other good doubles players.

Eleven times winners of the Fed Cup and now BJK Cup.

I read a paper a colleague wrote on their system about 20 years ago.

    Simple but excellent.

Not unlike what Italy does now.

Beautiful player to watch Muchova and a far better player than Sabalenka. Not as powerful but graceful and with excellent variety.

I hope she wins it, especially after her injuries.

We don’t all possess your level of expertise at tennis. I’m sure it’s not your intention, but you don’t need to patronise those of us with less knowledge and understanding of the sport, who do at least try to take part in the discussion on what seems to be mostly your thread.

I was referring to the current crop of players, not going back twenty years. None have yet won slams, so I commented on whether Sunday could be the start of that.

    Wish I’d not bothered.

Pleased that Kato has won the mixed.

    Very harsh her disqualification.

Apologies Malt,it wasn't my intention to patronize merely to praise the Czechs and their brilliant system.

Sometimes the nuance is lost in the written word.

Wasn't expecting a 20 year old to get cramp against a 36 year old. I suppose it's a higher level intensity match he's not been used to.

He's had a number of injuries in the last six months and even though he's filled out he's still technically growing.

I thought he would win,as did the bookies but looks like ND has timed his form perfectly.

Hundreds of thousands of Rafa and Roger fans and almost everyone I know who follow/play tennis will be feeling like Malts!

Never has a champion won so much but find themselves to be so disliked.

Brilliant athlete, competitor and by what Tennis Dave said, got his tactics spot on.
