PSG is probably the most artificial club out there, so yes it is disappointing. But remember: his whole career has has really had no domestic challenge beyond trying to beat Madrid. The pinnacle for him, outside of international football, has been the Champions League. Now he can try and win that again with zero domestic challenge. It seems odd to a traditionalist like me that there are players who don’t see their domestic competitions as the reason they get up in the morning, but that’s the way it’s gone for many who are happy to have regular ‘rests’ rather than play every game and see things like the FA Cup as an irritation.
You don't get a more comfortable gig than PSG. He didn't need to chase the biggest deal either. Would have respected him more if he went back to Boca Juniors
Can't ever be called the GOAT when he's never proven himself above being a flat track bully in a 2 team league, with the weight of the best players in the league behind him. Ronaldo did it in 4 leagues and internationally. Messi is probably more gifted but has had a cowards career where he's taken all the low hanging fruit, instead of proving himself against any sort of real challenge.
I'm not so sure that it is. No other club could afford him, even City. The guy wants to win the CL several more times and this wasn't happening at Barcelona, that's why he wanted to leave last season. PSG have basically built a Galactico squad and they really should be winning everything possible this season, **** they should win every game. The only question mark being around the coach. If he can do all that and get £100m+ for two years work before swanning off to the US, then who can blame him?

He has one goal left in him and that is to win in Qatar. It's great for him at PSG. He can take it easy most of the time while building up to peak fitness for that month. Would not mind him here for the rest of the season after that. We may even get promoted.....

I think Argentina stand a really good chance at the WC this year, most other years the defence and the midfield behind Argentina's terrifying attack has been way off but this year it looks a lot more balanced. It's not the easiest group but one I'd still expect them to win!
Otamendi is in top form, Romero becomes a monster and Licha is in there too. I would have liked to seen Facundo Medina coming in as well capable of playing on the left of a three allowing both fullbacks to become wingbacks which suits Molina and indeed Montiel and Acuna. Midfield I hope Enzo Fernandez becomes a starter. Precocious to say the least he's better than Lo Celso at the same age although Scaloni is likely to go with MacAllister initially. de Paul and Enzo in midfield are terriers. Upfront the same. Martinez, Alvarez and Angel Correa who replaces Nico Gonsalez are all incredibly hard working as well as highly skilled allowing Messi to saunter although in Scaloneta he does his fair share. di Maria and Dybala off the bench should be critical too. di Maria needs to remain fit. He was sorely missed in 2014 but was there in 2021. This team is a unit that works hard back to front, is highly motivated and cohesive and operates as a unit. Messi is often used now as a decoy and everyone does their fair share as opposed to other sides barring the 2006 side. This side may not be as individually talented as 2006 but it's just as resilient. I would have liked to seen Garnacho called up as a wild card instead of Almada to offer something late in games with sheer pace and trickery to win free kicks and penalties especially in these conditions. Almada is highly talented and perhaps I might have taken him over Papu Gomez. I'm sure he'll be over here in a season from the MLS. Speaking of which Argentina u17 have called up Maximo Carrizo. He's only fourteen and already unfortunately in UAE American feeder club NYC FC. The US called him up but he has Argentine parents and he rejected them stating he want's to play for Argentina. Hugely talented.
Meh. They utterly dominated the match, managed to get loads of shots off and conceded off 2 shots from locations they shouldn't have conceded from. If Martinez gets dropped for Musso I'd feel better!
That's the beauty of the WC! You can play well for one or two games but unless you triumph in the most important stat (the score) then it doesn't matter!

Glad he finally won it, a fitting trophy for the player he is. Even at 35 he was utterly dominant in most matches.
Excellent tournament from him. Hardly missed any penalties gifted to him by referees, and he even managed to talk himself and team mates out of yellows from referees that wanted to be his mate. Highlight was when he punched the ball away to stop an attack when his team was caught out of position, and he used his magic to get a punishing 'please don't do that again' look and no card from the ref. Classic Argentina move 10/10
Probably has that sweet innocent look to him too.. Will he retire from International football and maybe end his career in Argentina. Doesn't seem like the type who'd be a coach or pundit - probably be rubbish anyway.

Think he's already said he won't be retiring from international football just yet. As for his domestic career apparently Inter Miami will be his destination next year which will be awful. Imagine Messi getting coached by Phil ******* Neville ffs.
