The problem with this World Cup, apart from all the stuff surrounding the choice of venue, is that there has been no anticipation of it. Domestic football was still going on last weekend and it all starts a week later with the first England game on Monday. Normally you have about a month before the tournament starts, during which there is discussion about who should be in the squad, warmup games, the squad announcement, contemplation of who the strongest teams are etc. None of this has really happened this time, or at least it’s been squeezed into a few days.

Spot on, this feeds directly into my sense that the time of year is just wrong.

Now the Catarrhi Royal Family have got the heebie-jeebies about Budweiser stands at the stadium, and are asking that beer sales and advertising is stopped. Which is awkward for FIFA as the pissmerchants are one of the biggest sponsors and FIFA will be in breach of a multi multi million pound contract.

Nobody cares about the Nations League. They are glorified friendlies. As I would like to continue with an English manager I'm happy he's staying. In a couple of years maybe Potter might be ready
