Really? I genuinely thought he had a good game. Booked Wigan players early for time wasting after a direct warning to their captain went unheeded, added on 5 minutes in the first half which was fair after that nonsense at their corner with their injured player and generally didn’t buy any of the dives / attempts to buy a foul from either side. Not much he could do about players lying on the ground feigning injury given where the rules are currently.

JP should be having nightmares tonight about his early miss!

Also why take off Sema for Morris, what can Morris do that Sema can’t?

It’s not all bad news. Udinese are beating Milan and Bobby P scored. The Pozzo household will be a happy place tonight.

I doubt that, but I will say he at least does care about his football with us. Certainly had an off day today, and we know he will gone end of season to cover the financial gut punch for not going up first time of asking. I was excited when he first signed and over the past two/three seasons he really has matured and come of age. It will be a real shame when he does leave us I do genuinely feel he likes it here. I know he signed a contract extention but part of me feels he will go even if a modest amount is offered for him, as Gino will be scrambling to Fire sale all our assets as soon as the home game vs Stoke has ended.

There was a point in the 2nd half where around 3 of our players simultaneously rolled up off the floor in stages like I do aged 45 getting out of bed at 6am with a dodgy knee.

Overall I didn't think we played too badly other than WIGAN ARE BOTTOM, just failed to transfer anything into goals. Davis scored but missed 2 sitters. This sums both him up and our season overall.

    Pedro has now left.

We are mid table this season. Next season will be bottom 6 unless Manga brings in some excellent loans and free transfers.

    And we play them ..

    Is Ferreira still injured ?

Thought the ref did ok but no one really seems to actually get booked for time wasting until late on .

I cannot wait. Stone cold pies and burgers at Dartford, Coats down for goal posts at Ebbsfleet United and yesterday's left over hot dogs warmed up at Oxford City.

Unfortunately the first thing we will do will be give Cathcart a year extension. A man who has been central to 4 years of losing mentality. And most of our fans will applaud this move because he is “a model pro” or some such.

On the plus side I think even we are not dumb enough to keep Cleverly suckling on the club teat again while he contributes nothing.

Well, the report said that 'discussions regarding an extension of his deal are continuing', which is, in fairness, essentially exactly as insane/profligate/laughable.

Cathcart getting one more year is incredibly dumb. Surely there are a more bargain bin Porteuos type players out there cheaper and younger

Watford Ladies 2pm - 1 quid for season ticket holders. Playing for a chance to be promoted against table topping Oxford.

Well worth if anyone is nearby. Shame I'm working today as I'd take my daughters otherwise.

It's night and day. Watford Ladies playing some of the best football in years, mens side playing like yesterday. I wonder if we can put the ladies side out against Luton in two weeks? Might stand a chance of winning.

Up until Porteous I can't remember GP coughing up a couple of Mil for a "decent young HG player" - it's always bargain basement...!

Indeed. Players have a sell by date. Gino does not believe in these. His model is beyond fathoming. There are plenty of talented players about that can do the job and grow with the club. reids scouting thread has several. But no lets carry on with the same old dross. To be fair to Cathcart he has been a very model professional and served the club well but age has caught up with him and we need another couple of younger centrebacks to come in along with Porteous and Hoedt.

The only aspect of English football that is remotely palatable at present is the women's game.

Everything else is a rotting corpse.

We could still look for one more though, even if we kept Cathcart for one more year to be 4th choice, which would be fine if the case.

    Porteous only cost £500k.

    Hoedt was closer to £2mil.

Yet out of the two so far, Porteous seems the more accomplished CB. Some of Hoedt's passing was very wayward. But they are a massive upgrade on the tat we used to have,

Yes Porteous seems a good signing so far. The main reason for his having such a low fee will have been that he only had 6 months left on his deal though.

They just called it off. Waterlogged pitch. Shame but at least if its replayed quickly I should be able to get to it.

It's well worth it. Great set up.

It got increasingly frustrating how many times he was asked to play a pass out quickly to Sema which went out of play or go on a 30 yard forward run then come back to other way. Fair play he stuck at it as it's not his natural game.

That’s true at the moment, but I’m afraid I can see the women’s game heading in the same direction. It’s telling how the most successful clubs have become aligned with those in the men’s game. Those big clubs and the media have their claws in it now.

Yes. Since popularity increased, the big clubs have thrown money at women's teams.

United didn't have a team until 2018 and are now second in the top division.

Yes after a big fuss about them not having one I think and they jumped on the bandwagon.

Wasn’t it Doncaster Bells who had the first ever ladies team but over time they got marginalised out of the game as weren’t big enough ?
