Chelsea played with 3 central defenders v Villa. Man United played 4231 with a #10 and Man city play more of a false 9.

We are clearly setting up differently to last season (understandably) and it doesnt seem to be working. Finding the right system was key last season, I think it will also be the case this season as well.

Maybe when they said he was gonna save our season in 19/20 they meant 21/22.

Yep. His shout of "Away" for the first goal didn't help at all, it was as the cross was coming in and I'm sure it made Troost-Ekong and Ngakia go for a ball they didn't need to as it gave the impression a forward was attacking it. They both panic and miss the ball by a whisker and then Sierralta can't do anything about it as it's too late to react. One pace further forward and off the sanctity of his line and he takes that ball easily.

Add to that his weird moments of kicking the turf for Austria and running after the ball and nearly picking it up outside the area at the weekend, and he's becoming a major problem for us.

Heavy hearted as I don't think he's really good enough anymore but think we need Ben GoPro back in the goal.

    Positives from Saturday for me:

    1) I went to a football match for the first time in 18months
    2) Enjoyed chatting in the pub with mates I hadn't seen for even longer beforehand
    3) Got in easily when feared worse. My season ticket card working first time
    4) Had more leg room after the guy in front of me moved to next to his mates.
    5) ,,,,,,I'm sure I will have missed something but think that's about it

I can’t blame King at all, his best goal scoring delays are behind him. He has the job Troy ended up with up front as the person to feed off. The problem is he was so isolated from the other forwards when he had it and I was astounded when he was taken off and not Dennis. We were limited on options as Cucho, Dennis and Sarr are all wingers and not too known for their goal scoring. When King went off it was armchair time for their defenders and we were under constant pressure with wave after wave of their attacks. This forward line is much worse than the one we got relegated with.

I’m amazed you normally have problems with leg room. Are you the Jolly Green Giant? Which stand do you sit in?

Yeah you're right with Chelsea, but the difference between our formation and Utd and City's is really just splitting hairs - King seems to be kind of a false 9 for a start, plus if City still had Aguero or landed Kane then they'd be playing them up front instead. Utd didn't play a 4231 either - they had Matic sitting deep, the same as Etebo for us, then Fernandes the most advanced midfielder, not dissimilar to the role Kucka was playing for us getting on the edge of the opponents' box, and then Pogba and Sissoko both being more box-to-box; anyway, we both had 3 CMs, however you wish to classify them.

By the sounds of it, the subs bench. Bring your boots next home game - if our attack continues will may need you.

I'm not Green but am a sizeable 6' 4". Rookery. Knees go beyond the top of the seat in front.

Same seat since 1999. Guy in front has had the same seat also since then. Little fella, always sits leaning forward. We've tessellated well for more than 20 seasons now.

Alas not on Saturday, the "stranger" had the temerity to sit back in his own seat and, being a chunky bloke, spilling out a bit back beyond it. Did not tesselate well at all.

    Until he moved.

Probably cos the old Jolly Giant behind him couldn't help but nudge him a few times in the shoulders with his knees.

We all know how bad serrialta own goal was ,and bachman rooted to the goal line but more needed to be done to stop the cross and I'm afraid the man told to stop it didn't do it ,Dennis has so much pace ,really needs to put more effort in ,real embarrassing school boy stuff he stops the cross there's no own goal

If our system was to be similar to United's surely we'd need to play with Cucho or JP as a number 10?

How? They are both much more forwards than Fernandes - Fernandes is ultimately still a midfielder and has never been used as a striker. Also, on top of his creative output he still scores highly for pressures and tackles, i.e. he puts in much more of a solid defensive shift than either of those two would in that position. Kucka was often getting in to similar positions to Fernandes vs Wolves, in the hole and hanging around on the edge of the penalty box. The issue with him is simply that although his ball-winning has been alright so far, he's been absolutely crap with the ball. I'm sure that when we signed him we'd have been hoping he'd still be more of a goal threat than he has been so far, but he's not seemed as dangerous in attacking areas for us as he did for Parma. Again this isn't an issue with the formation/set-up/types of players - more that the players in the system just aren't good enough.

I have a similar issue, the bloke in front of me has a tendency to throw himself back into the seat meaning that the seat back goes into my shins. I wouldn't mind but I've sat there for nine years.
