I think there is a massive tendency for some of us to massively over estimate the ability of some of our better players because we’re looking at them through the prism of Watford players as a whole. More often than not when they’re matched up against other PL players they’re just fairly ordinary. JP shows some nice touches and skill sometimes, but where is the end product most of the time? I know he’s young, but he mainly just looks good because the rest of our players are just total shyte.

It's very different due to the release clause; if it wasn't there he'd be leaving for £130mil absolute minimum.

As is though any buying club may still need to pay £30mil+ in agents' fees.

It's really all about a combination of a player's basic skill level and fitness times their attitude and work rate.
Eg Doyley had a low skill level but was quick, gave 100pct and defended as if his life depended on it. Robbo was better as he had more basic ability but similar mould.
In my day a defender was usually a player that wasn't good enough to play further up the field, so their mindset was fixed and focused as a thug.
Defenders now want to feel they're real players and so it's a different mindset and we have a player like Femenia who is a great footballer but doesn't "think" like a defender....

So Roy seemingly confirmed in his post-match presser that Sarr didn't actually arrive back in the country until Friday, rather than the reported/expected Thursday return, and that he didn't take part in any training session before the match:

    upload_2022-2-14_12-46-27.png

I'm sorry, but that's absolutely ridiculous - they won five days prior to that. Mane, the hero of their win who played basically every minute of each game and far, far more than Sarr's cameos, returned to Liverpool on Wednesday. This is farcical - how have we allowed to this happen? Is there anything we can't mismanage entirely?

Maybe we were worried about another repeat of a Dennis-type scenario, where the player throws a strop at not being allowed to take part in everything going on etc.?

Theoretically possible, perhaps, but when the star player and tournament hero leaves two days earlier, can that really be justified?

I’m sure Sarr wouldn’t have given a **** had we wanted him back asap. Maybe we did and he totally ignored it. Hope he did. Would you rush back for Hodgson?

I see yet again we agree on what games we are pinning out hopes on, and if we manage to get our scoring MoJo back I still think we really can do it.

Yes our excellent home form will save our season. It's a good job we haven't got the worst home record in the league, conceded the most goals at home in the league and haven't picked up a point at home in 6 games.

    Thanks.
I write a load of rubbish usually, but l don't care if any one has criticism. It is what this site is for. Of course l upset some elite members, l enjoy that.
Right now, l have the boys of WD18 in my sights. Suddenly JC is jumping on the bandwagon of piling on the criticism of the Pozzo/Duxbury handling of this Premier league season.
Prior to last week, WD18 had their heads so far up the asses of Pozzo/Duxbury that they were almost one person.

Ultimately, most of us on this forum could see that Watford FC were totally unprepared for life in the Premier league.
Why could Pozzo or Duxbury not see this?
The squad is simply not good enough at this level. I get the feeling that Hodgson knows this already. He is resigned to our relegation.
The fans want to see a team go out on to the pitch with a chance to win. Today, we go out and just wonder when will the opposition score? You can feel it on the terraces.
Still, we will all remain fans, no matter how awful we are. We have had some terrible teams in the past and the core support remained

This season has been an embarrassment, but how many of you actually thought it would end up in any other way other than relegation?

Can see Roy blowing a gasket in his post-match press conference if we lose at home to Palace on the 23rd. His post-match talk after Brighton seemed to question our team ethos and mentality and separate himself from it. I'm expecting the sequel to this rant:

That could also explain the way Ranieri seemed to become ever more disconnected...if the players can neither implement the plan nor compensate by running around like lunatics stopping the other team playing, there's nowhere to turn, really.

Long shot but if the Watford fan who gave me advise on buying and selling a house is on here, thank you very much for the words helped me out a lot.

I know of an estate agent who regularly goes but isn't a Watford fan, he only goes in the posh bits though.

Last year we had a record number of wins at home.... Know what the answer is? Ban all our fans from the ground

The club already tried that with the new entry system.
