Great win for England. Coming back to defeat Australia for the first time in a World Cup at the 13th time of asking.

Having seen the popularity of basketball as a TV sport. You wonder if BBC or one of the other freeview channels would take a punt in sponsoring a European league for broadcast on say Saturday evenings?

Why don't men muscle in on netball as revenge for the way the girls are attempting to take over footy, cricket etc

Excellent wins to beat Australia and New Zealand back to back.

Trouble is can they beat Australia again,if they defeat Jamaica?

    Shame.

It was always going to be difficult to beat them twice in a tournament.

    It's zonal moog.

Only the centres can travel into most of the court, bar the shooting 'D'.

Can't travel with the ball unlike it's ( in my opinion) superior sport basketball. Lots of pivoting.

I dislike it for its unconscious way of teaching girls to throw with the elbow by the stomach and not at a right angle behind the torso. No girls therefore can serve but push up, rather than throwing the racket arm at the ball.

Good game however at that level.

    Not sure if serious.

But thanks @I Blame Bassett that's a good explanation. To me it was quite a weird watch as the players seem hamstrung by not being able to try too hard to stop each other or block, only trying a bit here and there, whilst the umpires are blowing their whistles endlessly. Also the game seems to be about making fewer errors than your opponent, rather than winning by overcoming with skill. This is my assessment from watching a couple of matches anyway.

Watched a bit of this. I wanted to do my bit and support our wimmin, and tried my best to enjoy it, but as a spectacle it was shyte. Not sure if they bottled it or what, but even to my amateur eye the aussies were miles better in every regard.

Agree with the assessment above that basketball is far superior.

Was never sure why girls were forced to play netball at school tbh.

Irritating though it is to be pulled up regarding punctuation on an internet forum, some posters get a kick from it, and I presume he meant your second "it's"....

Talking of basketball, I got some tickets to watch basketball at the 2012 Olympics. It was utter sh*t. Not the game itself, the sport. Table tennis was much more entertaining, as was volleyball.

Although you can admire the athleticism involved in basketball, I’ve always thought it’s one of those sports where you only need to watch the last couple of minutes of a game (and then only if the score is close) after the constant exchange of scoring. Also it’s played almost exclusively by very tall people, so not very relatable to most.

I think I'm right and you're wrong. It takes too long. Just 3 hours of glorified rounders. However I respect your right to be wrong.

Have you ever been to a game?

Also, it encourages stat-freaks like cricket.

Yes, one was enough. Same for American football.
I'm sure both are fine if you bring a good book to read and look up every 5 mins when crowd noise suggests something is actually happening :).
    Ice hockey was great though.

At least it's exciting, end to end, doesn't have a point/goal scored every 30 seconds, and doesn't go on for 3 hours.

As Keighley says, nowt wrong with Baseball. It's the least American of all their major sports due to the low scoring potential. Went to a game in NY and loved everything about it.

Baseball is my favourite of all the ‘American’ sports by far. It’s also a sport in which, unusually for Americans, tradition is respected. Many people say it’s too long and boring for them, which superficially is a fair comment, but once you put in the effort to get into it the nuances are fascinating. It’s much like cricket in that regard.

Mets. We'd arrived in NY that day, were jetlagged and it was chucking it down. Despite that I loved it so knew it was something I'd watch from then on.
One of the best films ever made is Moneyball.
