For some reason I'm much happier about them not qualifying that I really should be. It's a similar feeling to when a team I dislike goes out of the FA cup to someone crap. Someone like liverpool.

Obviously it's nothing like the elation I feel when those ****s up the road suffer defeat.

Just watching the Los Angeles derby on sky, and I see that LAFC are 2-0 up!

Fitz/Luke - what's been the reaction so far to the newest team in the MLS?

What a debut by Ibrahimovic! He's as arrogant as they come, but that was a decent volley.

Fitz - I know you hated Chivas. Have LAFC replaced them as your hated rivals, or will the rivalry take some time to build up do you think?

Right now, I’d say I respect their well crafted team of players Bob Bradley has put together, but don’t think much of an LA soccer fan who identifies with LAFC but couldn’t muster themselves for LA Galaxy. They haven’t even played a home game, so it’s hard to say I hate them. I’m sure that will come.

Zlatan is perfect for the Galaxy. His arrogance suits the team’s heel wrestl persona to a T.

Wouldn't a lot of fans of Chivas have gone over to LAFC?

I see your point about not having a great deal of time for fans that have have only started supporting LAFC whilst never having any interest in the Galaxy. However, I imagine that a fair percentage of LAFC fans are those who have recently become interested in football as a whole as a result of LAFC's marketing around the city, and attempts to drum up support for the club and interest in the sport as a whole.

Out of interest, has there been much marketing around the city from LAFC?

Current LAFC fans are mostly die hard Chivas USA fans with no team left to support. The exact same supporters groups didn’t even bother changing their names to become LAFC supporters groups. I don’t think it’s possible to be open to soccer, live in LA and then suddenly discover the sport when LAFC poofed into existence. There is a ton of soccer here. Mexico regularly play international friendlies here, the Rose Bowl hosted dozens of huge international matches over the years. You’d have to be a real piece of work to have your eyes open now just because LAFC speaks to your hipster soul. I’m not saying there aren’t a few of these tools in the drawer, but mainly LAFC fans are Chivas USA fans.
