Morocco's game against Guinea postponed because of an apparent coup in Guinea

Have to feel a bit sorry for him, another important transfer window, another Pussetto-type deal where the Pozzos are prioritising giving favours to others over helping the team

More evidence that this guy is complete w***.

But don’t worry about it, because Leventhal is sure that he’s been impressing everyone in training.

I have to disagree. Sure, he's not pulling up tress, and doesn't look like we've spent the money wisely just yet, but I'm seeing gradual improvements in him. He doesn't shirk a challenge and does have a bit of quality. I think he's a work in progress and we're going to have to be a little patient with him before writing him off completely.

This is the problem though. Your marquee signing of the summer can't be someone who you hope can improve little by little and might be able to contribute something at some point. We've not strengthened elsewhere because we've spent all the available money on him, he should be able to hit the ground running.

If we go down, he'll just swan off on loan to Udinese and have a rather nice time there in a much more pedestrian league that he's better suited to.

Problem is, he's what, 6th/7th choice CM at the moment? It was pretty clear that he was picked at Brighton because Xisco had no other option, and he was hauled off basically at the first opportunity. He might genuinely be slowly getting there, but with no more cup games until January (and with him going off to AFCON most likely), when is the next chance he'll get to stake his place in the side?

I think he'll be drip fed in. A few minutes here and there. I do think he's a long way off from being a starter, but he's a different profile to any midfielder we currently have. Sissoko, Tufan and Kucka are all solid units. Etebo is also a worker bee. Gosling shouldn't really be at the club now, so I'm not going to even include him as a serious option. Cleverley is a great club man who can have the occasional great game if used against the right type of opponent (Norwich). Louza gives us someone who can thread a ball between the lines, who will go looking for it but will also get stuck in.

But for us to use him, we pretty much have to change the way we play. He's not good enough to warrant that right now, so where or how does he fit? Not sure he does, unless he gets really good so we're forced to play him and change our system.

Not even sure he'll be drip fed in as he's had 45 mins in the league when Kucka, Sissoko, Tufan and Gosling were unavailable. For me I'm not sure Louza offers anything Tufan doesn't, but Tufan certainly seems a lot more up to it physically

Fair enough, though being a client of Mogi Bayat only seems to be a box for Watford, Udinese and Nice.

The price tag isn't Louza's fault. He's still only 22 and some players take longer to settle into English football, surely Watford fans should know that by now? All we can hope for is that he improves every time he plays and it sounds like last night was better than his showing against Palace. We've got plenty of midfielders, just chill out and give the guy some time.

Wasn't too long ago that Doucoure and Sierralta were derided as terrible signings.

Sometimes it takes time for players to find their feet. Writing them off after a few games in a new country is beyond silly.

Well, if he follows the Sierralta/Doucoure path then we can expect him to get a shot over the festive season due to an injury crisis and then immediately establish himself as one of the first names on the team sheet and play every game until the end of the season...

Doucoure seemed decent in his early cameos and many were confused that he wasn't given more chances sooner.

People were unsure about Sierralta based on one cup game where he was played out of position, but even from that he remained an unknown quantity as he was out of position and not involved too much - I don't recall many or even any posters going as far as to call him "terrible" in the same way those who have seen Louza have done.

As soon as Sierralta made his first appearance in the league in his correct position his quality and potential suddenly became apparent.

Your memory is faulty, then. There were people were calling Sierralta **** before he even played a single game for us, and he was a "pointless signing" well after the season started.

Jesus it isn’t rocket science. Nobody has a problem with Louza. He may develop into a good player.

People have a problem that Pozzo used the entire transfer budget on a 6th choice development prospect to grease the palms of his agent mate while we continue to start the dreadful Cathcart week in week out.

Pozzo is more interested in investing in his network than the needs of our squad. Louza will end up at Udinese next year on a freebie loan.

Yea a lot of fans we're calling him that after that cup game too. I very much doubt Louza will turn out to be a poor player, he's just not what we should've spent so much of our money on this season.

They were calling him pointless after he'd played out of position in the cup.

Also, supposedly calling Sierralta crap before he'd even played for us (i.e. probably guessing) is a very different thing from those who have used their eyes to watch Louza actually play for us to figure out that he's actually crap.
