One of the most mistreated and disrespected players at this club in recent memory.

Rocks up a young, unknown in the Championship and proves comfortably our best centre back - one of the best in the league - then the following season gets bizarrely disregarded in favour of ageing crap that couldn't get ahead of him in a lower division, as we get relegated once again, with that ageing crap proving an absolute clown show week in, week out. If I were him I'd have been having a good laugh at the situation we ended up in last season, and he'll truly be having the last laugh if he gets a move to Brighton now.

Crazy there's people that would be actually happy to see him leave now we're back in the Championship as well, considering how good he was last time and how young he still is. You realise the alternative is almost certainly another season of the utter garbage that is Cathcart, Troost and Kabasele, right?

Iturbe will be a teammate of Andre Gray next season interestingly enough.

Fell out with the club surely but they don't want to say as he is still here.

Huh. I do find it an odd one. I like Sierralta and obviously he has more upside than the other dross but he appears a limited player (though definitely is aware of his limitations to be fair).

Would they be giving us a decent fee? Brighton have some cracking young players so wouldn’t mind a player (loan or perm) coming the other way.

Why do you have such a dislike of him? He's a young player who was excellent last time we were in the Championship.

A very strange player to be so against. There's plenty who do deserve it, he's not one.

Potter is pretty shrewd when signing defenders. Maybe they've already seen that Pollock can take his position.

Should be the first centre back on the team sheet here. If we let him go for a back three of Troost, Cathcart and Kabasele I truly give up on this club.

He’s not that good though. He’s just alright. If we can get in a better CB I’d more than happily let him go

How is he not that good at this level, though? He was clearly very, very good when we were down here in 20/21 and is still young enough to continue to improve further.

We're not going to sign anyone better. If he goes it'll almost certainly be a back three of Cathcart, Kabasele and Troost, with Pollock as back up alongside some other utter dross we'll likely sign on a free.

I don't get the negativity towards him at all, both from the club and some of our fans.

What are you basing this off?

In our promotion season he looked arguably the best CB in the division along with Guehi. And while Guehi had a strong subsequent season with Palace resulting in an England call-up Sierralta was bizarrely sidelined.

He was good in our promotion season but he was not on par with Guehi. Guehi is a really good all round CB who is very good with the ball and very pacy. Sierralta is a committed defender who is outstanding in the air but poor in possession and is slow.

He's not slow. In fact I specifically remember seeing a stat about his pace showing that he'd hit a top speed that was up there with either the best in the division or the best in our squad. Can't remember which, but either way he's not "slow". Faster than Cathcart, Troost and Pollock who is meant to be a complete snail.

The whole quality on the ball thing seems massively overplayed to me, too. He's easily passable. Just needs to keep it simple. In the promotion season it was Troost constantly giving the ball away and putting us under the cosh, not Sierralta.

Im basing it on my eyes and the data available to me to backup what I see. He’s just fine. I’d rather keep him than the others, but would I be bothered if he left? Not really

My worry with him is the style of play. If Rob thinks he’s the man for the central position then happy days. I’m with you on we should keep him ahead of the others — I just don’t like this squad and bar a few, I’d happily get rid

Yeah, not every CB has to be a Pirlo on the ball.

Sierralta was actually good at basic defending, which is still their main job.

Guehi may have been a bit better on the ball than Sierralta but he also seemed a bit more liable to the odd brain fart that season.

There are plenty of players ahead of Sierralta that I would hope to get rid of, I just don't think he's very good at football. Decent for half a season in the Championship but the fact that he had to pass it to Troost-Ekong so we could play out tells you everything about his ability. He clearly couldn't make the step up to PL level either, 3 managers worked with him and we had a terrible defence yet he still couldn't force his way into the team.

He's basically a big fella who can head and block things, it's a good trait to have as a defender but he's very limited and really nothing special.

I would keep him as he’s an old style centre back. Strong and good in the air but woeful on the ground. Championship is full of them. His level without question in my view

I think Sierralta is really good, but I do find it funny how the same people who constantly slag off WTE love him. WTE was just as good as him in the championship, but doesn’t seem to fit some people’s agenda's…

Personally think Sierallta is a better player, it’s just funny how some people perceive things.

You can balance a defender like him with someone who is more comfortable on the ball and with a little more pace. Happens all the time and generally works out. Works for Argentina having watched them regularly. Romero does the speed work or Licha and reading the game. Otamendi just gets the ball and passes it to someone more capable usually de Paul as he drops into the back four or out to Molina or Acuna.

Sierralta should be first on the team sheet in defence. When an earth are we going to go with a younger team ? We need hungry players. We have failed to overhaul the side since the Cup final was reached.

When I heard Bachmann was linked to United I was keen for us to sell as £4m is a decent whack for someone like him, not so keen on Sierralta being shunted off to Serie B for pennies. He may be limited, and I definitely think his (half) season in the Championship flattered him, but he's certainly got something about him, and there are plenty of defenders I'd shift before him
