I'd like to run another Werewolf game - it would be my first time but in for a penny and all that, so I'd like to run an anonymous game with plenty of roles. That said, was it @nornironhorn who ran the anonymous game last time? If so, how did you go about getting everyone a new login? Was it just creating new names and passwords but all under the same email? I also appreciate we have played 2 games recently and people may not be keen - so I will add a poll to garner interest....but I can (hopefully) guarantee a fun, different game and may add some new roles. My thought would be to run it from the Monday before Christmas - with potentially a break for the obviously busy Xmas days (24th thru 27th) - but I am also adaptable to starting mid-week next week or even doing it the week after Christmas. I recognise a couple of people have said they wouldn't play but would be nice to have one more chaotic game for 2022 no? With anonymous profiles?! Burnsy
I'd actually prefer it over the days off - something to do rather than juggling through a work day. Although appreciate would be time consuming for you when you might want to see family etc. I have missed a load of recent games and only played in the last so have some appetite to play if enough others do.
I would of thought either creating a new account (cannot use the same email as it will probably flag it) with different usernames and Avatar pictures. Another way to do it would be to just change the usernames/title/avatar of the players and reset the post count count to zero to completely hide who they are. Although that is a lot of work for a short amount of time (Post count numbers can be saved externally by a mod then added back to the player when he/she leaves the game). It sounds like a fun way of doing it, I would guess the only logical way to figure out who is who would be via posting style, so it would mean a lot more detective work.
If I remember correctly it was far less complicated. There were about 20 anonymous accounts created by admin which probably still exist. The person who ran the game were given these account names and passwords and assigned each player to a random anonymous account and emailed them the username and password to that account. Then the roles were just assigned as usual to the anonymous accounts.
So I created a number of anonymous accounts (all named after cities - I think I was watching Money Heist at the time). It was quite a manual process, I used a fake email generator to enable me to create them and then gave them all different passwords. The document I created with all the different passwords is possibly still on an old laptop of mine so I can have a look for it. Potentially the accounts will be recoverable (assuming people didn't change the passwords themselves).
That was my user so I have the password for Denver. Anyone who played that game would likely still have password details in their inbox.
I was Berlin but I must've changed the password as the one allocated doesn't work. If I do forgot password then not sure who will get the reset email?! Edit: in fact I don't think I'd have changed the password. Was there another global ww game after the one I was in and the password was changed maybe.
Log ins should be in players PMs, if they weren't changed back. The mod of the last anonymous game probably has all of the details in one place. Who was that? Was it me?
Did we have any more anonymous games beyond the one I ran? I can't remember. For my game, I used an anonymous account - The Globe - to send out the details. So I'd need to find the login details for that account to get all the messages I sent!
I did a second game in June 2020. I think I sent log in details from my own account, but re-used the anonymous accounts.
Ah, I know why I forgot about the second game. For the second game I created a new sub-forum that only Mike & the country accounts could access. This was to make sure that people didn't actually comment/vote with their real accounts (which happened a few times in the first game that I ran).
