Oppo Forum: https://www.pne-online.net/forum/index.php Five points from three games is a decent start for any new head coach, but in the case of Watford it's deemed an excellent start. Despite being in a position in all three games to take maximum points, it's understandable that fatigue and mistake creep into our games especially with the thinness of our reserves. Still, taking a point from Leeds and WBA is impressive considering the state of the performances under VI. You could argue we really should of won at West Brom had Martins not had the movement speed of a sloth, but when a team get back into a game it was obvious they were going to come at us. So after a few days of recoup it's back to the Vic for a clash against an inconsistent PNE side who still have an outside chance of making those final playoff spots. Preston had a very poor performance and result last time out losing 1-0 at Birmingham, a game the surely marked as a must win considering Brum's form and league placement. But as we well know, there are no easy games in this division. Due to how poor and out-of-sorts our campaign has been, it really doesn't seem that long ago that we went to Deepdale and scored five goals in a thumping win. Or as I recall it, the Kayembe show. He was brilliant that game - as he was against WBA to be fair. Here's a reminder of our five-star show. This will doubt be a different game. PNE still have something to play for, and a defeat to us would almost certainly end any lingering hopes of a playoff charge. Cleverley would love a home win, and to be honest so would we. No home win in the league since beating Norwich 3-2... yes, that far back. Amazing. Decent Start: Tom Cleverley has five points from his first three games in charge So what sort of line up can we expect? I would probably say same line up vs West Brom. TDB was excellent, as was Dennis and Kayembe. I would probably drop Kone' for Asprilla, and Andrews again struggled, which is becoming a theme with his performances. Morris is a pretty good stand in then Andrews could come on as a substitute later on perhaps. Our biggest weakness though, seems to be lasting 90mins. As stated before it's more down to fatigue as we are starting games at a much higher tempo, which is not a bad thing. However it's looking like we need to score three goals to win a game. Ok, maybe that is a little OTT, but a 1-0 lead is always a dangerous score line for any team especially us. I would hate to see us go ahead then park the bus, especially in a winnable game such as this one, but I hope TC has managed to drill home the importance of being switched on till the final whistle. Skyla Predicts: Watford 2 Preston 1
I just hope the club keep the 'Our Tom' branding fresh and keep innovating to keep us interested. I propose we have an 'Arrrr Tom' pirate theme on Saturday.
We have done unexpectedly well against good teams. Now we expect to beat a shyt team. There's absolutely no doubt whatsoever that Preston win.
Some other ideas: Are tomatoes in season yet? Artem Chigvintsev, in honour of the former strictly pro.
I had assumed you'd touched a nerve as Keighley now considers himself to be one of the local west country yokels. Though he still doesn't truly appreciate a genuine west country Ginsters pasty.
Alternatively, only the best quality product is considered edible by the rest of the country that doesn't feel a need to grit it's teeth and eat an inferior niche product because it was made round the corner and they're related to the baker !!
On the subject of Ginsters, how do we feel about Rustlers Burgers? One of the builders working on our house gets through two a day, every day.
My wife is Cornish and she says that Ginsters Pasties are considered to be an abomination by most Cornish folk!!!
Watch out for a load of Lancashire folk in suits and bowler hats . Our stewards will probably tell then to take the hats off as they are dangerous or something . https://www.pnefc.net/news/2024/april/freddie-buying-into-amazing-gentry-day-tradition/
Used to eat them occasionally for lunch as a young teen, but fucck me, you couldn't pay me1 to swallow one now. 1. (less than £100)
The rustlers diet is probably just his way of providing it with thorough quality control testing once complete - "Well, if it can cope with this.....".
They are the absolute definition of bargain basement burgers. Cheap packaging, cheese that breaks as soon as you look at it, and tbf a car tyre would taste less rubbery than they do. I know they are just processed and shoved in a plastic box but the Co-op where I used to live were selling them for £2.50 at one point. Daylight robbery at it's finest. They do other variants as well, including chicken burgers and breakfast egg mcMuffins, which to be fair to them do taste better than the McDonalds ones.
Does he bring his own microwave? Probably a YTS kid that looks about 50 after eating that dirt twice a day.
Favourites at home ? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/24233434.watford-start-favourites-first-time-cleverley/ Jinxed that then ! Speaking of goal scorers Danny Graham is there tomorrow. https://twitter.com/WatfordFC/status/1776219954041278718
Let's just hope the players' aren't aware of this before the kick off. That sort of encouragement never plays well for us...
Can't believe that this isn't on NBC It has goal written all over it Now we are safe and heading for mid table obscurity, i expect some of the fringe crap players to be given more time to get them in the window. Therefore expect Bachmann, Sierralta, Bayo, Ince to get time and there is no use getting our players injured, so lets get the crap kicked out of Martins and Lewis while we can.
I don't see the point in giving Ince any more minutes. If anything playing him more to "put him in the shop window" will just reiterate to any potential buyers that he's gone to crap. Worst case we just find a way to rip up his contract in the summer as he just has to go. Would make much more sense to give minutes to a few academy players like Massiah-Edwards, Grieves or Nabizada.
