Yes - shame we cannot avoid defeat every week. Frustrating. Must admit hoped we'd put up a better show than this as we did in the 2 previous games v Southampton though.
Suspect we may never see Bachmann in a Watford shirt again I'm sure some excuse about an injury will be cobbled together but the commentators on 3CR were very clearly shocked at what he did
The club have already tweeted we put it through as a concussion sub, hence being able to bring on Ince as a 6th. The cover up has begun early!
What a performance! What a game! Three quality goals in the wind and rain! Oh hold on we played in white? Crap performance although we did well to keep it to 3-0 as once the first went in we gave up. Game aside, Bachmann walking off the pitch Kiko-style was very strange. Reports were that he was pointing to the side of his head, so maybe hit was struck at some point? He seemed fine before they scored their second goal though. VI was a real man tonight in that crap weather not even wearing a hood. Sema came through unscathed thankfully. Porteous was rather good first half but resorted back to his old self second half, also very lucky not to get a red card which looked like a seriously bad challenge. Ince coming on for one minute was laughable, players just didn't fancy it and Southampton were in first gear all night long. Kone' came closest to a goal by striking the bar and Raj was offside more than on. It was a needless fixture and I do not think many will be crying themselves to sleep tonight over it, but Gino might as the prize money was a fair bit together with the televised streams of the fifth round. Kayemebe is back in training now and you would think after Leicester we should have our best team back. Our form is worrying though, no win in five games now, and in typical Watford style, the year turns and we turn to mulch on the pitch. VI is not in danger, but we need to get over this dip in form for confidence levels as least. Shout box was excellent tonight, most entertaining part of the evening. On to Saturday where Leicester will no doubt give us a reminder of how we are nowhere near ready for Premier League football.
I won't castigate Bachmann, nobody suspected anything of Karius in the Champions League final, and Bachmann has also had a concussion (a fairly bad one too from what we heard) this season. I want us to win every game, and I hate losing, but this is up there with Leicester at home when we were comfortable and they were gunning for the title in terms of not-botheredness
I suppose the nature of the performance and lack of really effort to get back into the match will worry people but then the players are all "tired"
Having just got back to my car to begin the journey home I can only say "Good f*****g riddance". But NOBODY comes out of that with any credit. The minimum I expect is the players put a shift in. Not remotely near it tonight.
Considering we have no depth at the moment, and we've played near enough a first choice XI in all 4 cup games we've played this season, I think it's a valid excuse! Not going to slag off any of the players, there's one guy the fingers need to be pointed at
Yes, things have taken a worrying downward turn. If this team stops trying we’re in free fall. This is why I’m always mindful of the bottom 3. We could sleepwalk into a relegation fight and no one will be prepared for it.
No idea why I went to that tonight, trying to not get carried away but the one thing this team had, despite its limitations, was heart. Today, they showed none. No desire, no effort, no intent. Certainly weren’t playing for the manager and back to in-fighting and finger pointing. Sierrelta with one of his worst performances in a Watford shirt but ultimately not his fault, he’s not a midfielder. Please stop. Dele-Bashiru continues to be a nothing footballer. Please leave. Holes at the back, holes in midfield and completely impotent going forward. Bayovic is getting tiring. I still have faith in Val, he’s been dealt a horrible hand but he’s starting to make some strange calls. Game was done by the second goal, if you’re going to take Kone off for Ince, do it earlier. What does either play have to gain getting five minutes of rest and five minutes of game time? Just bizarre. Give the kid some minutes, we have literally nothing to lose. Leaving Dennis at home to get fit was probably the right thing to do but I think it sent the wrong message today and that was reflected in the performance. And I’m soaked.
TBD at right back, Sierralta in midfield. The game was lost before it even began. Neither of these options work and I thought it would have been obvious to Val by now?
The second goal tonight, lewis runs along side the guy doesn't lay a glove on him,he role's it to his team mate who bangs in the goal, lewis is gutless get our of my club
Dear oh dear Ryan Porteous. His anticipation and decision making would look bad in non-league. If you want to see the horror show, the highlights are on YouTube.
More done to rest Andrews and Livermore but might as well give a young player his chance? Even Derek Payne said he is a liability and even suggested he goes out to injury players!
Decent result, could have been worse, we'd only lose to Liverpool anyway, it's the FA'S fault for having replays.
