To be clear, I have no issue with Andrew’s approach, and appreciate his work on the Wob. I don’t think I would look forward to a curry with a guy who offered so little the last time I sat down with him.

Incredible to think in mid-October we had Manga, Costa, Tonello, Giaretta as our recruitment team. Along with 8 scouts, all have gone by December 11th.

What a massive churn. No idea how this impacts our January plans, but I don’t think we’re expected to do too much in fairness.

I do not know enough about the workings of the club to be certain as to what the impact will be, but my gut feeling is that I think it will be a positive, but maybe not in the very short term until Nani gets to grips with the role again. Plans for the upcoming window are likely to be affected.

Hopefully we get back to the glory days of Ibarbo, Diamante and Jurado!

    Good riddance.

If, just for once we aren’t going to get rid of several managers during a season, we wouldn’t be Pozzo Watford if we didn’t see loads of comings and goings elsewhere in the set-up.

@NathWFC All three of the players you listed were signed after Nani had left.

Oh yes! We thought we was gone when Edwards was appointed but back he came on a three year deal. Makes you wonder if Gino is now going to shell out for the rest of his contract in termination, or perhaps he had a clause. Nani coming home is another great move.

Has Nani been unemployed for the last 4 years? If so we are presumably getting him on the cheap, which has to be good news

Just like nearly all the Head Coaches we recruit!

@SkylaRose I doubt it as it was his decision to leave us to take up a new job wasn’t it? Wouldn’t think we owe him anything.

Ah yes, but I have it on good authority that Nani had already committed us to all 3 signings before he left.

Has spent the last five years working part time for the Italian FA running a yearly seminar on how to be a sporting director it seems...

While Giaretta may not have been a popular figure, I can't see there's too much to cheer about with the return of 61 year-old Nani, whose last role was only a 3 month stint at Reading 5 years ago. It hardly suggests he'll be particularly attuned to things now.

Maybe his job won't be that important, but it does make one wonder if we should have held on to Manga a tad longer? Or did the club already know when Manga was on his way out that Giaretta would also be leaving?

Could Nani only be intended as an emergency stop-gap appointment?

Haha you could be right re Diamanti as he would have been with Nani at West Ham I think? Jurado we can blame squarely on QSF. And tbh I can’t eveb recall Iturbe!

I'd have Abdi and Vydra back in a heartbeat, even if the former is long retired.

    Get in.

Aren't all our senior appointments (other than Duxbury) "emergency stop-gap appointments" ?!

Clearly taught the folk at Udinese well about the art of valuing Ivorian left-backs...

I was briefly on Instagram a few years back and followed a few Watford related accounts, including Giaretta. He seemed to mainly post videos of squirrels in his back garden with captions like 'Hello again, my little friend' set to 70s/80s pop songs. Make of that what you will.

It's fair to say his time at the club was not an overall success and I doubt there will be many tears shed by fans at his departure. However, I wish him well and hold no ill feeling towards him. I can only assume he wanted the club to succeed and unfortunately, looking from the outside, simply wasn't able to deliver the progress we sought after.

Stand by for Ismael's shock sacking and a surprise new three year contract for the currently holidaying Giaretta.

I thought Iturbe was one we were gazumped for by Muff or someone, but claimed we turned him down because Quique met him in a Costa Coffee and didn't like how he ordered an espresso

Has Manga actually left the club? I thought he was told he was free to find new employment. Could this be a way back in?

Interesting that again Ismael is the club spokesman on the press release for this story rather than Duxbury or whoever.
