I think our last truly decent January window signing was Deulofeu on loan. That lad was magic.

He doesn't hold it up in the same way as Davis/latter day Troy i.e. being a static lump but he does help relieve pressure in other ways like actually running around. The chest control on the move and run down the line to buy a foul late on against Norwich was brilliant and just what we needed.

I suspect just having his pace up there helped to cause a bit of a nuisance.

Speaking of strikers presume Healey will be sticking around despite hardly playing.

Hmm, or maybe he will, unless it's a disciplinary issue or he still has complications from his concussion. But it's surely a case of when, rather than if, Hamer makes a screw up which gets him dropped.

Think when it comes down to it rotating one unexceptional goalkeeper for another every time one or the other makes a boob probably isn’t go to help much. Hopefully Val will give Hamer a run in the team and then (hopefully) make an assessment of which keeper the rest of the team, and especially the defence, are most comfortable having behind them. If that’s Bachmann so be it - but I’ve got my doubts.

I really think they are very important as well, probably more so than a target man and a gk. Not specifically Bolivian but teenage prospects generally. It would be naiive for us to solely focus on the immediate needs of the first team and South America young players has been a massive success for us. We need an approach that balances improving the first team with investing in the future.

I agree however at this moment in time a GK and target man are the players we desperately need in order to kick on next January .

Trying to get some income from the sale of Louza and re-investing it wisely in the team would seem to be the best policy.

I'm not sure we will have sufficient funds for a first team target man than is significantly better than what we have, so I reckon we might as well stick with what we have.

We obviously need to keep as much of this side injury free as possible, but we do need additions. I think Hamer may of ousted Bachmann to #2, but as we also have Roberts, and Bachmann signed a massive five year contract he isn't going anywhere. Defence still needs an upgrade especially if Ngakia could be a possible outgoing in January. We need a right back.
Defensive midfield seems fine at the moment with Livermore/Serrialta but again Livermore isn't a spring chicken and will eventually need an upgrade, possibly in the Summer.

on the strikers, Bayo and Raj seem more than capable with Healy as backup, but I do think we need another striker just have more to select from.

He's an 18-year-old who's played 107 senior minutes in his life, and despite the good vibes and fun goal, wasn't even particularly exceptional in any of them. Meanwhile, we have a senior striker who has scored for fun at a similar-ish level in France who can't even get on the pitch. I can't really see what role Adeyemo would be fulfilling for us at this moment in time.

There isn't one if they're not good enough to be there in that moment. It's a bit of a strange complaint when we have one starting in the team for the first time in donkey's years, anyway.

We need a defensive midfielder and a backup CB in that order.

And then another full back perhaps.

In terms of most important to least important:
A DM to compete with Livermore (or fill in for him if he's injured) is essential, as good as he's been, you simply can't expect a 33 year old to keep going at the same level as he has been without fading or getting injured, as we saw at the weekend. Right-back at the moment has to be a priority, we have one player there, and he's a kid who's never played a hectic Xmas schedule.
A first choice goalie would be nice, Bachmann and Hamer aren't bad, but realistically I think they're more backup level for a top half team in this division, and another centre-back (even better if left-footed) would be good too, being hyper-critical, even if Sierralta doesn't play in midfield anymore, Pollock hasn't always convinced and would probably benefit from another loan instead of sitting on the bench every week

And Pollock seems a nice lad but not shown he has what is needed at this level.

He's played 169 minutes of Championship football. Yes, he had a horror debut at Millwall but the whole team were abject and since then he's had a very successful loan at Aberdeen. He may well not be good enough and is understandably 4th choice but not sure any of us can judge him properly. Has looked pretty solid coming on to help us see out games recently.

He's on the way back from a long term injury. if he is 'fit' in January I would expect him to go out on loan to get match fit.
