No different. Sarr looked like he wanted to get out of here for a while despite him being a very talented player. You take Sarr out of any side we had in the past five seasons it's a side that is close to what we have now. We may of gotten a younger side, but it's turning into a side with no direction or spine. Tonight was rock bottom performance wise, our away form is rubbish but we didn't even try which is something past teams at least did at times. Sarr was a good player we know he had some brilliant games for us but even if he was in this current side he would not turn us into world beaters.

He set the bar for the level of effort you have to put in to get sold from this club

Some are just following suit hoping to get out of this car crash. The others are just at their **** level

Good players win matches, especially in the Championship. In 20-21 Sarr got us promoted almost single-handedly. Last season Pedro and Sarr kept us in playoff contention until Wilder came about. Of course we're not better without players like that, even when their head is not in the right place. The challenge now is to create a team that is better than the sum of its parts, which doesn't just magically happen by getting rid of a good player.

What we haven’t replaced is pace they had.

    In theory at least.

How much Sarr actually used is a different matter.

You could say Martins and Asprilla could contribute like he should have been able to on a good day but they are young and don’t always get the chance .

A £32m player should’ve absolutely destroyed the league, he played at about 50% of his ability most games, sometimes lower.

We should’ve got a lot more from him and expected more from him, but he was capable of more at 50% effort than any of our current squad, that’s not a positive reflection on Sarr, that’s a damning indictment of our owner and the staff he’s put in place around him.

We’re skint, he was one of our main saleable assets and he didn’t want to be here, so inevitably had to be sold whatever your opinion of him, good or bad.

    It’s not a difficult concept.

Sarr and Joao Pedro together on the pitch now for Marseilles and Brighton, both no doubt deeply regretting their decision to leave Watford.

…and feeling guilty about just how much they had held us back, given the way we have progressed since they left.

We've just replaced Sarr with Ince. Capable of much more but at the moment doesn't look interested in taking anyone on and passes the ball backwards more often than not. Purely going through the motions, just like Sarr last season.

When Ince came on for 20 minutes against Blackburn, I thought he looked quite accomplished, i.e. knew what he was doing, and would be a good addition. Since then, however, that promise seems to have dissipated just as it has for the rest of the team.

We got a very good deal for Pedro and sold him at the right time. He was eager to move on and looks like he is really enjoying his football at Brighton. In the same vain as Ashley Young when we sold him to Villa for £7M I was sad to see him go but understood why and wished him all the best going forward. Sarr I don't really have those feelings over it. He was an incredible talent but equally incredibly frustrating to watch most games. He could of put the extra percentage in but just either didn't want to or didn't care if he did or not. We've gone round and round in circles on whether he was a bad signing at the wrong time. and he was. But the past is the past and he's moved on now in his career. However while he may progress, we continue to regress.

Sarr wasnt going to sign a new contract and we had to get rid to make some money back. I dont see him as any better or worse than Martins to be honest.

If you're giving me a choice between Watford Sarr and Watford Martins I'm choosing Martins every time. There's lots of things I miss about When We Were Good, Sarr is not one.

It's been said so often that it's pretty much become a fact used to partially justify the stinking mess which Sarr's singing and tenure at Watford, pretty much was.

Watching Pedro score 4/4 penalties for Brighton makes me wonder why we had Sarr on them for so long.

Both seem to be settling in well at their new clubs!

Pedro is just going to be great. He needs to consistently add goals and assists but the few times I've seen him for Brighton so far he looks very much at home in the PL.

It is certainly more enjoyable watching without him.
His high points were great, but most games watching him get no where near his high points was frustrating to say the least.

I also heard Sarr’s singing was pretty awful . On the other hand I’ve heard Cathcart could more than hold a tune ( and dance )

We'd 100% be a better team with Sarr, he contributed to around 1/3 of our goals last season but it doesn't really matter as he had to be sold. Glad he's had a decent start with Marseille, clearly a talented player that deserved better than rotting away in the Championship with our circus of a club.

As others have said, Martins is a very good player and with a decent squad, manager and club around him, I can't see why he couldn't match Sarr's goals/assists (won't happen here anytime soon). Hopefully for the sake of his career, he can find a good move away if he continues to have a good season.

Do those xG stats include pens?

Also, JP still seems prone to missing decent chances from open play and lacking a clinical streak - only 1 goal from open play and he's been rather reliant on pens for padding his goal stats so far.

Non pen xG - but obviously very small sample sizes so far! 1.54 non pen xG in 4.1 x 90s (although 0.63 xG of that was from his miss against Luton)

That was his the one open play goal - in 523 minutes of football so far - when they were already 2-0 up and cruising against a Man Utd side who everyone seems to score worldies against right now.

That I'm not sure he's massively transformed relative to the player he was for us, and that although the xG stats on reids chart looks impressive I'm pretty sure he's underperforming his xG significantly with actual goals scored (as I also think he did for us).

i.e. it doesn't seem yet as if moving to Brighton has suddenly turned him in to a goal machine.

Just saw that Joao Pedro blazed another very good chance over the bar vs Liverpool on Sunday.
