On the pitch, there is a lot to like. Prolific goalscorer for a lot of his career, accustomed to physical leagues, can play a lone striker to good effect and better than what we currently have. His style of play isn't massively build up focussed but getting in goal scoring positions and tucking them away (Per @reids radar) which is the exact type of striker VI is asking for. However, there is a lot of baggage that could bite us hard. He's got a reputation now to have a questionable attitude when things don't go his way off the pitch and would certainly only see us as a stepping stone to greater things, and more pertinantly from that, how he could react if we recieve offers below our valuation. He's also had a Season where he was not very fit and subsequently performances dropped like a stone because he felt slighted by Rangers. His work rate is also poor, a mismatch for what VI asks for. We've done a lot of work this Summer Window removing deadwood and apathetic players. We seem to have a group of players who want to be here and will buy into VI's system. It's a big risk potentially destabilising it. However, it would go with the club's modus operandi for taking in players who's value has dropped due to form, injury or whatever else and some work out prolificly (ie: Dennis, who also came in with an attitude problem but performances were extremely profitable for both parties) whilst others don't. If VI thinks he can get him on side, I'm not against this but it requires buy in from the whole hierachy on this transfer for it to not end it tears.
I’m not against this as he knows how to score, but I am getting confused about the type of number 9 we are going to use. He’s no big target man, and nor is Healey. And Bayo is tall but not a hold up player.
We have a proven history of taking on fat past-it has-beens, and turning them back into highly motivated lean mean hungry stars. I don’t see an issue.
He’s in the has-been category because he’s dipped below the peak he reached a couple of years ago, the season before he left Rangers when he really looked a hot prospect. He dipped in his final season at Rangers as has been noted above, and flopped completely at C Palace where he’s fattened up. I’m not sure we are the best equipped to turn around the good ship Morales.
Considering he was fat and lazy for Rangers last season and didn’t want to be there, he still had a 16 goal contribution (11 goals 5 assists) in 1600 mins in the league. So a goal involvement every 100mins. Obviously the Scottish league is the equivalent of lower championship/league 1 standard, but if we can get this guy up and running, no reason he can’t contribute at least 10 goals this season amidst his suspensions.

Doubt if it will happen. Saudis will be offering about 50 times more. If he did sign he’d probably be great for about 6 games and then have a fight with someone
I hope we steer clear of this one. He is disruptive and is liable to just not bother when it suits him, like he did for Rangers last year. What I want to see from Watford this year is a squad of players that give it everything on the pitch and have a close team spirit. In some ways, as the scum have shown, that is more important than individual abilities. Morelos has shown he is not that sort of player/person.
Not sure what to think about this. He’s a loose cannon with a big ego. When we’re aiming for a tight knit group of workhorses without ego, he doesn’t seem to be the right fit for us. Very temperamental as seen by his dreadful disciplinary record. But he does have some quality. Is he worth the baggage that comes with him? Not so sure. For me I wouldn’t be disappointed if this link comes to nothing.
I’d caveat that slightly. My favoured squad would be a group of players who give absolutely everything, with at least one talented nutcase.
Get him in. We're a painfully ******* boring football club/team. At least he'll bring some form of excitement.
At least after Deeney, Rose and Tufan our ownership had the good sense to start charging for food at the training ground.
