I liked Kabs. Not the best defender and seemed to be made of glass and quite shy, but did a decent enough job when called upon and certainly threw himself into the club off the pitch.
The only way we were ever going to get rid of him, frustrating defender whose brain wasn't always in gear, only really showed flashes of quality, but not as bad as his detractors would have you believe
I just wonder how happy Udinese must be to operate as the Hornets green recycling bin. Yet again we appear to have sidelined some more deadwood and they have obliged with an undisclosed fee. We must soon be getting close to recouping our Pussetto fee. I suppose that constitutes our long ball game these days!
Seems like a nice enough guy, but very very limited as a defender and makes total sense to get rid seeing as he (allegedly) was a high earner too.
You’d expect a new central defender to now be added to our shopping list wouldn’t you? With the loss of Kabasele, Cathcart and Troost-Ekong I’m not at all saying we are wrong to do so but that’s a lot of experience that’s left us this summer, coupled with Cleverley and maybe Gosling too and actually in our recent history even Sarr as well as he had four full seasons. I can understand why the club wanted Ince and Livermore, to tick that box at least So our longest serving player is now?
From an outgoings perspective this transfer window is the gift that keeps on giving. Get rid of Flapmann and it would be into A+++ territory.
Apparently Sema is the only member of our cup final squad now still here. But yes Bachmann joined before him. 2017 v 2018. Pusetto was 2020
We currently have 4 centre backs, including Sierralta who has been playing as a defensive midfielder in pre-season, could do with one more, even if that would mean Pollock is in limbo again. A defensive midfielder is surely as much of a priority as well considering Livermore is our only real option there
Bachmann was on loan at Kilmarnock at the time I think, but he arrived before Sema. I don't think anyone would have expected him to still be all those years later when we first signed him!
So Ngakia is our longest serving player who has been here continuously since signing rather than spending some of his time with us elsewhere?
Nothing against Kabba but I am glad this has happened. Not the best player on the pitch but he seemed to have good values and be a decent bloke off the pitch, so wish him all the best and good luck to him.
He should have been sacked after laying down on the pitch in 2017 allowing Bournemouth to score. He was the biggest calamity until Troost Ekong turned up and somehow out did him.
Bachmann has been at the club continuously since 2019, although spent almost all of that time up until Foster's injury in early 2021 exclusively on the bench, Sema returned from his loan at Udinese in 2020, which is when Ngakia arrived
A sad day. Kabs glittering career is over with the orns. As a gentlemen who sat in front of me put it “Kabasele is dangerous in both penalty areas”. He was certainly prone to some serious lapses of concentration, I’m not sure he troubled too may of the opposition defences
Thank you my friend. The 43c heat today has frazzled my memory a little. I had it in my head we’d loaned him out somewhere
Btw Kabasele was until his departure our second most prolific scorer (for us) at the club with 7 Watford goals. Only Sema has more. Louza thus moves up to second place with 5.
Obviously there are no other forward thinking players who have been here for a significant period of time, but this is still a bit frightening...
So how much do you reckon we got? Couple of million maybe to cover his wages. Probably another player Pozzos hoped to make a profit on when he signed.
Sadly, that will be my prime memory of him. I was at that game and could not believe what I was seeing. We would of probably won the game as well (2-1 up at the time). That aside, a loyal player who has been up and down the divisions with us for a while. Had his moments of quality but was overall past his best a while ago. I wish him all the best at Udinese and whatever he does with the rest of his career.
