I suspect the main problem is people aren’t listening to him as they he will be gone in no time .

The results have been poor but there has to be a collective responsibility for that which there isn’t.

I'm not suggesting he's not trying. I'm just saying that he has been even less effective than his predecessors and is very quick to blame everyone and everything else, safe in the knowledge it won't cost him, and will protect his reputation.

But half a dozen games ago we still had a decent chnace of the POs, and even last night, had we won, we would have been within a couple of points of 6th. Yet he still can't get the team motivated, players who could have been premier league players next season ?

    Managers are at fault
    Players are at fault
    Pozzos are at fault

trying to single one out for blame misses the point of how entirely interlinked all of our issues are

That is still more of a reflection on the players. Why should they need motivating for a winnable home game that would put us firmly in the play off picture? And yet they tossed it off as they did under Bilic and Edwards.

Those players simply can’t get motivated. They don’t care.

My question about Wilder is if he really thinks the players have been dire and lazy ****s (which they have) why are the same names playing game in game out and why not just shake things up big time?

At Coventry we should've won with a heavily rotated lineup. Why are same names like Davis Louza Bachmann Choudhury making the team when they don't give the level and are clearly being targeted by Wilder at pressers? It makes no sense.

He's not here for long. Just **** it mate and make a radical switch up, give the bench players a chance.

In Davis we have probably the worst striker in the league yet he has been deemed to good enough to start every single game when available.

Bachmann been in very poor form yet only benched when gets a suspension.

Louza and Choudhury may be very rated by the fans but every player can go on off days, and since Louza got back in the team results have nosedived. No player should have a guaranteed spot unless they are extremely good.

They have performed even more poorly than under the previous 2 managers despite a full squad and an easy run in !! You think a manager has no responsibility for motivating a team and getting them to play to a system ? It's all everyone elses fault ?? Apparently exactly the "not my fault" he used at Mboro before they appointed a decent manager.

Listen, I'm not saying it's all the managers fault, I'm just saying I hate the fact that he is trying to protect his reputation by taking absolutely zero resposnibility for any of this ****show of a run in.

To be fair to him, he's walking several tight ropes, trying to avoid swearing, crying, saying something which could not only get him fired but stop him being hired elsewhere, etc.

I don't think he needs to protect his reputation, so I doubt that's the motive. The whole footballing world and media sees us as a complete circus of a club. There was zero expectation.

Nor did Wilder arrive giving it the billy big ballacks about how he was going to show others how it was done, so it's not as if he's belatedly trying to backpedal.

I just think he's being honest.

We are truly in an awful position.

We had our chance to reset the culture with Edwards coming in. But owners revert to type after 11 games.

Does anyone but Gino seriously think we'd not be in a better position as a club if we'd stuck with a manager for a season or two?

    Another horrible capitulation .

I think I’m actually an idiot as , despite all the evidence to the contrary , when we got the first goal I did think… maybe if we get 2 wins in a row this team can build some momentum and at least make it interesting for the rest of the season …but of course we then conceded 3 goals against a side that have struggled to score away from home all season with a complete inability to do any basic defending .

The only good point for me was that I couldn’t actually go to the match , so could switch it off straight after .

Wilder has called it. He knows how to motivate and set up a team but he can’t do it with this group and I don’t think anyone can with any consistency. The sooner this season ends the better .

  16. wfcmoog

    wfcmoog Tinpot

More than half that team knows or suspects they most likely won't be here next season.

The way we do business means that when it goes wrong, most players probably think 'I'll call my agent and get out of here's long before they think 'I wanna be part of the solution to turn this around with my team mates.'

Only the likes of Troost and Deeney really had any emotional buy in. The rest will just consider Watford a poor career move before they get back on track somewhere not farcical.

I'm just saying I don't think he's being big and brave to speak out. I think he has nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so. I don't think he is the problem but I do think he has under-performed vs what was reasonable to expect. We were close to the POs with avery winnable run infront of us and we have been turned over by Cardiff, Hudders and QPR in recent weeks. The players seem to play for him even less than they did for his predecessors.Clearly we should have stuck with Edwards all along, though it's not clear even he could have been successful here.
There is so much broken at this club at the moment, it's difficult to see how they can turn this around given the structure, players and finances we have right now.

Not at all, that is exactly a managers job...but you can't polish a turd. The players are deadbeat renegades who do what they want - my point is that nobody on this planet can motivate or structure this current rabble. I like Wilder but you might as well have the tea lady in the dugout, the pricks on the pitch do what they want anyway.

  22. The undeniable truth

A £30m turd in Pedro and a £10m turd in Sarr? Clearly there will be no takers for them this summer then ? They will leave and never be seen or heard of again ?
Well if that's your view, zero responsibilty for the manager, just blame everyone else, then we might as well have appointed the tea lady. Maybe it will be her time next season. At least that should save some £££s.

He IS speaking like a fan, not the team's manager who should expect to at least shoulder some of the responsibility for the **** that he and his team have served up for us. If he genuinely feels he has no impact on performance he should walk, it's only a month or so of his contract left.

Cut and paste and cut and paste and cut and paste from all the previous manager out threads. I can not believe people are still blaming the bloody manager!!!

The whole squad gave up after Bilic was sacked, it's the same s**t just in a different season. No one wants to be part of the circus anymore and going through 3 managers again this season has been the final straw.

I don't think he's the answer, but I'm glad he's making the points we can't.

He's talked about players deviating from the plans and specific examples of how.

However much people criticise the players for not trying or caring or the manager for using the wrong tactics, my view is that we have totally the wrong squad of players for this league. The Championship is all about pace, strength, power and sheer bloody-minded desire to get through the punishing 46 game programme in which most teams think they can make the play-offs. If you can add to that a sprinkling of quality players a dead ball expert, a decent finisher etc., you have half a chance of getting promoted. We have none of this. All our midfield players want to play from deep; Pedro to run with the ball, Louza to play passes etc., so it’s no surprise that there’s never anyone to pass to further up the pitch - nobody makes themselves available by making runs to support the striker. We don’t even have the option of lumping the ball long for a bustling forward or two to compete for. The player recruitment for next season has to be right or we have no chance of challenging.

Idk about the valuations, but yes. Turds. Two players who've shown that they could play lower/mid table Premier league football but who cannot be motivated to consistently bring quality into championship games, by any of 5 managers.

    Turds.

I would happily sit in the championship for the next 5 years if it meant Pozzo gets bored and sells up. I hate the thought of getting promoted and lining the pockets of him and his cronies. Drain the swamp.

Sarr has been switched off for most of the season - everyone can see it. All he is doing at the moment is avoiding injury. You say £10m, what a staggering loss that will be on what we paid for him.

Pedro - he has been off par for a while now. Given the captains armband to try and get him going but last night he strops off whilst waving his arms at the fans...his attitude stinks. I think he will go on to have a good career but he is doing his own thing at the moment.

You've mentioned those two players but how about Kamara, Bachmann, Kayembe, Kalu, Davis, Louza, Choudhury, Gaspar, Ferreira, TDB, Araujo, Martins, Okoye, Ngakia, Bayo, Hungbo? All either injured every 5 minutes, lack composure or simply not very good. What do they bring that is good?

The squad is utterly rank and is THE problem. They are rank in terms of attitude and ability.

There are four key areas with any player - are they good technically, tactically, physically and mentally. How many of our injury prone deadbeats tick all four boxes?

Fanciful idea but hopefully Gino can leave Manga and co to try and perform the major surgery that is needed and hopefully Manga lives up to the hype he is receiving and is capable of doing it.

It's less the individual players than the culture they come into, I'd say. Which is fuelled by the managerial merry go round.

The squad is the problem, so you think we have a poorer squad than Millwall, Luton, Blackburn etc ? Did you think that at the start of the season when HMSPTL was salivating about the prospect of Sarr, Pedro feeding Davis who'd been a success and popular at NF. Louza's skill alongside Choudhury's ball-winning skill in midfield ?
The squad is the problem in that it is they who are getting beaten and appearing to lack motivation and organisation but I don't agree that the manager just gets a free pass because he happens to speak out as he comes to the end of his contract. He has been less successful than his predecessors despite a full squad and an easier run.
Everything is broken right now. A team who don't seem to care, a manager who has failed and admits to being unable to get them to play how he wants, a confusing structure, no money, reducing income, huge debts. I'm really worried about the future of this club and it's not because we have really poor players compared to our peers.
