Play loud music to drown out the boos, announce the crowd as 19,459 again, pretend everything is fine. We are becoming Pravda FC. But this is a club that has rotted from the centre and now we can all see the decay on the surface. A squad that is utterly devoid of leadership playing for a club that is utterly devoid of leadership. We support through thick and thin, we tolerate the lows and enjoy the highs, but this... this emptiness is something I cannot remember. A club with no heart, no soul, barely any integrity or self-respect. A sad spectacle indeed.
As we saw at Coventry, we can occasionally play some silky looking stuff going forwards, but as soon as the opposition attacks us we're about as difficult to break down as a piece of spaghetti. Truly embarrassing defending and effort practically all round. Porteous has been horrendously error prone in the last few games. Today Hoedt joined him in that. Sure they may seem fairly comfortable on the ball, but crikey we even seemed more solid at the back with Cathcart and Kabasele!? We got promoted last time with Sierralta and WTE, neither of which could pass the ball for toffee, but both of which could actually defend. Big shout out to Louza for rivaling Sarr in being the laziest player out there. His "effort" for their first goal was scandalous. Also, his corners are terrible. Why was he still taking them even after Ken was on the pitch? His were actually decent earlier in the season. Davis still seems completely unfit. I'll excuse Andrews and Kone for still being relatively young and inexperienced, but aside from them, Asprilla and Sema, I wouldn't be sorry to see the back of any of the other players who were out there today. We have to hope we can somehow afford a massive squad overhaul in the summer, as we're going to need it.
So what can one say. POZZO OUT. All of this is down to him. I don't blame Wilder. Appalling recruitment, players on fat long contracts, shocking medical team, no team psychologist. We will be fighting a relegation battle next season unless there is a mass clearout and/or new owners come in. It's been an appalling season. Cardiff are shockingly bad. The division's lowest scorers yet they knock three in and it could have been four or five. We needed to get goals and could barely create anything for another thirty minutes or so. Just one player in the box at times, players unable to pass to each other. No pattern or shape. The mental frailty and cowardice beggars belief. Pozzo asking the PA to play music at full volume won't hide the shitshow on and off the pitch. Please leave the club. Your continual mistakes are destroying it. We are headed in one direction only under your ownership and that is League One.
In some weird attempt to balance out the universe, I watched this on my phone on a beach near Tulum, Mexico. The Pina Coladas helped swing things slightly back in my favour. I love how winning one game made some people think we’d somehow then win another four when we hadn’t even come close to that all season. Mid-table teams do win games every now and then, but they never win five in a row.
Missed the game as at work . Couldn’t get the time off. Looks like this lot clocked out after 15 minutes !
The loud music at the end and the inflated attendance is incredible. We are the North Korea of football hahahaha
Mooney summed it up quite nicely. Cardiff are a team with very little quality, but a lot of desire. And really, that's all it takes against a team with the mental fortitude of ours.
I hope Ubenga has his notepad out. Under OUT he can file most of this squad. He'll have a very busy summer filling the gaps to create a side that actually can defend, has heart/courage and know what to do with a football. Plus find for Gods sake a set piece analyst. You have a great header of a ball like Porteous but the deliveries, the routines for corners and free kicks are beyond bad. Another *****show.
So all the other results pretty much went our way. A win and we are within 2 points of 6th place with 3 games to go. One up after 11 mins. What could possibly go wrong ?
Cardiff needed that win, we handed it to them with another appauling performance in front of a half-empty Vicarage Road. Disgusting behaviour from the club again with the stewards pacing the touchlines second half. May as well not bothered coming out for the second half. Abysmal doesn't even begin to describe this season and how poorly run we are right now. Hull, Sunderland and Stoke to go. Our goal was good, yeah that's all I can be bothered to say. Well done to the fans' who did go for trying to voice their anger at what is going on. Squad folded as soon as Cardiff ran at us. Even the BBC Sport text was taking the mickey out of us. Absolute horror show on and off the pitch. Cannot wait for this season to end.
Even if he does, what does it matter? The players have been putting in even less effort under him than they were under Bilic!
Wilder needs to rip into them and say he can't do anymore. Resign and let some poor sod takeover for the remaining games. Can't wait for the end of season awards. They ought to scrap those. Pointless exercise. They should make the squad go on a communal litter picking exercise down the A412.
Could make a couple of notes like 'don't sign young Portuguese right backs that are never fit or strikers who can't get off the bench' whilst he's at it!
Nice of the PA system to be whacked to full volume to try and drown out the chants. It's all very North Korea. I just can't get enough.
And you say that we won't be amoung the relegation favourites next season? We are in very deep 5hit on and off the pitch. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road..
So, will the clutching at straws finally stop now? Can we close the “will we make the playoffs” thread and instead have one for “will we finish in the top half?”
Fragments looks good Moog, might try and get to that. Ευριπίδης is the master of Τραγωδία acknowledged as millennia ahead of his time in his writing for women. Watford appear to be reversing backwards to ancient times in terms of ... pretty much everything. Beggars belief but it's decaying infront of your eyes.
Watch your footing around the ruins. Or you might end up at London Colney in the hands of our medical team. On a serious note enjoy the archaeology it's spectacular engineering.
For me it's the lack of "cajones/passion/energy" of most of the team. (I don't class passion as kicking the opposition in a useless challenge, giving away a free kick and then throwing a hissy fit). All season we move the ball sideways and backwards, with the clear ambition of slowing the game down. The oppo just soak up what we've got and then flick a switch - go up two gears and our lot just cannot cope at all (week after week)...
Looking forward to clearing out the majority of players and hopefully bringing in some who are willing to earn the hyper wages they get paid. It’s been clear for ages it’s not the manager, it’s the squad. They don’t seem interested in playing with each other, plenty of individuals but no sign of a team! Enjoyed our fans mocking the Cardiff players having a row when an attacking pass wasn’t played when they were behind, oh how I wish our players gave enough of a damn about each others performance and showed some passion, instead of just squatting on the pitch at the end after another poor display showing some faux sadness and reflection. Having watched us predominantly in lower leagues than the Prem that side of things doesn’t overly bother me as long as the football offers entertainment, however this season has offered little to no real enjoyment despite our alleged wealth of talent
To be fair, they announced it as 17,005. It's tickets sold rather than bums on seats, of course. But I dunno, how many turned up? 13,000? 14,000? First step to recovery is admitting there's a problem. We're a long way from that, it seems.
