At this point I'd prefer we don't get promoted. We need to rebuild at this level then try again. Even if that means having to sell Pedro, we need a total reset
A double edged positive. Going to be hard to get rid of a £5m utter dud on a long term deal I think. Unless our sisters fancy him.
im not defending Bayo (don’t need that much grief in my life ), but for at least some of the match he was back defending , then flicking a few passes on in midfield and then in the box waiting for the ball. Sarr did t really do much of any of that, ran around a bit, fell over looked at the ref and did it so many times that when we had an actual possible penalty shout the ref just assumed he had tripped over again. And then to add insult to injury about three times in the match he ran around players for fun just to show he could if he wanted to. if it was up to me I wouldn’t play either
He will be the new Kabasele I predict. Gino will be absolutely desperate to show it wasn’t a total waste of money so will give him contract extensions galore so when he leaves at 34 having never been a first team regular, he will have a few fans saying he was a good servant (which Kabasele will undoubtedly get).
Agree with every word. Bayo is crap but did some basics and tried. Sarr was simply a disgrace. No effort whatsoever. Should be fined and benched. I'd love us to get shot of the absolute bloater.
The plaudits when Kabasele finally leaves are going to be vomit inducing. Cathcart is superior but even then the FTRE sycophants were posting nonsense last week “every day should be a Cathcart appreciation day” despite the player being a consistent losing cog who should have been marginalised years ago. Edit: as in cog, not cultist!
On the penalty shouts (and I’m really not one who thinks there is a conspiracy against us…and I also very much accept Sarr is now ‘the boy who cried wolf’ when it comes down to penalty decisions), the one at the end of the first half was 100% a shove in the back. And reputation or not, a decent referee gives that irrespective. And I’m also in the camp (probably a small one) that thinks his first shout was actually a penalty as well. Sarr’s action in going to ground cost us - but their player clearly steps across him and stops (the angle on Hive Live from the Rookery looking down the pitch confirms this) - it’s a bizarre thing in football where a clear body check outside the box is a foul every single time…but a clear body check inside the box is very rarely considered a foul at all. We had 2 good, clear penalty shouts for me today - and sure Sarr doesn’t help himself. But that’s no excuse for a referee disregarding the rules of the game.
For a massive loss. Us subsidising wages and no prospect of recovering £5m. This transfer has been an utter disaster. A disgrace.
Agree, lets get rid of the only residual good player. I love your humour and posts, but the anti Sarr narrative on this forum is maddeningly absurd.
I don't understand what a 'residual good player' is, but Sarr is not any sort of good player to me. He's a liability and reduces my enjoyment of the game because he just lopes about doing nothing. I'd rather enjoy watching other players than watching Sarr. He's the worst signing in our club's history and it's time the club owned up to its error and binned him off as soon as possible
Definitely. For all the sub par performance overall, if he didn't **** himself in front of goal we'd have three points now and would be patting ourselves on the back for three wins on the spin whilst still without a lot of key players.
I tend to agree. We are not in a good spot and it’s not been a good signing overall. But we might as well play and support Sarr while we still have him, despite his inconsistency.
Does he even have pace anymore? I'm not convinced. When can you remember him last opening up the throttle and leaving a clean pair of heels to anyone? I genuinely cannot recall it happening for a couple of years.
I agree, however I don't want whatever glimmer of hope is in Adeyemo's play will be killed after a few games of playing in our toxic team.
One of the fastest players currently playing the game, and yet he prefers to approach 90% of attacks at walking pace Bizarre
Bayo tried and did some good work for the team today. However the falling over himself when the ball was squared to him in the second half just highlights how naff he is where it counts
Yeah but Bilic is still operating within the exact same model as all our other failed coaches. So far this window he's been tossed a random selection of teenage prospects by our owners and told to make a team out of them along with the existing scraps. How does a coach create a style and identity when they have no input on who we sign? They will always be forced to make do with what they can. Until we change the model, the coach is basically there to give positive speeches and make subs at the right time.
I get what Bilic was trying to do, making Kamara earn his shirt back and rewarding Morris for a decent performance last time but huge shame he didn't start Kamara. There were acres of space on the left in the first half but Morris was just too slow to drive into it. Kamara created far more in the second even though they'd tightened it up and were sitting deep.
We played sh!te, ref was a mug, Sierralta and Choudhury played well, Ferreira lacked chemistry with Martins but was overall quite decent and pacy and Kamara looked galaxies ahead of Morris
Hard to pick a single moment as the low point of the day, but for me it came in the second half when Bayo missed a sitter and was still laying on the floor when the ball rebounded to him for what, if he was on his feet, would have been an open goal. An unbelievably sh1te player
I think Sarr has turned into everything people hated Zaha for. He has the ability to do great things, but if more focused on trying to create a foul and lying on the floor afterwards complaining about not getting it.
Ferreira is yet another defender who can't defend but looks ok going forward. Kamara the same. Bayo was better this week than last and he put himself about, including mucking in with some decent defensive work. Asprilla and Gaspar both missed chances to win the game that really should have been taken. After a glimmer of effort last week Sarr returned to his usual meek performance levels and put in minimal effort. I think he has now had 6 penalty shouts in two games where he has looked at the ref in disbelief. He is crap at diving but that seems to be his default approach when he is in the box.
Going to be a big test for Bilic between now and the end of the season. We won't get automatics, and I'd say it will be highly unlikely to slip out of the playoffs. Everything now is just a dress rehearsal for a knockout competition. I'm barely motivated so god knows how the players feel
What a disappointing game and result after last weeks high, we end the game with hopes pinning on two youngsters who’s ages add up pretty closely to an aging not very good full back who has been placed in midfield and managed to hit the woodwork not once but twice. I like Slaven but the team are not playing to the sum of their parts, Norwich away was as good a result as this one wasn’t I’m afraid!
While I cannot stand Zaha's antics, I do agree, Zaha may not have Sarr's pace, but he is more consistent in front of goal. There are also very few games he gives an abject performance for Palarse over the years. Sarr is, undoubtedly a talent and could really thrive in a decent PL side. But until he learns how to use that talent game in, game out - he will continue to go down in people's evaluations.
