"On his way back to full fitness." Exactly what we need. Unfortunately, I can't see him coming if he's fully fit before the transfer window closes.
Again another defender linked, has Gino finally wised up. Good when I've seen him play but he's been out injured for a while now.
If he joined I’d want him to be on a perm, personally. We need to start thinking about who is going to play at CB for us next season.
Yet another mooted loan move - considering basically all the players we've actually been linked with who'd be proper upgrades have been mooted loan deals (Dennis, Hughes, Tuanzebe) you can't see how we'd fit them all in.
Theoretically it could be either, though I'd be pleasantly surprised if Dennis was willing to join us on a perm in the Champ and we'd be willing to spend what would be needed to bring him here.
We get this every window. Rumour after rumour after rumour. One will always be a former player. This time around we have three. We never sign anyone decent. As mentioned above, unless we’re cancelling loans, we don’t have the space for first teamers.
I would imagine Kortney Hause's loan will be cancelled so it is plausible that Tuanzebe could be a replacement for him.
The point is even if we return Hause then we'd only have 1 loan spot available - or maybe 2 loan spots if Martins is actually coming to us permanently rather than from Udinese. That means if we brought in Tuanzebe, we could only maybe sign maximum one of either Hughes or Dennis in addition on loan (if they're available).
Doesn't his contract expire in the summer so if we like him and he likes us we sign him ? Or is that wrong ? Still an issue with number of loans though....
We'd still have to sign him now though on loan first. Unless he'd be willing to permanently sign for a Championship club already - which I doubt. I suspect he'd only be willing to join us temporarily to get his form back, with an eye on earning a PL move in the summer, either to us or to someone else. Otherwise he's too good to be signing permanently to a side who might still be stuck in the Champ next season.
Is he? He’s only had one consistent season playing lots of minutes and that was at Villa in the Championship. Any PL side would be underwhelmed signing him. Personally think a starting role at a top 6 championship side is exactly what he needs. But I doubt he recognises that.
The loans limit is only on the match day squad. We can have more than five in the general squad but only five in the 18. Not the biggest problem.
Who or what is Hungry Hungry Hippos? Are they sweeties,a popular beat combo or an internet site that I don't know about?! I am aware of Mr Tuanzebe's work.
Board game - been around for a while. Used to play it as kids in the 90s. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungry_Hungry_Hippos
Yes I appreciate that but assuming we'd want loan players to play, it's close to being the same thing. I guess the fact that we have approx 50% of players out injured at any one time, we could perhaps sign up to 10 !?
It is when they're generally your best players and you have to leave one or two out of the theoretical playoff final squad!
a) we might not have more than five fit and b) we could cross the bridge when it comes to it. The bigger issue is that relying on loans would necessitate building from scratch in the summer.
To sign a centre back on a short term deal is pointless. He would certainly improve us but a waste of a loan in a position where we have a lot of fit players (albeit below par). With the squad in the state it’s in, other areas need addressing far more.
Not necessarily, for instance Hughes, Dennis and Tuanzebe might be open to signing in permanent deals if we loaned them first then got promoted.
I'm certainly looking forward to the traditional follow up Man U song which we should now start tuning up in preparation. "Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Axel's at the wheel, at the wheel, Axel's at the wheel..."
