Well how bloody Watfordy was that? Was pretty even. Both teams with chances. Ref seemed fair overall. morris - deserves a special note. Callow yes. But called for the ball. And despite his youth actually tried very hard. A player we can get behind and support and nurture. despite so many injuries they all tried, to a man. Bilic is a good tactician. He might make mistakes but if I was a troop I’d want him as a general the fans - I sat in a very sedate lounge opposite our fans. you were loud throughout. Proud of you guys. I still think n we should sideline the opposition fans in the lower rous and have our most vocal support next door it lends itself to a good atmosphere
Extremely generous on Ngakia that - thought he was pretty awful. But I can overlook that tonight because he gave effort in spades, like the rest of them. Gaspar was superb.
Why did I bet against us winning this? We always win at Carrow Road - that's our third straight win over them and fourth in five games. Have a to give a lot of kudos to Bilic and the lads for that. Nobody saw that result coming, and we deserved it overall on the balance of play. Despite them having a goal ruled out for offside I thought we defended well especially after Bayo gave us the most unlikely of leads, but what a peach from Sarr. When he turns up, that is what he can do. Problem is, he is so damn lazy 90% of the time. Should of probably gone in 1-0 ahead at the break as the former took too long to pick his spot when well placed, but to get through that despite MORE INJURIES (christ on a bike), they deserve a lot of credit tonight. Hopefully the recent two are not long term and considering it's the FA Cup next we can hopefully give a full week rest to anyone who played today. Not sure what Norwich's game plan was - they seemed to lack ideas when they got on the ball. We did lose our pressing game towards the end of each half, but the team in such disary it's not surprising. Hat's off to Davis though. Outstanding first half performance, best i've seen him play for us since he signed. He lead the line and was forcing the press each time we got forward. Hopefully that win has restored a little bit of self confidence back into the squad after two dismal results and performances. Kone' and the rest of the new lads will be walking into a side with a bit more swagger now. I still don't how we managed to lose Kalu and then Davis today, but overall cannot complain with the result and effort. Sarr may of been playing for a move today, but I think he knows he has that in his locker. Credit to Morris as well today, he had a few scares but did alright, as did Ngakia to be fair, but his crossing is still woeful. Fair play to the travelling hornets and our very own @Cthulhu who went to his local seasonal win today. Let's hope and pray this is not a one off performance and we can at least try to finish in and around the playoffs this season, that in itself would be a successful campaign. Far from perfect but we did enough and held on despite a glutton of injury time. Oh, and despite hammering us last season at the Vic, Norwich fans' must be sick to death of playing us.
Well, I was expecting another hiding after Swansea and seeing the lineup. Despite being an utterly makeshift side, it was not a smash-and-grab job. If Norwich cannot beat that team we put out, they didn't deserve to win anything. I was genuinely expecting Bayo to miss.
Outstanding result but for me, more important was the performance. Only saw the second half and thought Morris looked decent. I thought Bacuna and especially Gaspar were excellent in midfield. Bayo is frustrating but gets in the right areas and does get goals. The most annoying part now is the absolute sh1t show against Millwall and Swansea when we show today what we can do. Great away support as well
I heard so many times as I walked around how they were all scared of sarr. I think the whole club at Norwich are . and then he unlocked them
An extra note - it could have been a bit simpler for us if the ref had rightfully sent off Gibbs for them in the first half when he was already on a yellow and lunged in studs up.
So. Half our senior squad is injured now. Hause (?), Louza (Leg break), Choudhury (Knee impact), Dele-Bashiru (Ankle ligament), Cleverley (Impact + long standing injury) and Pedro (Ankle ligament) were unlucky contact injuries. The rest are preventable muscular problems. Kabasele (Hammy), Kayembe (Calf), Gosling (Achilles tendon), Kalu (Hammy), Sema (?), Davis (Hammy), Manaj (Hammy) Bilic deserves an incredible amount of credit dealing with that he's been dealt with. Norwich gave us too much respect on the ball but I'm amazed with what he just achieved.
Well I never. Three points plus the usual three injuries. Well done lads. No longer losers but legends of Bank Holiday Monday. Not just unbeaten but 100% wins this year.
A terrific performance all things considered. That’s the second time this season I’ve been 100% convinced we were gonna lose ( first time was Luton !) and once again they pulled out a performance full of commitment and desire . Have to give them credit for that. Thought Gaspar was excellent . Davis was carrying the ball superbly and our best attacking option until the injury. Bayo was truly dreadful but he scored so have to give him credit for at least being on the spot . They all put in a shift though and Asprilla had some real class touches when he came on, as well as pkaying a part in the goal. The injuries are ridiculous though . I’ve never seen anything like it . I am literally holding my breath every time one of our players goes down. We are losing 2 or 3 every match . At this rate we won’t have 11 players to put out. We will need to play a very weak Side for the fa cup as don’t want to risk any more injuries .
The last I'd read in the Martins thread was that he'd be available, but in the Kone one that he wouldn't be. I'd intentionally avoided reading this thread prior to the game (and have also been avoiding the Championship thread) because I've not wanted to find out the scores from the earlier Championship fixtures prior to the EFL highlights show tonight.
I’d go the other way - Ngakia was impressive for me and Gaspar very meh. Funny old game. (Safe flight by the way!)
Wow so much more effort and a great result , all players regardless of quality at least looked like they wanted the ball and where chasing everything. Davis was excellent (shame he is now injured) , ngakia was good going forward , real purpose , Gaspar good considering out of position Sarr better, but still need more thought Morris considering he would t normally get anywhere near the squad was alright , some good crosses and driving down the wing. defence pretty solid could have done without the three new injuries also not sure Bachman looked that great at the end so might also end up injured.
We should literally play the U23s. No first-team players, no new players. We can't afford risking a single extra injury. We'd be absolutely mental to play any first teamers.
Thank you - we watched in a pub in Staines (grim) and are now in an Uber to Heathrow. Happy New Year to you all! Grateful for Virgin Atlantic free Wi-Fi so I can read everyone’s thoughts whilst over the Atlantic! Hoping the snow hasn’t decimated our house over there too much…
That result is hard to take. Despite the positivity of 3 more ridiculous injuries, it stings a little to see this ******** of a club enjoy any sort of success right now. It's especially bitter to swallow Bayo scoring, as it adds more fuel to the fire that he isn't an absolutely awful footballer and an utter waste of £5m. Looking ahead though, I feel confident that this was a false dawn and we will return to being abject very soon.
Thought Ngakia was decent too . Not everything he did came off but thought he carried the ball well at times and contributed to some good link up play .
Absolutely. Serious look at the S and C team required although as SB said the players having to run so much more due to lack of options.
He won't get the plaudits. But Bacuna was our star today, glued it all together, never got dragged out of position, never gave the ball away, was coaching Morris and Gaspar positionally throughout the game. Fair play to him.
Take to your flight with this thought! The only person who predicted we would win 1-0 was @The Voice of Reason
