That is one good sign I suppose, must have done enough to show he is worth a short term contract, either that or we are very, very, very short of numbers.

Likely to be a bog standard Championship midfielder, but just needs to do a job for a handful of games. Better than throwing in the next Dan Phillips in the deep end.

No surprise the forum slates this superb player before they have had a chance to assess him in person. Excellent, excellent signing.

The difference of course being that in this case, many forum members *have* seen him in person, and on TV, and have said as much.

So the sarcastic comment doesn't really work, unfortunately.

Played a couple of internationals for *checks notes* Curacao at the back end of September so hopefully some residual match fitness hanging around!

Hey I'm with you. People will be chewing their fists off eating humble pie just like with Kalu and Bayo. Forum's gonna forum. This guy will only add depth to the best championship squad in history.

Well if he played with Clevs he knows the sort of no nonsense rough and tumble, in your face football we play. He should fit in well. Thank god we are looking at our non-existent midfield and trying to rectify it. Hopefully he can fill the void a little till the end of the season. Not sure if there's a chance of a signing out of it.

We should get the premier league clubs to fund our academy or we threaten to close it. They are the only ones who benefit from it.

I don’t think Mooney was/is impressed with Davis either .

Called him a non goal scoring number 9..

It is positive that Bacuna has been training with the squad for several weeks, I have not seen Bacuna play in years, but Cardiff City fans universally think he is awful. We are very short on players LB plays in two positions we are weak in; the likelihood is he will be crap, but he has plenty of Championship experience, and in my opinion, it is worth a punt when you consider our injury crisis in the midfield area. If I remember correctly, he isn't too shabby at set pieces. It is a low-risk signing.

They should change ‘our time is now’ to ‘is worth a punt’ on all the signs.

Have to disagree about Carlos Sanchez, I was not sure when he come in and initially, I was critical. But Sanchez turned out to be an important squad player as he was so comfortable and assured on the ball.

Still largely pretty average, one assured half against Reading aside, but came in at a time where we had a better team than we do now, so we could largely cover for the fact that he wasn't that good.

As for Bacuna, we're shopping right in the bargain basement, but in all seriousness, I don't think we could have expected much more, especially considering he's only likely to be necessary for 4 games, I don't think anyone else would be cheap enough to fill a hole for such a short space of time

This is one of those weird Watford myths.

He had a good half against someone (Reading?). Beyond that he was fairly poor/anonymous.

I think he's one of the only mid season panic free transfers that did nothing wrong. I think that Reading game was absolutely vital so it sticks out in people's minds

I think it’s the fact that we won all but 1 of the games he played in that maybe clouds opinion.

He wasn’t awful. Probably the best thing you could say about him.

It's not because he's cheap that we've signed him, it's because he's out of contract. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to bring him in until January, leaving us extremely short for another 3 games in midfield. Anyone who is a free agent right now is going to be of questionable ability, but I don't think cheap comes into it - just available.

Exactly. The free agent market is terrible - there's the likes of Tom Carroll, Danny Drinkwater and Dale Stephens floating around, so relatively speaking I don't think Bacuna is too bad of an option. But the key thing is we *had* to bring someone in. They can be crap, but as long as it allows JP to move up the pitch, fine by me.

Look maybe this is a function of bad prior squad planning, but we needed to bring a CM in in the summer because the quality of player wasn’t there not the quantity.
    We now have out:
    Louza
    Choudhury
    Cleverley
    Kayembe
    Gosling

That’s five players out who would typically cover two places. Yes, some of them are injury prone but almost any side with five players out in one position would need to dip into the free agent market to handle. It’s frustrating that this has happened and frustrating that it didn’t coincide with a transfer window so we could recall Quina and/or bring someone good in. But don’t think the club can be faulted that much. That (+ Dele-Bashiru who is fit and Sema who has played at CM) strikes me as adequate depth for two CM roles.

We certainly don't help ourselves by doing things like keeping Choudhury, and particularly Gosling, on when they were not fit, but I do wonder how many of our injuries were purely dumb luck, and how many of them originate from some slackness behind the scenes like a lack of preparation

I have literally not seen a single positive comment from any Cardiff fan across social media. Every single one has been mentioning how absolutely rancid it.

It's a dog **** signing. As ever, people will desperately scramble to defend it though.
