Terrific game. Awesome effort from Morocco but France just about deserved the win, I thought. Excellent ref too.

Not sure they “deserved it” except in so far as they had more quality up front. Morocco created far more chances.

Final will be close, I have a feeling the Argies will sneak it.

They did but I thought on balance France just about the edged it.
Hard to pick a winner out of France and Argentina, but I think the script is written for Messi to retire from international footy after scoring the winner in the final

    So it’s France v Argentina .

Or rather Messi v Mbappe and 20 other talented players.

Will we see a repeat of their 2018 classic or a cagey affair given what is at stake?

Good looking final to an enjoyable world cup. Imagine it will be cagey given it's the final though. 1-0 France.

Be a few egg on faces if Argentina win after the mocking they got after losing to Saudi Arabia!

In the work sweepstake we drew two teams each. I drew France and Argentina and have already asked if I can claim the winnings!

My picks at the start were either Brazil or Argentina to win.
No back to back winners in WC since 1962 and key midfield men missing was why i didn't pick France this time having picked them last time. They've done well getting to the final however I'll stick with Argentina.

I want Argentina to win. Just to imagine how Ronaldo is feeling about Messi winning the world cup.

For me it’s a bit like city and Liverpool playing each other, the only good result is if they both lost.

I'm with the Argies. Since half of them are Welsh anyway. Also, they have a very nice and enchanting accent in Spanish. Also their fans have been the best - nobody could deny that.

Also the French will be insufferable if they win two cups on the trot. Imagine.

The final will be a "showdown" between Messi and Mbappe they say on the stupid TV. Tug tug tug. How disrespectful to the other players. It is a team game.

I am already sick of the fawning and gushing over those two.

I’m surprised you even have a capitalist pig TV, shouldn’t you be relying on a wind-up radio?

Same. I reckon France will get a major shock when the ref suddenly gives all major decisions the other way.

From a marketing perspective for FIFA and Qatar, everyone in charge wants a France Argentina final where Messi scores and wins.

Picking the lesser of two evils I want Argentina to win just for Messi really, it would cement his place as the G.O.A.T. for me. I was pro CR7 before as he had won things at more clubs, different leagues etc but after the last couple of months of whinging and the massive ego Messi takes it.

Having said all that France just find a way to win so the final should be interesting.

4-1 France . Argentina finish with 9 men. Messi in tears. Fights break out. Officials require a police escort off the pitch.
It's what Maradona would have wanted R.I.P.

European ref for the final so that will be Argentina's excuse if they lose.

Looks like Southgate is staying till 2024.

Probably mainly due to a lack of other decent options .

    Yes true !

But I wonder if he might have have had enough as there are a lot who would like to see Southgate gone .

Not the players and media though which is important.

Fair play to Southgate. I’ve criticised him but he really could have had his pick of the elite European clubs. He’s turned all that down to stay with England. Historic decision.

You mean you prefer those bastards who collapse to the ground holding their heads whenever they're tackled and who taunt their opponents after they've won?

And French players don't do that? Almost all French players are really smug which annoys me even more than that. In an ideal world, Morocco would have been champions out of these 4 semifinalists.

Makes me laugh, the response to that photo after the shootout. The Dutch are some of the biggest wind up merchants in football.
