He doesn't move! All well and good being big and shredded but it seems like he walks around with an anchor strapped to his back. No energy or work rate. Would do well to slim down..
He didn't have the best of games at all, but he can't do it all on his own, and up against some big lads it's always going to be harder for him to really impose himself like he might be able to against other teams
Monster! Only real downside was him having to go off, but luckily the comms said initial reactions were that it wasn't serious
I might be a little harsh here, but does anyone else think his first touch and general technique with the ball at his feet is pretty poor? Seems to get the ball caught under his feet and be slow and ponderous on the ball and very one footed too. I'm sure there's more to come from him as he's another one whos had niggles and probably isn't fully fit.
I know what you're saying. He's definitely not 100% fit yet and am hopeful that the World Cup break will give him chance to work on his fitness and heal any niggles he's got! Pretty much the same for most of our squad in fairness! Billic has eluded to this already in terms of overall fitness levels.
I want him to do well as he’s local and Forest fans seemed to love him, but I just don’t see more than a pretty standard Championship level striker so far. He’s bordering on pisspoor in the air, which is bizarre given his stature, and clearly not able to stay with the pace for more than an hour. Hope the World Cup break gets him fit and if not I hope we’re not on the hook for the £15m for him come May.
Thought he had some good moments tonight. He brings people into the game and he is strong. Didn’t see the poor first touches that you’re talking about really. On the whole I think the ball tends to stick when it’s played into his feet. He should have been given a penalty, the ref just couldn’t give 2 Watford penalties in front of the Reading fans. There’s no way it wasn’t a foul. And he forced a good save off Lumley. Not his best game, and yes maybe he’s not fully fit…but overall a decent performance from Davis, imho.
I've seen that the new football manager actually has the clause down as half of this on the new game. £7.5m does sound far more realistic.
Think the ref called them right, definitely the two in front of the Rookery at least. Seems to like the dark arts but isn't actually very good at them - was pretty obvious he pulled the bloke down by the arm for the first shout in the second half and then deliberately backed into the airborne player for the second (aka the Harry Kane special). Add that to the pull back on the Coventry defender at the weekend and you think 'just play the flipping game, stop trying to be clever'.
A weird one, not really a target man at all. Best with it to feet, then takes a while to get it out his feet, then once he's motoring, looks unstoppable but then the finish or final ball is poor. Very strange player. Best we have though, just like 5% short of a few things from being an absolute beast. Agree he does ponder a bit sometimes, waits for the ball to come to him. That finish halfway through the first half today, he HAS to score, it's a tame hit at the keeper in the end when he had time to turn on it properly and place it. Not a 20 a season striker but your wingers can get 10-15 each with him in the side.
I hope all these options to buy aren’t compulsory and are genuine opinions. Imagine going up and having to a large portion of the budget on Davis, Chowders and Hause!
If we get promoted then Holebas's Premier League record of 14 bookings in a season would be in danger if we had Choudhury.
Like him as someone who puts himself about and has good touches at times but can be a bit reactive rather than proactive and doesn’t win much in the air .
He got 20 bookings in all comps for me on FM, suspended for an incredible 7 games just through bookings haha
Davis is never going to be super prolific (although his goal record is pretty good for us, but he's always a handful). I don't think we could have expected any more, we all knew what he was like when we signed him
Such a contradictory player. Skilful yet turns into a donkey. Can pin about 5 players, then other times gets totally outmuscled by a player half his size. Generally I think he's lazy Hopefully we don't have to sign him
You mean you hope we don’t get promoted then ? Thought he came with an obligation to buy if promoted or did I imagine that ?
I know, something like £15m! Who knows, I suppose he's still young. It's just unbelievably frustrating watching a player as gifted as he clearly is not being able to produce. My theory is that he's probably one of those that scored about 500 goals a season in youth football and just relied on his physical power to get by.
I know we’ve just had a break for the World Cup but I do wonder just how many games this bloke needs under his belt to not be blowing out of his arse after an hour
Still sticking with this. He's probably playoff chasing Championship quality, but doesn't look like he has even close to enough to make it in the PL.
He's no Viktor Gy*keres who absolutely owned our defence earlier this season. Possibly one of the best displays I've seen from an opposing side in the Championship.
Someone thinks him and Davis would be a real handful together in the PL. https://mobile.twitter.com/lee_harris6/status/1605688313016459272
