Did JP play up top when Manaj went off, or was it Asprilla? I think going forward, I'd like him playing as a #10 behind Davis and Sarr in a 3-5-2, with a RWB coming in, it's not perfect as it leaves Sarr playing as a striker and still leaves us needing a RWB, but it should leave us covered in most areas and should mean we have enough creativity and firepower with JP playing in his best position
Davis will make a huge difference to this team, there will be someone up front who will be able to hold up the hopeful long hoofs from Bachmann, Gaspar, Sierralta, Kabasele, Cathcart, WTE, Kamara, Sema, Choudhury and Kayembe.
Pedro would be well worth that sort of money, but hopefully we will not be selling him as he will probably be worth even more by the end of this season and he seems happy enough playing for us at present. However, if we have to sell anyone I would not mind seeing Sarr leave, but only for the right money.
Shame as I had £49,999,999.99 burning a hole in my pocket. Might invest in some penny sweets instead.
Damn right you will. We don’t want your £49,999,999.99! Come back when you have a chance of affording Pedro you pauper!
Pedro had a cracking game yesterday, in the championship, but again he’s not worth anywhere near £50m yet. Plenty of players have had good games in the championship (yes it has happened before, Pedro isn’t the first to ever do it) before and none of them were ever sold for £50m.
Hope for Joaos sake he does not get sucked into a transfer to Everton. I would be OK with Newcastle and think he would proper and Howe would help him develop. Everton just seem a basket case - it would be a shame and damage his potential
It's at the point now where his price should go up. We can't sell him for the fee touted about 2 weeks ago with hours left in the transfer window. I would hope that we either wait until Jan and have time to get reinforcements in or we have a signing lined up ready to come in immediately. Same with Sarr, 25m agreed with Villa is now 35m.
Absolutely so late in the day you pay top dollar. I'd say starting at £35 mill + add ons + at least 20/25% sell on. Otherwise tell them to jog on. Newcastle's add ons were a joke we got £1 mill for each season they get into CL. Hang on they are not a top 4 side yet so we might never get to see any of the add ons - also only 10% sell on - Jog on
All of the above is on the assumption the owner isn’t desperate for cash and he hasn’t sold yet in an attempt to bluff his way to a better price. There is still every chance we sell for less not more. Demanding more at the last minute is only applicable if you don’t need or want to sell, nobody can conclusively say that applies to us.
Everton seem to be looking at a number of forwards at the moment. Let's hope they just go for Ben Brereton instead at half the price, who some have claimed is their top target.
I don't see it, I don't see Everton spending big as they've just sign Maupay and have FFP considerations to take into account. I can also see why a player would be desperate to sign for Newcastle, but Everton, who are bound to be in a relegation dogfight...not so much, I hope I'm not wrong here!
True, we shall find out in a couple of days if we keep both. Sell one and replace or sell both and don't replace.
Everton about to sign our old pal James Garner, certainly not the same player, but I can't see them spending £15m on Maupay, another £15m or so on Garner and then another £30m plus on JP
