Did we mess him around with the Senegal stuff? Are you thinking of us possibly messing Dennis around with the not playing for Nigeria stuff?
I am not suggesting that we will on Monday, but we have only played 2 games with JP, Sarr and Dennis together in the starting line up: Brentford (H), Burnley (H). Other than these games, they have played a total of 85 minutes together: Leeds (A & H), Arsenal (A). In the 259 minutes they have played together, WFC did manage to score one goal (Dennis - Brentford (H)).
Same reasoning applies to the 'Labour party' which doesn't support Labour and Mars bars not actually coming from mars.
Club trying to inspire our current strikers? https://mobile.twitter.com/WatfordFC/status/1553730950894215173
Expecting a few square pegs in round holes (e.g. Cathcart LCB, Kamara RWB) which will hamper our overall performance. I’ll be happy if we can show off the new pressing philosophy and keep it up for the full 90. Then hopefully we make our last couple of signings early next week and can fine tune things quickly.
Sheff Utd have a few players out which I didn't realise. Their midfield should win it for them, if we have Dennis and Sarr playing then we should get a result though.
That's the spirit. Always good to go into a new season full of expectations and hope for what will happen over the next ten months.
Hard to argue with this observation. Although I would suggest that most people who spend a large amount of time on a football forum could certainly be described as a bit strange.
Our Depeche Mode song was played as part of the women’s celebrations tonight. Obviously a sign. I’m changing my 0-0 to 5-0! One each for all our strikers. Tough night for the Huddersfield lookalikes.
There were also a number of Watford flags there too . Stood in the queue behind a knuckle dragger with Luton tattoos, so loudly debated with my son on whether we ll underperform this season and only get second .
I'm hearing there was a really important game yesterday evening. A 2-1 win and huge celebrations. I could have sworn we were playing tonight, sad I missed it, but 3 valuable points all the same. Get-in !!!!
Classic Luther: misses a great chance and then scores 20 seconds later!! I remember Sheff Utd coming with a super negative game plan, real anti-football. Made the hammering that much sweeter!!
Who remembers this? I was actually in hospital at the time and so mad I missed the game live. Fantastic result though. Sheff Utd 1-4 Watford King's double took his goal tally for the season to 15 Marlon King scored twice as Watford stunned high-flying Sheffield United to record their fifth league win in a row. Chris Eagles' diving header put Watford ahead on six minutes - and 20 minutes later Blades' defender David Unsworth was sent off for hitting the scorer. After Eagles' deflected shot hit the bar, King doubled the lead with a low drive early in the second half. Paul Ifill pulled one back for United, but King struck again with a low drive and Hameur Bouazza completed the rout. Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock: "We have now got to regroup and put it behind us. One or two lads had nightmares. "We have got to forget about the mistakes and get on at Plymouth on Saturday. We all know that this will be a masssive blip again in the papers. "Other people do the talking, we just have to put our own house in order." Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd: "They gave us a football lesson when they beat us at our place earlier in the season and I feel we've redressed the balance a little bit. "We are a different team now, we've learned a lot since then. "I'm so proud of my players, I thought they were fantastic, to come to a place like this and to play the way they did, and to keep control of their emotions." Sheff Utd: Kenny, Geary (Morgan 59), Short, Bromby, Unsworth, Ifill (Gillespie 88), Armstrong, Jagielka, Tonge, Kabba (Shipperley 83), Akinbiyi. Subs Not Used: Flitcroft, Quinn. Sent Off: Unsworth (25). Booked: Akinbiyi, Armstrong. Goals: Ifill 58. Watford: Foster, Doyley, DeMerit, Mackay, Stewart, Eagles (Chambers 45), Mahon, Spring (Bangura 53), Young (Bouazza 77), Henderson, King. Subs Not Used: Chamberlain, Carlisle. Booked: Spring, Eagles. The could literally go any way . I really don’t know what to expect if this season at all . The fact Sarr and Dennis are likely to be involved gives us more of a chance of a result . The midfield all seems a bit uncertain.looks like it will be Kayembe and Dele Bashiru but think that area may need some strengthening . Having said that I am looking forward to seeing us actually win some matches and being up there challenging . I do remember how poor the quality was in the championship so it doesn’t take that much to be challenging . Just a bit of magic which I believe we still have in the squad .
Absolutely. A really great win. Really thought we were going to make automatic promotion when we were 1-0 up at Leeds in the next away game and looking comfortable......only to lose unluckily after 2 sendings off. Glad we didn't though or we'd have missed the PO win at Cardiff !
In anticipation of the big kick off I'm wearing my Watford shirt here on holiday in Devon. In the middle of nowhere but sure the cows and chickens will appreciate the level of committed support on show.
Isn't Devon full of Exeter and Plymouth fans? Good people - try the pies they are excellent. I went on holiday to Lands End years ago and really enjoyed it.
Devon and Cornwall is also the proxy capital for plastic Utd fans, who mostly by now have progressed to City fans.
After being thoroughly underwhelmed all pre-season, I can't help but feel a little excited for the season starting tonight. I expect the midfield battle to be lost pretty convincingly but if Dennis and/or Sarr play we should be a threat. Would bet on a cagey low-scoring draw; 0-0 or 1-1 but fingers crossed for an impressive performance and big win!
My sentiments exactly. Have just realised that I have arranged to go out for dinner tonight and I’m actually gutted that I’m going to miss watching it - which surprised me!
