My wife succumbed to it last week and I tested positive a few days later. I doubt that I caught it from her though as we rarely get within 2 metres of each other. Very minor symptoms and both fine after a few days. What's all the fuss about?

Yes, that was one of my earliest symptoms actually.

Mrs UEA has it too. Tested positive today after she was sent home from work with a LFT and instructions to test. Seems to have had a really quick onset, from no symptoms at 4pm yesterday to full blown fever by bedtime and still crap now. She still went to work though bless her. Naturally I have her wellbeing at heart and so have isolated her by locking her in the cellar.

Yep a few bouts. Got the Sh its as well.

Sense of smell is still a bit off but what little taste I have has returned.

Bascially it was just sweats and fever for 2 days with a banging headache. Occasional cough. felt fine if a little tired on the third day and pretty much back to normal after 5.

Don’t get the smell and taste bits mixed up if you’ve got the squits.

Came back from Glastonbury and got struck down on Wednesday with a killer sore throat, fever, cough etc. but took a test Thursday and again a couple of days later and both were Negative. Four of our groups of nine took tests and were all positive though. Only just feel normal today a week later, but still have the bloody cough.

My wife tested negative twice before she finally came back positive, and I came back negative once before finally testing positive after my sense of taste disappeared. Seems like the symptoms often start manifesting before the test is able to detect you're sick with Covid.

It does seem strange to think it wasn’t covid. I think the most consistent thing with it being covid was that it was so up and down, in the past whenever I’ve been ill it’s normally quite linear, it peaks and you feel awful but get progressively better. With this I thought I felt better then the next day I’d feel absolutely awful again.

Took me 5 days after infection for a positive result

Was that via the nasal test? I did the swab of the nostrils yesterday, and came up negative - this morning was nose and throat swab so not sure if that made a difference.

Just tested positive again! Second time in 6 months (never had it before January)! Was meant to be at a regional meeting with 20 other people tomorrow so good job I tested really. Went downhill at about 7 this evening, very sore throat and a cough. Apart from that don't feel too bad. When I got it back in January I was in bed for the first 3-4 days with very heavy flu symptoms.

Yes, it took almost as long to test positive as to recover.
Looking at the select group I know that had it, you should shift it in 5 days or so. Those that have recently suffered or had a booster, either escaped completely or recovered more quickly.

Much easier than the first time around.

More of a head cold really, sore throat gone, now just very congested with a few aches/loss of energy. Reckon by Monday i'll be fighting fit.

Didn't work as I'm positive for it now too.

Teeny tiny sore throat yesterday and now just achy chest muscles, which is a slightly odd symptom, and general fatigue. Still out and about but happy to wear a mask.

Have the same - I had a lot of sneezing on day 1/2 and it felt like my chest muscles were being stabbed when sneezing and a tightness across to shoulders, lasted seconds then ached a little.

Knocked me sideways the last two weeks and still testing positive. Seems to be a lottery of symptoms, with a different set each day.

Having lost many friends to it in the early days, all I can say is thank you medical scientists for getting these vaccines out. Covid really is a ****.

Well it ended up like a standard cold and the symptoms have just about blown over now. I’ve run 28 miles this week so it’s had no respiratory effect on me at all. Not sure if that’s the vaccine doing the business where it otherwise might have…

Only side effect I’ve had, and can’t say I’ve experienced with any recent cold I can remember, is reduced and/or altered sense of taste. Some things taste of nothing, others taste totally different and others still taste like normal. Will be interesting to see how long it takes to return to normal.

Took a few extra days for me, smell a week or so.

Annoyingly I could still taste hot. So I couldn't enter any chilli eating competitions.

There has been suggesting a lack of interaction might have causes people to be more vulnerable but then again we haven’t had any lockdown causing schools to be shut etc since March 2021?

    It hasn't gone away.

Very readable Canadian press article on the latest Omicron variant:

Why XBB.1.5 — the latest Omicron offshoot — could 'outcompete' other COVID-19 subvariants

Fairly readable New Scientist report on XBB.1.5:

XBB.1.5: What we know so far about the latest omicron subvariant

A highly transmissible covid-19 subvariant called XBB.1.5 is now the dominant cause of covid-19 infections in the US – but there’s no evidence it causes more serious illness

We have stocked up on copies of Prince Harry's book in case there's another lockdown and people panic buy all the bog paper again

Are we any nearer to discovering where the original virus came from yet? The bat soup theory is quite obviously nonsense I think most of us agree.

I think we need to look at who would benefit from killing the bat soup market. I suspect Heinz are behind it all.

This doctor (an anti vaxer) might have missed the boat a bit regarding suspended the vaccine.

Would think most of the country have had 2 if not 3 vaccines - some 4!

And those that haven't probably don't want it which is their choice.

I don't think anyone is forced to have it.

He claimed to be innocently digging’ his potatoes, like any country boy at the time, but this has not been corroborated.
