Wow like I've never read a comment from a fickle fan before. So just because he comes from an inferior league means he's rubbish. You'd better let Jurgen know before he does something stupid!
For a massive 3mil apparently. If that's all he cost we could have bought him before if we hadn't tried to get him on the cheap. What did we offer? First 1.2mil then 2? We couldn't have been that short of money surely, we must have spent more than the shortfall in wages and loan fees on titan & rose
It's the one thing we'll never understand about our owners, but they just don't seem to trust hg young players (unless they're freebies....)
Yeah, it’s all well and good saying we could have easily signed him for a reasonably cheap price last year, but then we might not have had the cash to acquire Kayembe and Kalu in January.
I’m sure our young, inexperienced squad is really benefiting from having an older head like Kalu around. To have been in the professional game for decades, like he has, doesn’t come easy. He’s battle-tested.
We've got Kalu, Samuel Kalu, Just don't think you understand. He's only 23, Must be a fake ID, We've got Samuel Kalu (Shame he's 24 but that doesn't work)
He's not homegrown, time spent at Scottish clubs doesn't count. I think he's also had a disappointing season at Aberdeen. Having said that, sure he would've been a better option than fatty Tufan and Kucka, Cleverley and whatever other players whose legs have gone we had last season. Plus if we thought he was good enough to try and buy seems ridiculous not to have gone to £3m.
Easy to fix i think. Just don't think you understand. Hes got a fake ID, Hes really 83, We've got Samuel Kalu
I think foreign teams are increasingly looking at British bargains so they can just flog them back to English clubs at a premium asap. Omar Richards is a prime example, whilst a great player he was never gonna be Bayern level, even as a backup. Spent a season there after joining on a free before getting sold to Forest for 8.5m, easy money.
We presume he would have wanted to come of course but yes seemed we didn’t offer what they wanted - or for Ramsey.
How crazy is football.! Our clubs clamour around looking for cheaper options abroad whilst foreign clubs come look g for our young players.? Shows how screwed up footballs become...
Not sure that means it's "screwed up". Elaborating a bit on reids' post above, there are a few factors at play here with a number of the British players going abroad. One is what reids said about foreign clubs being aware they can potentially sell them back later at a profit. Another is that foreign clubs don't have to pay as much compensation for out of contract UK youth players. But in addition, you also have to consider the relative levels of the leagues. Bundesliga for instance is on average a step up from the SPL and Championship (though some Champ clubs will be ahead of lower BL clubs). But it is below the PL. Same for Ligue 1 and Serie A. There'll be youth players at SPL or Champ clubs, and also the not top rated PL prospects, looking to develop their careers and get more first team football at a decent level, but aren't ready for the PL. For them a chance of playing in the first team for a top tier league abroad could be more attractive than regular game time in the Championship, or rotting in the PL reserves with occasional cup game. The Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A (occasionally also Jupiler, Eredivisie and Portuguese leagues) are therefore simply acting as stepping stones for such players, in the hope that if they impress they can move on to the PL, or worst case stay a regular in another slightly lesser top league.
