I'm much reassured. The replavements will almost certainly be almost as good as Troost, Rose, King and Sema.

This is a good point - whilst it's true that, strategically, he's unlikely to come out and say 'our current squad is chock-full to the brim with abhorrent rotters who don't have the stomach for plain muesli, let alone a fight, so they're all for sale', it's just another example of how those at the club who are theoretically in the most powerful and influential positions are utterly shyt at, and unconcerned by, the optics of anything they say or, largely, do, when it comes to the fans. They/we do pretty much always seem to be the last possible thing on their minds, and their absolute last concern.

There are plenty of ways he could have spoken tactfully or, indeed, strategically (depending on how much stock you put on this kind of thing) without making it sound like he's marching straight on with the gaslighting operation. Most club's DOF's manage to do so, if they do speak, actually.

Given the way the season has just panned out, and the factors that led to it, it's deluded to think you can churn out crap like that and not have it jar enormously. Lest we forget (yeah, right) that they still haven't even once bothered to publicly address the utter shamefulness of last season and its culmination in our relegation (again) in entirely ignominious fashion.

The 'media' stuff the club put out is not aimed at such as those who frequent this forum nor, from what I've seen, those who can be bothered to post on the Wobby site. It's all aimed at the generation who are totally imbued with social media norms and who seem to fawn over practically anything the club spout. The fact that the club's media dept seems to be operated by similar types apparently lacking any critical faculty only adds to the circular nature of everything the club deign to put out. I'd wager the majority of those who digest this crap are quite positive about it all.

"It's all OK, lads, the squad's already good enough to get us up....."

Flapping his gums exclusively for the Italian media again I see.

Good to see everyone is taking the ‘culture change’ and revision in communication on board.

A promising start from Giaretta in his new role of human shield, a position last occupied by Giraldi.

Expecting him to be briefed against constantly this season, become a hate figure that even the likes of Ucko and FTRE feel comfortable criticising and finally be let go at the end of the season as part of us changing our ethos. Should give Pozzo and Duxbury another year at least.

So Giaretta has been around for nearly 2 years, so I thought it right to reflect to see how many good/bad/indifferent transfers we've made since he started.

I'll look at two things. Value for Money (VfM) and Impact to the side.

    .............................VfM......Impact
    Ngakia..................Hit........Miss
    Perica...................Miss.....Miss
    Murray.................N/A .....Miss
Sierralta...............????.......Hit for the Championship, but a Miss for the EPL
    WTE.....................????......Miss
Zincknernal.........Miss......Miss (I gave a Miss for VfM because he was badly undersold)
    Elliot....................N/A......Miss
    Gosling................Miss......Miss
    Lazaar..................N/A......Miss
    Sanchez...............N/A.......Miss
    Louza...................Miss......Hit
    Fletcher...............N/A.......Miss
    Rose.....................N/A.......Miss
    Dennis.................Hit.........Hit
    King.....................N/A.......Miss
    Kucka...................????.......Hit
    Tufan...................Miss.......Miss
    Sissoko.................Miss......Miss
    Nkoulou...............N/A.......Miss
    Okoye...................Miss......Yet to be seen
    Kamara................Hit.........Hit
Samir....................????......Miss (but could be a hit this season)
Kayembe..............Jury is out on this one
    Kalu......................Miss.....Miss
    Bayo......................Miss.....Yet to be seen
    Manaj....................N/A.....Yet to be seen

So his record is pretty appalling. How's he still in a job?

Only Dennis and Kamara can be considered good value players who had an impact to the first team. The other two hits I gave were to Louza and Kucka in terms of impact.

Sissoko had enough moments to be neither hit or miss, but I'd agree with the rest.

Also, please could you add a third column that states whether Bayat was involved in the transfer of if they were a Udinese swap? I'm guessing there are very few that aren't one of those two.

    Any idea on Giaretta's salary?

Gino’s desire to hire his mates as DoF is the main reason why I think Edwards is ultimately doomed to fail.

It needs a new, separate, voice who works closer to the coach and further from the owner for this type of set up to work.

There is no culture change unless they fix the framework that allows that to happen. Otherwise it’s just different words from a different coach each time. This time he just happens to be younger and English - that’s not a culture change.

Like the time Giraldi was getting grief for taking notes at the training ground, who on earth did people think he was taking notes for?

It's only been 5 minutes since we last spoke but I miss you sooooo much. I was going to use the pen you gave me to write this note, but oddly it immediately stopped working.

Please send us more of your outstandingly talented players.

Totally agreed. Gino has hired people from his orbit who are keen to please him. What we need is a sporting director who is hoping that their next job will be with Brighton or Sevilla or someone like that and wants to show the football world that they are a fine recruitment and general backroom mind. Instead, we have someone who has clearly reassured Gino that he will do his bidding. Giaretta knows that if he keeps a low profile, even if it doesn’t work for him at Watford, he can move over to Udinese and keep doing what he’s doing.

Is standing watching training each day and bring by the dugout on match days keeping a low profile though?

You'd think he was of thee coaches...or even the manager taking a view of the Pre-match warm up (certainly more than the actual manager does..)

Obviously close but do most watch the training seasons and appear to influence things on match days as has been reported in the past ?

Maybe it’s a common thing and we are making a fuss over nothing in thinking it’s not normal ?
